I love it so much when people are as diverse as you. On the one hand gay but with a great grandchild, on the other hand so interested in what's going on in young people's lives. I also like this channel because I like people with big age gaps getting together and chatting about all sorts of things. It's so boring when people just get older and lose touch with younger generations. I try to be informed and keep in touch with the young people and see the differences. I've had my time and I like that I'm more relaxed about my age.

I have to say as an "Old gay" myself (58 this month) that I really enjoy these podcasts and think that all of you do such a fantastic job discussing the issues and topics. I actually watch them all the way through as they are both intriguing and engaging. I love the old gay perspective because there is so much there that I can relate to and I also love the new gay perspective since I still consider myself to be "young at heart" and pretty open minded overall. Great job to all of you and thank you so much!

Congratulations, Dan and Frank, on your wonderful 23-year relationship! Being with one person for that long is difficult, no matter the relationship. Nick, you have amazing role models in your uncle and Dan. Thank you for bringing the older, mature point of view to this episode. I can remember (I'm 67) the troubles my gay friends had back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's finding resources and support, plus the stress of their sexuality being exposed and losing a job or housing. What a sad time, but I'm so happy to see how quickly things are finally changing, and I hope the young guys realize and acknowledge what those who came before have sacrificed for them. I'm looking forward to part 2! Be well, everyone!

It’s amazing listening to different generations of gay men talk about topics like this. My only thing is I always thought “Queer Baiting” was used to label straight guys who overly sexualize themselves and promise pornographic material behind a paywall only to find out that none of that material was actually posted. I don’t have a problem with straight guys doing gay porn and playing that character. Many pornstars are “Gay-for-Pay” and that has never been an issue. The problem I have is these types of straight people taking money from gay guys by promising pornographic pictures and videos of themselves only to find out once purchased that the content is not at all what they marketed it to be.
@geekphysique45647 ай бұрын
I assumed you ran into this issues ? I know of a few that are straight and pretend to gay contents but never really promising any close to what they market. In fact it was all women.

I was on fetlife lately looking to find kinksters with a youtube channel and your openess about your only fans account helps me keep up with the younger generation. Just found this now as it appeared recommended in my YT. Fantastic, fantastic conversation. All of you so very well spoken. One thing that concerned me was the “young people not going or dropping out of college” because of how much money they could make, juxtaposed with the later commentaries about how that’s not going to last forever. And I’m not just talking about the money. I have gone to schools where someone with a sport talent makes them lots of money, or a lucky draw in some other field makes them lots of money, and drops out of school. The cases that come to mind, they made a lot of money, but still lack the moral compass to live a life I would admire and respect. I’m not saying it’s imperative to go to college to be a good person with a lifetime of success (I know someone who didn’t even go and I admire perhaps more than anyone both in business success and quality as a human being). But that’s extraordinarily uncommon. So, circling back around, I feel an excellent piece of advice consistent with the final point about “investing the money” instead of spending it is to save it for a further education. The idea that someone has to go to college just from 18-22 is, I think, a bit outdated, but having an excellent education is something that helps you not only think but also have a moral compass for life. One can make the money now, but still defer the kind of education that guides you through life by a few years and use the money perhaps to study something you’d have had trouble paying for earlier. But eliminating the studies completely can lead to someone later in life who makes a lot of bad decisions because they never formalized the thinking process as well as establishing a moral compass.

I am a 69 year old gay man and am a happy Only Fans subscriber. I far prefer it to the studio porn because it is not usually as staged, but when it is it often reflects the personalities of the performers. I love the performers of all age groups. There are performers who are over 50 and older. I enjoy the inter generational stuff, the twink stuff, the stud stuff, and the mature stuff. I have been a porn consumer since my late teens. My late husband and partner of 48 years also enjoyed porn. It is not a question of young or old. It is a question of affirming your sexuality and owning it.

Just to mention something that wasn’t talked about on here and that is the extreme stuff (I’ll have to choose my words carefully here otherwise the algorithm will block this message) either in pictorial magazine form or actual film and later on in video tape format was illegal to possess in the UK. It was also illegal to import into the UK from normally mainland Europe (particularly the Scandinavian countries). If you were caught with those sort of magazines at customs, then you could have been in serious trouble. The main differentiation between the soft stuff and the illegal stuff in the UK was whether anything erect was visible. This all changed of course as soon as the internet arrived, which meant the policing of illegal material became almost impossible after that!

You are missing a significant point; if you stay on a traditional track and venture out, your acceptance and ability to move in various circles only increases. If you move into only fans or porn, then you had better have a business and investment plan because, like it or not, trying to move into other circles will be significantly more complex and can be a liability down the road.

on the queer bating, specifically around the actors / roles, I am gay, I did lots of Theatre in my youth and I love acting, I find it totally normal to do a role based on someone totally different from you, this is the whole point of acting... becoming someone different, if we start doing that, gay actors would not be able to play straight, or in the past a woman (different story altogether, agreed), but what you're implying is that actors should only be type cast roles, made for who they are already, and I wholeheartedly disagree with that. And any actor that does only one role, is a bad actor...

I am 51 (from The Netherlands) and have had internet like since I was 21? And from day one there was gay porn online. So, when the older couple talks about 30 years ago.... I do feel like I myself grew up with the internet. I only started to really go party at like around 18 years old. So it is a bit weird for me to see people around my age and for them to not have grown up with internet and the ubiquitous porn on there. Gays my age with early access to the internet already were like dating online and watching porn early on. Gay chat sites were present from day one. Gay porn sites also. This eventually developed into the dating/chatting apps, but it is the same thing. Or this couple is like in their late 60's and they look much younger, otherwise I wonder: why weren't they on the internet in the early 1990's already? When I see the first seasons of the British sitcom 'Absolutely Fabulous' I always associate this with my early days online chatting to and meeting gay men on and via the interent and also consuming all kinds of porn. Not really much different from what is available today. Gays always were and often still are at the forefront of new developments. I realise that not everyone my age was already engaging with the internet early on. In this way I share much more in common with the experience millennials had in their lives. But okay when I was really young, like a developing child then yes I also was fascinated by the underwear models in catalogues. Whereas today the internet is present in the lives of people from the day they were born. I still vaguely remember a time without internet. But I feel I was so young and still figuring life out when Internet became a part of my life that it feels like it has been there all my life.

I enjoy the podcast. My question is around what age are the old gays? You said one of them is retired so I assuming they are in their 70s?

Not quite that age. 58 & 60 (I think!)

I see Queer baiting as a problem when it doesn't deliver what it promised. A tease, no meat. Often a practice by studios to tease the audience with gay subtext, but never deliver the gay kiss or full gay love story. JKR was out for me in 2007 when she outed" Dumbledore. There was this vampire show with the two actors playing gay in a 'back of the boat' promo teaser, just to bring more audience to the series, but never making the protagonists in the show actual gay characters...

27:16 Ant, you worded the issue with gay baiting perfectly! I can't stand this phenomenon at all and avoid the gay/queer baiters

Ant's eyes - they’re like two pools so deep I fear that if I dive in, I might never come up for air.

I agree with u that its really weird how the 45 year old is trying to make his 18 year old bf look like a minor in p0rn vids, but disagree with u Nick on hating the queer baiting. I thought lgbt was supposed to be inclusive...so why r we excluding straight men who wanna do gay for pay stuff. If anything it encourages straight men to not be homophobic when getting flirtatious compliments by guys n to become more comfortable with their sexuality. Would u rather a straight guy put out homophobic content attacking gay/bi men or queer baiting content that makes a lot of gay/bi men happy? Im not a straight man btw Im bisexual so dont hate. I just dont like how much lgbt hates on straight people.

Also, isn't OnlyFans based out of the UK? I find it so odd that that agencies shame people in the UK who do OF, unless they see it as a threat of some sort or a competition.

Good point, it is a UK based company; but more so isn't their problem... Its the UK media that demonises OF in their outlets
