Don’t close loops. You should know where you’re taking them, but they shouldn’t. Create excitement Add Novelty and create the right set of emotion. absolute excellence! one point to clarify: selling isn't hawking shit to people by manipulation. "if I have to sell I've done something horribly wrong" I feel is Shawn saying if I have to persuaaaaade and push someone to buy my stuff when they don't want it or need or can afford it.....yes, then something has horrifically gone wrong there. most don't know the difference between traditional "sales" and what it actually is, because they've only ever seen the needy, desperate, super attached to outcomes salesperson who "neeeeeds to make a sale" pushing and manipulating others to profit. disqualify, be clear, be neutral, be honest, and go for no :)

To be honest, as of today, I am so tired and callous about all these business ideas that come through to make money as the next best thing. They'll tell you how great they are...and have sold $150 million in sales because of what they do....and you get this over and over again. I have fallen into this trap....spent a lot of money.... taken their courses on how to do something....but what they don't tell you is about the money you need to market your project....the amount of inertia it takes to get something going....So, I've decided to just concentrate on one thing and see it through and not worry about making money....after all I am competing with thousands of other copy writers doing the same thing. But for me, I will take the time to more fully understand the art form. As in any Art form though, as in music, it's a lifetime of learning!

At least from my point of view, writing is nothing you learn like you learn to ride a bike etc. It's a process. Given you can write at all (and obviously you can), you "simply" start, adapt succesful methods, keep your ears and eyes open, educate yourself, read and write a lot, and get better by time.

Hey! I will echo what Ole Arntz said, in that you never really "stop" learning - because there's always more to learn and improve on. But in terms of starting from ground zero and how long it will take for you to learn enough to get started... most my students spend about 3-6 months learning and practicing before starting to write for their first clients. But there is no "rule" here. As soon as you're comfortable and confident, you can start looking for clients! Good luck :)
