Just so people know, they don't sell by the slice, they only sell in that tart/cupcake like form or as a whole cheesecake. I went to these guys in February. Nonetheless, this is the best cheesecake.

The BEST Cheesecake I ever had was at "Newberrys" in the Northgate Mall in Seattle Washington. They made it on site in huge sheet pans. Sliced in big squares. Heaven. Gone, like most good things of back in the day.

I’m loving the Italian food resurgence. Italian food was so popular that it became part of Americana, than the millennials all got gluten allergies and but somehow became “foodies” at the same time and we had some other cuisines become popular, and rightly so, most countries have good cuisines, but Italian food still has that simple method but comforting feel. Junior’s is still the King of NYC but Eileen’s has a lot of variety (red velvet, chocolate banana, pumpkin, crème brûlée, etc, etc) which makes it more attractive to younger people. But Eileen’s classic cheese cakes (plain & strawberry) aren’t as good as Junior’s IMHO.

I was actually disappointed when I ate Junior's. No one told me about Eileen's before going to the US but I ate at Del Frisco's and even though they are a steakhouse, their strawberry cheesecake was amazing. Wayy better than junior's. I've never finished a new york cheesecake but I found myself wanting more even after a 4 course meal.

When they say they separate the eggs differently all I could think about was imagine if the yolk broke in that big bowl of cracked eggs and they would have to start over since the whites would be contaminated and wouldn't whip up! 😳😳

Having just gotten back from NYC today and having tried both Eileen's and Junior's... I'm definitely not going to say Eileen's is bad by any stretch, but it certainly isn't my favourite cheesecake. If one finds most cheesecakes to be too heavy, they will probably like Eileen's a lot. It has a very light texture compared to most. Even the crust on Eileen's was very soft compared to Junior's. If I had to choose between the two, I would choose Junior's over Eileen's. However, the cheesecake I make at home is somewhere in between Junior's and Eileen's in texture. It's not heavy like Junior's, but it's also not exactly light like Eileen's.
