I think the other dang-it on the Kadri OT goal was that two Tampa defenders let a man who hadn't played a game in 18 days and whose thumb was broken in two places and surgically repaired, go right through them like nothing and still get off a shot that somehow beat Vasi. (Though if you watch the shot, it seems obvious that he didn't really get all of the puck, it came off of the end of his stick very strangely, maybe that's why it fooled Vasi just enough?) Certainly a bizarre play overall, and sure weird things can happen, but the Bolts had done almost *nothing* in that OT. It seemed fairly likely that even if that hadn't been a goal, it was only a matter of time before the Avs scored, the Lightning were getting absolutely shelled.

12:35. This is actually something I get to do a lot. I've been a hockey fan living in either Texas or Kansas my entire life and don't have a single other friend who follows the sport. I bring friends to minor league games all the time and most of the time, they'll ask questions and try to understand the sport and I honestly love teaching people about it.

In box lacrosse any shot that hits the goalie directly in the face gets blown dead immediately. I always considered it making sense so you don't just aim for the goalies head. When it comes to changing on the fly with box lacrosse you can actually pass to the person you're changing off with. But possessions work a lot more different then with hockey. It's more like basketball in that respect. You can also destroy people who don't have the ball and there's no such thing as offside.

On the topic of the goaltender mask - change the rule to something like the following: "If a goaltenders mask falls off due to a shot or interference from an opposing player, play must be blown dead and the clock reset to the time the mask fell. Additionally, if a goaltender's mask is clearly and obviously damaged but is still worn, the goaltender has the right to take off the mask and force play dead. Should a goaltender take his mask off during play and, upon inspection or review, the mask is not damaged clearly or obviously, the goaltender will take a 2 minute minor penalty." Protects goaltenders from playing through any mask equipment errors while also discouraging trying to game the rules around it. I'm sure there's still probably holes in this idea, but that could easily be ironed out before implementing it completely.

My thoughts on the Darcy Kuemper Mask Off Goal: The Dang-It is on MacKennon for not playing to the whistle. If he even as much as puts his stick out he blocks it and gets the play stopped for the mask off. He's lucky it didn't matter at the end of the game. I think it was a good goal, just because the player got the immediate rebound and put it back.

The goalie mask rule, eXCePT iN aN iMMiNeNT SCoRiNG SiTuaTioN, that's so dumb; you just know someone's gonna get seriously hurt because of that someday, ala Jacques Plante in the 50s, at which point they'll _have_ to change the rule to a blanket "if the mask comes off at all, play stops". Or you know, they could just do it now and save themselves the future PR trouble, but who ever wants to do a necessary thing _now?_
