When fitted with the right ECU strategy (other hardware & tuning required) is a form of Anti-Lag known as Fresh-Air Anti-lag... It opens to allow charge air from your turbo to bypass the engine under closer throttle situations & when combined with the ECU driven ignition & fuelling strategy will ignite and provide a controlled burn in the manifold, pre-turbo keeping the turbo spinning (creating boost) for when you open the throttle again...

"This is NOT for street toys" should be at the start and end of the video. I understand Turbosmart wants to sell products but kids are gonna throw this on their home built bs and do damage. A race engine and a street engine (no, you're "built" motor is not a race engine) are not the same thing. Not because of parts ... You can go full race build on the street technically (though it would be terrible to drive) ... But because of how the motors are treated pre/post-race.

@chrismilne8097 5 жыл бұрын
That is correct - There is additional plumbing, potential solenoids, ECU outputs and an ECU strategy.. But saying that it will limit turbo life isn't so true. This is an alternative to traditional throttle-kick ECU driven Anti-Lag, which is far more aggressive on turbo's and manifolds. This is a controlled burn in the exhaust manifold, rather than aggressive pops and bangs other anti-lag strategies are known for. From a true Motorsport perspective, brake pedal assist from vacuum boosted system's aren't upset or disabled by this system making it arguably safer in and overall, more predictable...

Sort of... the Valve is based on a Wastegate body though as it needs to handle the heat of EGT's pushing back on it to some degree. so a alloy BOV would not work. Further to that, twin chamber control from the housing ensures more accurate control (opening / closing and a linear response to a control strategy) that a BOV simply couldn't do...

Simon Zhao true anti-lag like in rally cars. Recirculating Valves are good for not releasing metered air to atmosphere. Anti-lag is combustion in the exhaust manifold in order to spool the turbo, this can happen alongside a diverter valve. It means you hold boost or even build boost while off the throttle though it’s not as smooth as on the throttle boost builds
@zakdodgetattoos
@zakdodgetattoos 5 жыл бұрын
TheProPilot I didn’t mention using one. And it wouldn’t be any different. It’s just marketing because everyone wants anti-lag these days. Looks no different than an external wastegate to me. This was way back pre mass interwebnet days when all we had for info were these rectangular things made from trees and covered with ink, anyway I honestly thought I was onto something, a cha ching technology winner, set for life snap on celebration and was going mad scientist on a R32 I had using it guinea-pig lab styles until while researching more bullchit I saw the s1 engine had two 'gates on it, WTF ? 2 wastegates? Absolutely. Just throw on you let throttle body instead and it will give you massive power gains on first throttle hit of each gear.
