Best youtube channel ever? I feel like I'm getting a university level education on skincare and dermatology... thank you :) My question is about niacinamide for the body - my son has eczema on his legs/arms and I have chronic dry skin and I would love to find a body moisturizer with this ingredient. Do you have a body lotion/cream you recommend that has niacinamide? I'm loving Cerave PM for my face lotion, I've definitely seen improvement since using that in conjunction with adapalene (improvements in pore size, skin texture, black heads). Thank you!

I used niacinamide from the ordinary for some weeks and loved it! My rosacea skin suddenly evened out and it hydrated my skin heavenly! But suddenly it started to itch in such a way, that i had to stop using it. Besides that, it bothered, that it was pilling and it was hard to use other products over it because of that. So i mixed the niacinamide with my moisturizer and my marula oil and patted it on my skin. No itching or stinging anymore! I am aspecialy impressed with the moisturizing effect and it seems to shrink pores also! Absolutely amazing!

I've been using moisturizers containing niacinamide for 2 years with no irritation. In the last year, after reading how fab niacinamide performs in the anti-aging realm (I'm 50), I decided to bump up the potency in my nightly serum. Per the usage instructions on Paula's Choice 10% Niacinamide Booster, I added 4 drops to the serum. Welcome to DRYNESS and REDNESS CITY! I reduced frequency of usage with little relief, then stopped altogether for over a month. Then, because I couldn't bear to throw away such an expensive product, I started again. This time, every 3 days and with only 1-2 drops. No more dryness and redness! I'm now back up to the 4 drops added every night and all's well. p.s. I'm a new subscriber and your channel is SOLID GOLD. Thank you! OOXOO

Also, to note, I've found that using L-Ascorbic Acid serum and another product with Niacinamide is a big No-No for me. Within a few minutes, my entire face flushes/mottles and stays that way for several hours. Now, the L-Ascorbic Acid serum is for the morning anti-aging skincare routine and Niacinamide products are used in the evening. No more flushing/mottled-ness (is that a real word?!?)! : )

In addition to their Hydrating Cleanser, I also just started using CeraVe PM facial lotion a few days ago - and it is amazing!! No bad reactions at all, not even light tingling. Just feels and looks great. I can tell an improvement already. (For reference: I am almost 38 with dehydrated skin that is pale and can turn red easily - like from touch, heat - and also have a few very fine expression lines. This has calmed my skin and my fine lines aren't as noticeable - hydration, thank you). I used to be really oily with acne and can still breakout if I don't use BHA everyday. As I've gotten older I've gravitated more towards adding hydration, rather than "being oil-free/stripping all my oil lol", which isn't good anyway!)

You’re amazing! We are so fortune to have your expertise right here on KZbin. As for my use of Niacinimide, I tried it initially and stopped because I feared it was irritating my skin due to some initial burning that went away within twenty seconds or less. Both you and Dr. Sam Bunting are not only skincare professionals, you seem to share a minimalistic approach to skincare-yet still recommend the inclusion of Niacinimide. I have recently added Paula’s Choice 10% Niacinimide booster to my skincare regimen. Within only three uses, I found it no longer stings my skin. I have eczema on my hands, and my face is dry and sensitive to fragrance. I’ve been using The Ordinary’s niacinamide serum for almost a year. I’ve never noticed burning, which I would expect on my hands at least when I apply. None of the moisturizers I’ve ever tried worked very well for me until I started using niacinamide. I also have large pores around my nose area, and while I wouldn’t say the serum has “shrunk” them like the claims I’ve heard, they don’t fill up as much with sebum, so they aren’t as noticeable. Niacinamide really is a holy grail for me 🙌

I started using niacinamide about 3 weeks ago, I’ve heard so many great things about it (there are tons of videos on here about it) and even that it compares to the benefits of vitamin c. So when i ran out of my vitamin C i decided to order the niacinamide and i have been enjoying it so much. I use the paulas choice one, and the texture is really nice. It absorbs quickly and feels hydrating. I have dehydrated skin and can be quite sensitive but i never felt any bit of anything uncomfortable from it. . I use a cleansing balm, hydrating cleanser, essences, aha’s, bha’s, hyaluronic acid, retinol, everything alternated of course) and moisturizer so i am pretty in tune with my skins condition and pay attention pretty closely. I am excited to see results in a few more weeks!

Thank you for your help. I have been using the cera v pm and no stinging, it instantly absorbs and my skin seems calmer. My skin has been a mess most of my life, lately because I was going the natural route i.e. essential oils and skincare with ingredients that could be irritating. Your information showed me my error and my skin seems happier and so am I. Thank you again for your great channel.

Firstly thank you for all your informative videos !! I have learnt so much !! I have experienced stinging with niacinamide, including from the cerave moisturizing lotion which I have been using on my face .. I feel that the results have been good otherwise, and wanted to ask, is the stinging a contraindication for use? Ie is it a sign that it is doing damage to my skin?
@giulianacr26384 жыл бұрын
I experience redness, tingling and mild burning sensation. I think it's just a side effect, but if the stinging sensation is unbearable, I would discontinue using it until you talk to your derm. U can also try Aveno moisturizing lotion. Its really mild and I have no stinging when I apply it :)

I’ve been listening now for a short while but just in that time I’ve ditched the pricey products, gone with Cerave and La Roche’s toleraine Cleanser and layering of sunscreen... let me tell you my skin has changed overnight! No more inflamed bumps. I never realized just how sensitive my skin was to fragrance! Thanks Dr. D! If I lived in Houston you’d be my dermatologist!

I have some stinging from the Niaciniamide from The Ordinary but not Paula’s Choice or Timewise. I continue to use it whether it stings or not. The stinging may last 5 minutes at most. My redness has definitely improved along with my pores. I see a lot of benefit from it and I won’t stop using it. I also have used CeraVe for about 4 years now.

@asensions14 жыл бұрын
@@meganhunt4419 it could be because you use it too much (the sign would be that slight foaming effect upon application) or the concentration is too high for your skin condition, i've read somewhere that it works effectively just aorund 4-5% concentration.

Sigh, after watching you with your adorable Totoro mug I had to break down and order one for myself! It was the cute lid that got me. I just started using Elf Hello Hydration moisturizer a few weeks ago, which contains niacinamide as well as some peptides as well. It is vegan which is why I chose it ultimately, but it has some good ingredients in it (which is the other reason). I haven't been using it long enough to know if there are any anti aging/pigment/etc. benefits with it, but it moisturizes great and i've seen no irritation with it.

I’ve been using a 10% niacinamide serum and have experienced no stinging sensations. This could be due to the serum containing Aloe Vera as one of the top 3 ingredients. I’ve been doing this nightly routine after washing my face and before moisturizer and it has significantly helped my acne. My pores are smaller, but still getting blackheads. I’ve experienced significantly less hyperpigmentation and my face has become more toned (less red splotches and general inflammation)

I have gotten a stinging from niacinamide cream, the cerave renewing night cream in the small purple tub. I had been using it in conjunction with a salicylic acid wash, adapalene, and a vitamin c serum on a daily basis. I noticed the stinging after a week of this regimen. I had just washed my face with the cerave hydrating cleanser and as soon as I applied the niacinamide cream, I noticed a stinging sensation in some areas, especially on the cheeks, nose, and browbone areas around my eyes even before I put on anything else. It went away after about fifteen minutes and I continued on with the rest of my skin care routine. After a few weeks, I stopped getting that stinging reaction, and my skin looks so much brighter now.

Thank you so very much for all that you do to educate and share your knowledge about skincare. I am so thrilled with your suggestions about using the Cerave PM products for face and body as they have helped me overcome the dryness associated with menopause. I am 55 with very good wrinkle free skin but was frustrated with dryness and couldn't seem to find any moisturizers that wouldn't feel like they evaporated from skin within hours. Cerave PM products (day and night lotion and cream), the gel oil, eye cream have been a godsend. I can now cleanse and remove makeup not only with Pond's Coldd Cream but also with the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser without irritation or dryness. Thank you again! :)

I use it and have combo skin leaning dry with a few breakouts here and there. My skin isn’t sensitive unless I’m using Retin a or Differin which is most of the time. I use a 20% Niacinimide booster from Paula’s Choice added to whatever cream I’m using at the time. I switch a lot. I haven’t been using it long maybe a month. I use it once a day at night. It definitely cuts oil for sure. I have some redness to my skin and it seems to be helping that already. I’m using it for help with my enlarged pores and rough skin texture. My skin seems a bit smoother with the addition of this so far but not life changing. As far as stinging I was getting a little in the beginning but it was really mild less than what you would get with an aha or bha. It wasn’t lingering or particularly irritating to me. I have pretty tough skin when it comes down to it. I’ll let you know if I see any miracles. I do see improvement and I like I can just put in a drop or two to my favorite cream so it’s not terribly expensive and the packaging keeps it stable. It hasn’t caused break outs or anything either. I’m enjoying it.

I used Cerave niacinamide night renewing cream, it was very hydrating and I loved it when I put it on. But the second day my whole face turned red like lobster and got all itchy. And one of my eyes were swollen. I did not know what caused it that time but I happended to have the dermatologist appt the next day so i went the doctor said it might be the niacinamide. And he prescribed me hydrocortisone cream to reduce the itchiness. I really liked how hydrating this cream is but I cant bear it !!! So i switched to moisturising lotion and put it on my face which does not contain niacinamide. I feel totally ok.

I've been using the Cerave AM and PM since I found you last spring. I never had a problem with either of them, UNTIL I started tretinoin about 3 months ago. I do find that the Cerave PM stings a little bit when I first apply it, but it only lasts about 30 seconds then it stops. I don't let it stop me from using it. Here's my current routing for context: Night- If I wore makeup that day, I cleanse with Hada Labo oil, then with Hada Labo foaming wash. Then, Hada labo HA gel, Cerave PM, then tretinoin. Day- Cleanse with Hada Labo foaming wash, Hada Labo HA gel, Nivea (Japanese) sunscreen lotion, Cerave AM, then makeup if I bother with any that day. My skin: normal to dry, no major concerns throughout my life (very lucky), BUT sun damage from all that roasting in the '70's. However, now that it's winter, AND I take Lisinopril, I am VERY DRY and I notice that the Cerave AM seems to insti-dry my face, so I'm considering adding more layers of the Japanese sunscreens to my daytime routine instead of the Cerave. Hope this helps, and CONGRATS ON 41K SUBS!!!!!!! Hugs~Dee.

The Cerave hydrating cleanser stings my skin on occasion, too! It has to be the niacinamide. It’s not all the time, tho - I know to lay off my differin when I have any stinging or reddness bc my skin is becoming compromised. If I work w this balancing act, I find that I have wonderful results.

When i first started using it (the ordinary niacinamide serum), i used it twice a day and it did sting and some redness was there so i reduced my use to once a day only. After around 2 weeks my skin got used to it and now i don't experience any stinging. It is definitely amazing cuz i really did notice a healthy glow in my skin after a month of use and it kind of gave a brightening effect and definItely reduced the oil accumulation in my T-zone. now I'm in my third month and definitely love it, i feel like it is one of those ingredients that help maintain your skin with long term use.

I just watched this video and you’ve connected the dots for me as to why my otherwise bland night moisturiser and sunscreen stings my face when I put them on, they both contain around 5% Niacinamide! It’s tolerable and only lasts a moment or two with no other side effects that I’ve noticed, and I’m still able to apply ample sunscreen (as an red headed Australian so I feel confident to say that 😛) I’ve only been using both these products for a week/two respectively so I do hope that my skin becomes less sensitive to the Niacinamide and this stops. But even if it doesn’t, at least I’m confident now about the culprit, thanks dr dray, you’re the first person to mention possible stinging that I’ve seen

Niacinamide is honestly the only ingredient that I have noticed actually changed my skin, when I first started using it i got a little irritation especially around my eye area, after a week or 2 the irritation went away and my skin cleared so much. My skin tone stays even and my acne is controllable now. If I venture out and try different things I always end up going back to my niacinamide skincare because it heals the damage I've done by trying other things lol .
