Hello and congratulations for the video I come to you for the multiplus can we use the ACin input not permanently on the network but just connect it to a 230V 20A socket (France) to just supply the ACin input to charge a park battery at night rate and use the ACout during the day to restore the energy to my electrical panel? because connecting the ACin to the network bothers me a little because it requires a lot of steps because if there is a risk of injection into the network it is necessary to go through a Consuel I would especially like to be in self-consumption and from time to time be able to close the multiplus with a source inverter in my prolonged absence and switch to the direct network laurent

What is the minimum input current limit that this can be set to? It isn't listed in Victron's spreadsheet. Closest is Quattro 48/5000/70-100/100 120V and that has 13.4A minimum input current. Wondering if this is same or hopefully lower.

What does low frequency mean in this context? Does it apply to the frequency of the AC out of 50/60 HZ but if so, wouldn’t be all inverters be low frequency?
@CurrentConnected Жыл бұрын
It refers to the topology of the boost circuit. In a high frequency inverter, very small ferrite transformers running around 100kHz generate the peak-peak voltage of the sine wave, before being rectified back to DC and chopped up to AC yet again. Since these inverters target a lower pricepoint, they skip the inductors that smooth the output. In a low frequency inverter, a single H-bridge circuit drives the transformer at a base frequency of 60hz and a sine wave is derived by modulating duty cycle of the H-bridge circuit. Since the final power stage of the low frequency inverter is the massive transformer, it means there is a lot of "momentum" stored in the magnetic field of the transformer and available for surge loads. The transformer also acts as a filter to keep any noise down on the output line.
@maxmustermann9858 Жыл бұрын
@@CurrentConnected Thanks for the answer. May I ask where I can see if it is a high or low frequency Inverter in the technical specifications, do manufacturers normally tell or are there other things to look out for.
@George_us Жыл бұрын
@maxmustermann9858 Sorry for jumping in. A low frequency inverter has a much bigger coil/inductor which results to the inverter to be heavier. So one can look at the weight of the inverter and say if it is low frequency or high frequency. The weight of a high frequency inverter is much less than a low frequency inverter because a high frequency inverter uses much higher switching frequency which requires smaller (lower weight) coil/inductor. I personally prefer a low frequency inverter because they can handle larger inductive (aka in-rush current) motor/pump loads.
@maxmustermann9858 Жыл бұрын
@@George_us Thanks for the answer. I thought because low frequency inverters are obviously the better and more professional type there is some kind of marketing to clarify which type it is. But your answer definitely makes sense.

Victron could corner the market with these, I'm not aware of anything that can compete with the idle draw for this power output, but that victron price tag actually keeps sales numbers down. Are they actually costing themselves revenue by keeping prices high and volume of sales low?
@HighTechLab Жыл бұрын
I'm curious what inverter can do what this inverter can do for less money. What beats this in all other categories but the idle draw?
@jimbob3030 Жыл бұрын
@@HighTechLab "What beats this in all other categories but the idle draw?" That depends on what you mean by beats it in all other categories. The victrons have more individual features on each part than the cheap chinese all in ones, but a lot of those features go unused and are just overkill for most people. You could buy 4 or more complete growatt all in ones for the price of just one victron full setup. (With victron you still need a MPPT charge controller on top of this, plus if you want it to all work together and be controlled by eithernet and bluetooth then you need all the other victron parts like cerbo gx, it's screen, the victron shunt and victron bus) And if you want split phase from this setup you'll need two of those $2k inverter charger boxes, plus all the other victron parts. All those costs of buying each part separate in the victron eco system add up fast and most of that basic functionality is included in the cheap chinese all in ones. If the cheap chinese stuff like growatt and eg4 and MPP solar were even close on idle consumption they'd have victron beat on value for the money hands down, but their idle draw makes them hard to deal with in places with a real winter where you might not be able to make up for the idle consumption by just adding more panels. If the light just isn't there more panels can't do much. If victron didn't have the super low idle draw, I wouldn't be drooling over wanting one. The only reason I really need a victron is for that low idle draw. If I had the money to burn I would ditch the two growatts I have now and replace them with the whole victron setup but that would be a lot of money, many times what I spent on the growatts.

It's a beautiful design but unfortunately don't expect Victron to honour their 5 year warranty if your inverter craps out. Mine just stopped working after a year and Victron totally ignored the request for repair or replacement. Considering that they are on the higher price scale compared to their competition you would expect better. Buyer Beware!
