I used to draw a lot as a child, I had no fear of making mistakes then but it gradually stopped. I am 32 years old now and I miss my old self. A few years ago, I painted on a 6x8" canvas which was terrible. Since then I have not been able to paint because I fear failing. Recently, I started looking for tutorials here and yours is the best so far. You have provided many insights crucial to creating a perspective while painting. I almost got tears by the end of it, the music accompanied by the rain and light thundering was a chef's kiss. Thank you so much. You have made my day. Subscribed! 💜

I really do believe the best advice given is as soon as you stop enjoying you fuck it up When I get too attached to what I am currently making, when frustration sets in because expectations form it is a good habit to take a break and get into the fun again by doing something completely different. some colour splashes and playing around with that on a different page, just drawing something that feels good to draw, scribbeling all those kind of things that always in an environment of "I'm just playing around!" I might not be able to paint what I want to but if I can see it as practice it's alwayys progress! when I get too attached to expected results is when I stop entirely and that is what truly halts progress

I am 40 before I started painting again. Find my self being extra critical. But it’s a process, we will get good again but the purpose is to find joy in it again to make mistakes and learn from them

What can go wrong? A paper? A Canvas? Think again... Your idea, like tour skills can only improve with the trials, don't be hard on tour self you only live once, enjoy those things that are things... Its art but It IS not health or money or relationships... be kind to yourself and realistic on what you want to achive and what you need... And give yourself something no one talks about: time and another chance a, you Will improve. I sing Opera, i know about doing It again. ❤

Absolutely fabulous tutorial! Perspective isn't all that hard as long as you remember your lines. I also dearly LOVE the music with the rain. I live in the PNW after growing up in the southern US for a reason. Rain! Relaxing. Makes my heart happy. Loved seeing you wipe your brush on the back of your hand. AS IT SHOULD BE!!!! When I paint, I'm covered in it. Splotches, under my nails, on my shirt and pants because of the way I wipe my brushes dry. Most folks have paper towels and the like and I'm sure you do as well ... but seeing you wipe on the back of your hand says to me "true artist".

Thanks a lot for teaching us how to paint with watercolors! For me the hardest part was where you said to add dark paint at the horisont, lift the sketchbook and let the magic happen. My bottom part of the drawing turned into a mess 🤣 However, I didn't give in, dried the drawing and added more paint. The end result is ok, but now I know that wet reflections are a great challenge 😉

though this was made a while ago, you are still teaching beginners! i just started trying watercolor and from you this morning i’ve learned how key perspective is; how learning to sketch will be key to my progress; how first principles will be key (even to me as a hobbyist); how overcoming fear of “imperfection” is crucial, because as you’ve illustrated, loose painting and impression are important to learn and require letting go of fear of “messing up”. and of course adding “fock” to my online vocabulary. thank you thank you thank you.

One of the hardest, to learn when must stop it, I"m still learning this yet. The most beautiful moment is on the end of the video, when I can 'step in' your picture, that was touching.
