1990 was arguably Moon's best statistical year. 4,689 passing yards, 33 TD's in just 15 games. Had a good chance at 5k yards had he played the last game of the season. Also Givens was 21 yards short of giving the Oilers three 1k yard receivers. Maybe Moon would have been able to make the throws better had he played this game. The problem with the R N' Shoot was no run game, meaning if the offense doesn't move the ball, their time of procession is really short and the defense stays on the field a long time.
@mjwatts19832 жыл бұрын
The Run N Shoot’s lack of run came to the front in the Oilers collapse vs the Bills in the 1992 playoffs and then throughout the 1993 season as it led to friction between O coordinator Kevin Kilbride & D coordinator Buddy Ryan that eventually resulted in Ryan punching Kilbride

To be fair...the Oilers were without Warren Moon. Cody Carlson wasn't winning on the road in a playoff game. Wouldn't have imagined that as the nephew of Ickey Woods, this win would be the last for 31 years in the postseason. As a Raiders fan, that it started at the expense of Bo Jackson's career and ended at the expense of my team, I'm not exactly HAPPY about that lmao.

"Oilers and Bengals are ready to meet for a third time." Oh snap, I forgot the Oilers used to be in the same division as the Bengals, Browns, and Steelers. Time flies! XD
@ChristoFreeze2 жыл бұрын
I had forgotten just how awesome Harold Green was with Woods and Brooks in the backfield, but even after then he was a beast!!! Beating oilers/Titans today will not be easy with Henry, Jones, and Brown, healthy. D Line for the Bengals is 75% at best, so if they cannot get pressure on Tannyhill or stop Henry it could be a long day. Not worried about the offense, but if Tennessee can keep Borrow and company off the field running the ball playing TOP then they score 17-21 points at most. That won’t be enough. They will need to score at least 34 to win. Stop Henry 34-31, but if they don’t, 27-21 Titans move on.
@DanStrayer2 жыл бұрын
We were out doing a family thing that day. The only thing I remember about this game was that it commanded just a one page write up in SI, with a caption for a picture (Givins TD?) showing a big play by the Oilers came when “the game was already over.”
