Bob Dorough began his career as a composer and jazz musician, but his most well-known work came during his tenure as musical director of ABC’s “Schoolhouse Rock!” (which originally aired between 1973 and 1985). The Saturday morning cartoon combined animation with catchy songs that helped teach children subjects like math, grammar, and history. Sadly we reported yesterday about the death of #BobDorough at age 94. #SchoolHouseRock was a solid influence on millions of Boomers!

Sonic032407 I'm so glad to hear they haven't been totally forgotten!! They used to be plastered all over Saturday morning TV, so the students knew them by heart, and the mechanics of each principle was learned by repetition (or osmosis even!) at least. My teachers used them, and kudos to you for keeping them active!

Probably one of the most influential things in my life. I can recite the preamble of the constitution. I can tell you what conjunctions go where. I can tell you about 3 being a magic number. I got math. No real mystery. I learned how to be a citizen of the world. I hope more spend time watching these with their children.

My favorite of all the songs. Jack Sheldon's voice was primo good. But all thanks goes to the legend Bog Dorough. My favorite line in that jazzy voice when Bill says..." yes that's called a veto." So great. I remember these vividly as a 5 year old. I miss those days terribly. Life was simple and pleasant.

They ABSOLUTELY need to bring this back to TV on Saturday mornings, like we had. I grew up on this stuff...and, as a six year old I learned the basics of how my government was supposed to work...at least as much as a precocious six year old could understand...but it got me interested in wanting to learn more, and ignited a love for my country in my heart. From when I first saw this, I knew I wanted to be a part of that process. And just this year, in 2020, at age 49, I filed to run for the North Carolina Senate. I became the first openly transgender woman in state history to do this. I did not win my Primary, but this was a first ever candidacy, and I do not think it will be my last.

I never wanted to get up (not a morning person) but I got up naturally, fully rested and without an alarm clock. Nowadays yer lucky if you get 6 hours of sleep. But I share yer sentiment, some people throw around the word "nostalgia" so much, but they don't really understand what a simpler time it was. The sun wasn't as hot as it is now, people were friendlier, most cartoons were better, your neighborhood was safer. I got to experience so much first hand, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, so many amazing movies, the NES, the SuperNES, amazing arcades

in light of the recent death of jazz musician Jack Sheldon at the ripe old age of eighty-eight, the only 'silver lining' to this sad news is that he was afforded the opportunity to celebrate one final birthday on 30 November. in addition to "i'm just a Bill" (Legislative Process), the late Jack Sheldon also did other Schoolhouse Rock vignettes like: 'Conjunction Junction' (Syntax); 'Them Not-so Dry Bones' (Skeletal System); and 'Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla' (Pronouns). it is worth noting that the late Jack Sheldon himself provided voice work for several television commercials for Pepcid AC back in 1997 to the tune of 'Everybody Eats When They Come to My House' - "Everybody Eats When There's Pepcid AC."

That's not how it works at all. Corporations make large donations to congressmen and woman and if they donate a large enough amount to enough people those people will vote yes and signed into law. If they don't donate enough or if the corporations donate enough and tell then to say no then the bill dies.
