Oh, that was a very fun multi adventure day! I was very concerned about the road surface at the beginning... so glad you guys didn't skid off the cliff! The tunnel looked just like the long one at the entrance to Yosemite, it drips water on the road too. The kayak tour looked like a blast, can't believe all the multiple waterfalls everywhere! Then the boat tour looked like so much fun, especially with the addition of good food. Frankly, I love to day hike in that kind of weather, it's magical. And to cap it off, a very nice RV park.

Ahh, Fiordland where the rainfall is measured in metres and coffee carts operate in the wilderness. That dusting of snow was beautiful and you saw the waterfalls without them being blown back upwards and without all the small aircraft buzzing in and out (a real downer). The cruises don't usually go out to the sea if it's very rough. That sounds scary although probably not dangerous. The captain should have told the passengers what would happen and to hold on. They must have been frightened that the fierce Whimsical person would yell at them. Unfortunately the weather was too stormy for you to really enjoy the drive. It's fabulous in fine weather. Those alpacas.... yes you can buy them food, but they didn't tell you that you have to pay extra to score a hungry alpaca! Great adventures.

Hi, great video and good to see that Milford put on the perfect weather for you (heavy rain with a touch of heavier rain and scattered sunshine). My wife and I did that cruise about 15 years ago. When we got to the ocean we were warned about the swell, but that didn't really give a clue as to how the boat reacted to putting her nose into the trough of the first 10-12 meter swell. We had green water coming over the bow (Awesome). Same roll when turning too but no broken crockery. On the way back in we stopped for a bit to look some sea lions and a young European woman lost her sun glasses over the side. She was lamenting having lost her Ray-bans, when one of the crew approached her and handed her a piece of folded paper, courtesy of the captain. She opened it and it was the GPS co-ordinates of the spot with the water depth. So her glasses weren't lost, just 200-300 meters down. If you ever get the chance sometime in the future, try that Te Anau to Milford road on a motorbike, without the rain and snow. Mind blowing. Done it twice now. One of the best rides in NZ IMHO.

You've got the Coffee Guy's back, so we've been warned. Don't mess with "Whimsical Woman". It's good to see that you don't let the unpredictable New Zealand weather dampen your spirits. When we went to Milford Sound some years ago, we did an overnighter and slept aboard a moored ship. It rained heavily all night, but in the early morning light when my wife and I went on deck, the huge number of waterfalls pouring out of the bush was magnificent. I know it sounds crazy, but Milford is at its best in wet weather. We also took the trip out into the Ocean resulting in the same wallowing experience as the ship turned to reenter the Sound. I think it's all part of their routine, but it is scary. Had to laugh at your attempts to feed the Alpaca's. They looked so disdainful and supercilious, I just cracked up laughing at your efforts, but am glad one took pity on you and eventually played along.
@JenniferMabus5 жыл бұрын
We saw the ship that lets people stay overnight! How cool is that. I actually LOVED that there was rain and so many waterfalls!! I totally agree with you. And I am happy the sweet alpaca took pity on me. 😂

@@JenniferMabus I forgot to mention that the only downside of sleeping on the ship, was the constant banging of the anchor chain against the hull all night as the ship swayed back and forth, so we didn't get a lot of sleep, but it was worth it, enabling us able to rise at the crack of dawn and catch the Sound at its most spectacular.
