They all looked great right up to the early 90's, and then the Dorian Yates era began and everything went to shit.

I don't know what you mean by this. I'm a natural trainer, and so are most men. So I imagine I would've trained the same way no matter the era. Competing is a different story, though.

Francis Benfatto has one of the most aesthetic physique ever. This man is shaped like a statue from Michelangelo. One has to appreciate such an amazing physique. By far one if my favourite bodybuilders of all time.

He's one of my favorites. His condition for the 1990 Olympia is legendary. The photoshoots he did that year put him up there with the all-time greats.

This brought back great memories. I was in high school during this era and it was great motivation that brought on endless dreams of becoming a pro some day. I never made it to that level but I have managed to continue training 4 to 5 days a week for the last 35 years. Thank you for the video. It is probably my favorite to date.

Yeah, wasn’t it a magical time? No internet, just magazines. Reading every single word in them multiple times to gain more knowledge. Pumping Iron (or any film footage of a bodybuilder) was nowhere to be found. Being the only guy in the classroom who trained at all and being looked at as a weirdo for it, while everybody was smoking two packs a day and eating whatever. And every workout was a special happening. I would so do it all again if I could go back in time.

Personally, my favorite era of bodybuilding has always been the 80s. That just ridiculous size and amazing definition has always been my dream. The guys looked jacked and strong, today’s bodybuilders look strong, but don’t have that awesome definition I see here.

Man BB is for real I've learned it's not just about lifting it's also about improving in all areas of life and when I do that as well my lifting improves at the same time, meditating, reading, hygiene over all self care, try and making more money, always bringing my best that day at work .

I was a 16 year old kid who walked in a gym back in 1992. I never seen to this day more stronger determined men raging in pure anger filled testosterone lifting steal plates. I'm old and still stacking them up but nothing compared to old school.. nothing

You're pushing it with the "real muscles" thing. They used steroids and hard work with good nutrition. They looked great, today they use those same steroids, in much higher doses, but they added insulin, hgh,oil injections etc ,and they look ridiculous.It wasn't more drugs and hard work, it was as little drugs to get it done, plus hard work.

@@axisofpeter - The “bubble gut” just comes from a different compound. Not *all* body builders die young and I’m sure body builders died in the “old” days, too. There ARE guys who take tons of juice, I’m sure, but I’m also sure not everyone goes crazy with it.

I love Strydom too. Very underrated. But in his day he was constantly on the magazine covers. He was heavily photographed.

Just made like 4 stringers last night from old t shirts and 3 of the “sweat” shirts with the hood cut off and a bit of the sleeves cut off from old sweatshirts I’ve barely worn. Gotta get creative 🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥
