There is over 1,000 acres of green land on the Town Moor, bigger than central park in New York, used for literally nothing apart from some cattle and dog walkers. NUFC is a massive part of our city's culture, and the heartbeat for huge amounts of folk, and a lot of people put NUFC up next to their families, they really do. Imo we could build a stadium everyone could be proud of, the envy of the country, of course their will be some objections, but we have to move forward. I love the culture and heritage of our city but taking one tenth of the city centre green space is hardly detracting from that. It's all about opinions, i love my city i love NUFC, and i think a new stadium would add to the city massively. The Saudis also looking to put £250,000,000 worth of infrastructure in to the north east at a time when cash strapped councils are really struggling, is a massive lifeline. That surely cuts them some slack. We have really have to open our minds and move forward. Football is such a big part of the culture of this city. I will add imo the perfect place for a new stadium is the site were they hold the Hoppings, terrific infrastructure for getting in and out of the town, the area is more than a perfect size, yea, i get all the it's the freeman of the city's land along with the city council etc, but whatever has to be done to appease the city council and the freeman can be done by our owners, I'm pretty sure of that. And the ancient laws say land can be donated by the council and freeman if it is deemed to improve the culture of the city, well imo it would 100 per cent, NUFC is the very heartbeat of our city. And i will add whatever decision is made by the club, I won't gripe on it, my preference is for a new stadium though, we have the opportunity of a lifetime, and for me taking a small piece of green belt land should not stop it. It would enhance our city to another level. And regarding Sir John Halls application to build a stadium in Leazes park in the 90's that had the green light, it was the objections of the objectors "No Business on the Moor" with 36,000 signatures that made the council back down. Different times now, and imo we would get the go ahead for Leazes park, objections or not. But that Hoppings site, has terrific infrastructure, firstly a blank canvas, and then the roads that lead in and out of the city are perfect, there's other places to put the Hoppings!!!!. I put a bit of effort in to that answer😊 and it's just my take on it😉
@TheMagpieChannelTVАй бұрын
Appreciate the effort in that comment mate!

Build the new stadium and training complex on the Town Moor. We'd probably still have some room left over to build a new fanzone as well.
@deanharding740Ай бұрын
extending into Leazes park seems like the obvious thing to do and would create a city centre mega venue for visitors using shops, restaurants and hotels. It’s fair enough having protected land but the local economy, jobs, visitors, etc is critical for the benefit of the city and surrounding area. If anything, the whole of Leazes park could surround the stadium and be landscaped into an amazing space.
@daveyeddie8176Ай бұрын
@@deanharding740 Yes, options are open, I'm fine whatever the outcome, and SJP can be redeveloped commercially ie fans hub and hotel etc, have a look at what they are doing at man city, although they are just revamping the stadium ie one stand they are also building on to it, it will look excellent when finished, it's on KZbin. So music concerts, Rugby, Nfl. You name it, can be played, & be seen their. The rev from that will pay for itself...St James's Park is to restricted. The land SJP is built on isn't even owned by the club. SJP is like triggers broom. Even though the location is the same it's beyond recognition to when I started going as a young boy (I can still smell the old toilets at the gallowgate now) I get the sentiment but most of us were not even born the last time we won anything and brought the trophy back to the ground. Unless we are talking intertoto cup and the sela cup. Also if we increase sjp it will take a few years so that's a few years of lowering our attendance to say 35 000 to build up the new stands which just does not make financial sense at all. SJP will always hold a special place in my heart but we need to move with the times and that's a new stadium. Maybe do what arsenal did with Highbury and also put hotels on it adjourned to the new ground.

The thing is with this whole new stadium situation, is that people get too strung up on the past. In order for us to grow and build into something bigger change needs to happen. Now as much as I would love to see us have St James be our ground for many years, I know that in order to challenge and compete we need more revenue and more seats, tickets etc and with that we would have more revenue which in turn would help with PSR & FFP and I am all for it. I know its a big thing to say but don't let nostalgia and the past hold us back from progressing and accept that the new owners want the best for the club. Hopefully they take the leap and build a new stadium because I know for a fine fact, it would be one of the best stadiums in the UK alongside those like Tot, Man C etc.

Don’t forget we could hold the World Cup rugby World Cup nfl and concerts and the lasses when they get in the pl and that’s not including the extra seats and facilities food drink ect that a new stadium would generate, with a new stadium and more family friendly like the Mercedes Benz stadium we could get 90k easy , it’s time for a new stadium with PSR and it will make it sustainable for the future, and even if PSR stays the same we will be fantastic no matter who owned us and that will make us a top club

It HAS to be a new stadium however where it's going to be built is a BIG problem. The evidence collected by Eddy from "Tyneside Life" suggests it won't be on Leazes Park. The Town Moor & the Utilita Arena area also seem very doubtful - so is demolishing St. James' and rebuilding the new stadium on the same site. Many toon fans won't like it but we may have to be pragmatic and allow the stadium to be built on the outskirts of the city or even, dare I say it, outside the city - shock horror! 😱 Hopefully Brad Miller (COO) has something up his sleeve to avoid moving outside the city though - but if not, we may have to accept it to have the success we all crave.

The problem is where to put it. Building it on Leazes Park or The Town Moor is out of the question as they are owned by the Freemen and are enjoyed by many. If the University hadn't grabbed all the land which was the site of our brewery it would have been fine. Castle Leazes could be an option but the football hating vegan tree huggers would glue themselves to the footpaths and stop it ever being built. My answer is to demolish Eldon Square shopping centre, move the bus stations and build it there. They could then both be relocated at the site of SJP.
