Tennessee hooked us up on the totes sat am. It was good to meet you. Leave a few totes for me up there..

Yes he did. It was nice meeting you! I can’t promise that lol

I think airbags would be a good fit for that! We have airbags on both our 3/4 ton and 1 ton, and when you drop the air out, they ride like a new truck, but with the air in the bags, you don't get the sag. We love them, and we still get the good ride!
@FirewoodontheHill14 сағат бұрын
Oh nice do you have a compressor on your truck?
@UpInTheNorthwoods14 сағат бұрын
@FirewoodontheHill i do not have one on my 3/4 ton right jow installing it soon. But we do have one on our one ton, and it is awesome!

Air bags from air lift would help. Great video. Have a great day be safe

I’ve heard mixed reviews on air bags. Have you used them?

Hey Matt , I hope the new shocks and springs work for you . I pulled my Kauffman 6x10 dump trailer with an expedition with the 5.4 engine . I never pulled in overdrive .
@FirewoodontheHill14 сағат бұрын
Nice, yeah I don’t think the motors are the issues when it comes to pulling. its brakes, suspension, and transmission. I think once the suspension is fixed I’ll be good.
@BertsCustomCutsКүн бұрын
You shhould be able to stack them 3 high when empty and when full 2 high as long as they are on fairly solid ground. If moving them in winter, I like to put plastic from bladders under them so they dont freeze down.
@FirewoodontheHill14 сағат бұрын
Ahh those are good tips. Hopefully I won’t have to deal the freezing part haha.

I had to do the same thing with my 2012 Ram 1500.It helped but still not enough so I added suspension air bags.Works great now.

I’ve had so many mixed opinions on air bags. I’m scared to try them

I run air suspension on my 2018 ram 1500 and it levels out nicely when pulling.
@FirewoodontheHill14 сағат бұрын
How much does something like that cost?
@toddsoutsideagainКүн бұрын
If you’re wanting to stay with a 1500 ride and only have the stiff suspension whenever you are towing, I would suggest airbags. I know you’ve probably already done what you are intending to do, but if you want the smoother ride and you add more leaf springs it’s gonna ride like a three-quarter ton. Just my two cents. Great price on those totes.👍🏻👍🏻
@FirewoodontheHill4 сағат бұрын
Do you have air bags or have you had air bags? I’ve got friends that say don’t get air bags as they are hassle. I also hear some ppl who say they are the ticket. I’m only going up one leaf spring so the ride isn’t going to be too stiff. 2500 have 5 plus leads depending on the year.

@ I have had 3/4 ton trucks for a lot of years so no I haven’t had air bags but my RV dealer who did my trailer hitch install preferred them for people with heavier loads🤷♂️ I do know all our big trucks at work use air bags that are actually self leveling when you start the truck according to how heavy the load is. I did have air shocks one time and they were handy and easy to level out your truck. Try the extra leaf first. You can always add something else later
@FirewoodontheHill19 минут бұрын
Yeah air shocks would be nice!

Notice a couple months ago my springs on both side were broken, so put f 250 spring on, 😀

So those look like the 40” tall totes are they still considered a 1/3 cord or a face cord how ever you look at it?
@FirewoodontheHill14 сағат бұрын
A ibc tote isn’t a full 1/3 unless it stacked. IMO
@kendriedger151Күн бұрын
That sounds good in theory and may fix the spring problem ! BUT the rest of the truck is still a 1500 !!!! You will be probably be having transmission problems soon since you plan on haul lots of heavy loads of logs ! But Good Luck with it all !😊
@FirewoodontheHill14 сағат бұрын
Yeah I’m not worried about the transmission as I’m going to need a new transmission here soon. I’m about to break 130k and that’s when they start going out in this year model. The truck is strong otherwise. Just needed a little more suspension

I put the 3/4 ton coil over shocks thats supposed to add like 800 lbs a side and ive puled a 25ft gooseneck with a 30 hp john deere and a side by side on it and it squats less than the same load on my dads 3/4 ton ford diesel, only thing is the part store says they wont fit cause there like 4" longer but leave the tires on the ground and jack it up from the ball
@FirewoodontheHill14 сағат бұрын
Oh nice! Maybe I will look into that if this doesn’t work. Thanks!

@@FirewoodontheHill yeah I'm going on close to 4 years and had no known issues or any abnormal tire wear mines on a 2000 extended cab 4x4 I think I'm around 80,000 miles so far since I've made the change and the shocks still functioning properly towing 2-3 times a week most weeks everything from lawn care,to moving farm equipment and probably average probably 50-60 full cords of firewood that I go get and bring home to process then turn around and deliver it after it's seasoned
@ryanroby2630Күн бұрын
Add leaf springs from a 3/4 ton not difficult. If your truck is one that's new enough it has coil get a older version. Trucks aren't ment to work any more. I have a 1/4 ton i stack a face cord in and it's completely fine.
@FirewoodontheHill14 сағат бұрын
Yes I agree they don’t make them like they used too!
@BGWenterprisesКүн бұрын
Not necessarily easy or convenient. but a load distributing hich to transfer load to the front of the truck, is more or less what you need. in combination with the 4th spring, you plan on adding and the springs you took off. It would hold the rear up. Air bags are another option, but ive not used them. . Just once a year you need to inspect the frame of the truck for damage, as your basically pushing the load capacity over time. especially so, if it's exposed to road salt. . For the trailer, you could flip the axils to the other side of the springs, and have the tires right about deck height. As trailer fenders and forks are just a bad mix when you add logs to the mix.
@FirewoodontheHill14 сағат бұрын
Yeah I’ve heard about the distributing hitch and I need to look into those. I think the 4th spring should do the trick but we will see. Thanks for the input!
