It's the kind of sport you are probably best watching on TV first to get a rough idea of the rules, tyres, strategies etc. But being there in person is great to grasp the scale of the event and to really appreciate the speed and precision these guys are capable of for 90 minutes.

I want to go to one because I want to compare it to the sheer force I felt when I went to a NASCAR race. The sound and the air was unlike anything I ever experienced. The sound was a physical force in and of itself. And the fact these drivers are nailing like 900+ turns with braking points, acceleration levels, apexes, and doing it all at speeds that bottom out at speeds like what people do on a highway... it's absolutely mindboggling.

I fell into a YT rabbit hole a while back about racing in general and F1 in particular. My conclusion is that it's as much about the engineering of the cars and rules-lawyering (to borrow a gaming term) the regulations as it is driver skill.

@@marvinblackheart623 I've heard that he was unbanned in like 2011 or something. If I remember correctly, Ben Sulayem was actually the one responsible for banning him, back then, but an European court or something reverted that decision. He's still regularly been around the paddock for the past decade, but now Alpine brought him back as actual staff. I've heard that Stefano Domenicalli was the one top figure actually acting friendly with him, recently. I'm sourcing this from a recent video by The Race on the matter, so you can go there for more information.

When I went to Silverstone I had race commentary through a radio earpiece thing and a big screen in front. So I was just watching the race when there was nothing going on in front of me. It is noise and atmosphere make it fun. On top of the race you get to watch practice sessions, qualifying, and a bunch of support races. There is a ton of stuff going on around the track, including live music. It is a fun (but expensive) weekend.

In GP2 as it was then he was second quickest in 05 pre season testing and was beaten out by Can Artam, whatever happened to him, so Artam/Speed got the numbers 1 and 2 for their team, and then proceeded to not dominate like people thought To be fair Speed went on to have.....a career in the US, yeah a career, let's just call it that and ...a career on iRacing as well that got brought to a dubious end.

Ah, yes, a proper sport where the stewards take ages to come to any sort of conclusion that still ends up being arbitrary in many cases and even when it's not, the time they take seems simply unecessarily obstructive because teams can't even react to a penalty the decision about which is postponed unitl after the race. Imagine that in football, disallowing a goal for as common a reason as offside or a foul hours after the game.

I remember talking to a guy who loved F1 and I said what’s the point of going. You’re sat in one part of the track and can’t see the race. He said he looked at the faces of the crowd as the cars pass, and with that noice so many just had a big smile on their faces. I can imagine that. This is F1 if Philomena Clunk did it 😅😅😅😅

I went to my first and only race at Barcelona in 2019, literally thought the same thing "this just happens another 60 odd times" 😂

If Formula One has captivated me since 1966 it must have something going for it. Check out the KZbin footage for the British Grand Prix in 1988 - the inspiring Ayrton Senna at his greatest.

"What's stopping me from turning up in a Fiat 500"? Love it!!! You can turn up in a Fiat 500 Neive. But you won't get it past the car park LOL My other favourite quote, after the first lap "Do they do this 65 more times"? Brilliant x

I was there - great weekend. Stuntpeg try Silverstone F1 with full camping experience- the atmosphere is soooo much better. Barcelona was great but the crowd engagement is not the same as the British GP! Stuntpeg you have a fantastic persona - you should be on BBC / Sky Sports and not just as a guest. Well Done you!

I've never seen F1, but it looks cool. The only motorsport I've seen live was a motorcycle race at Laguna Seca (home of The Corkscrew), which was a fun and unique experience. It was an interesting kind of festival atmosphere.

This video was fantastic, I was laughing almost the entire way through. I personally think that you would have really enjoyed, or at the very least felt more of the impact, if you went to a f1 race 20 years ago. The reason? The sound that those engines made back in the day were so unbelievably loud that they would rock your entire body and reach your soul. The current cars don't really accomplish that. Regardless, amazing video!
