Thank you, I again hope you heal well. I don't get worried about money or much. This is a fun hobby, I enjoy flying, studying, note taking, video editing and interacting with everyone here. I got back into RC and drone because I didn't feel I had a hobby, I spent my free time working, which wasn't terrible I thought I needed a different outlet. Bang here we are almost 3 years later.

Nick Burns 65mm standart tinywhoop frame! It's a perfect size! 1s/2s? Dunno, i think for most of the pilots (including me) 1s is enough. But quad Evolution is going really quick. In one year we may have to decide if we want a 4s or a 5s tinywhoop ;)
@striker8paints6 жыл бұрын
I like 1s since it means cheap batteries that charge fast making you able to fly more. As for size it really comes down to what you want it to do. From my limited experience I like 65 for indoors since even brushless it's going to be rather light and do less damage if things got bad, but for all around indoor/outdoor something between 70 to 80mm just might be the ticket light enough to not tear up the house to bad, but enough mass to cope with a bit of wind outside
@foigasindustries6 жыл бұрын
striker8paints yep, the lighter weight is a huge reason for not beeing afraid of it. My grandma is really afraid by my lizard95, but she loves my tinywhoop, which is not much smaller than the lizard.

Hey Nick, thank you for taking the time to make this video and for all of the other videos you have done. I'm sure it takes a good amount of time to make them. I also picked up ur65 after watching this video and love it so far, it is perfect for indoor flying. Now I just need to find some more 1s batteries as the ones that came with I'm not to impressed with. Hopefully one day we get a better option for this class. Next on the build list is a rakon 76mm 2s build after hearing you speak so highly of that setup = )

I've found with mine 4 blade whoop props stabilize and add control, and I haven't noticed a significant reduction in flight times. Seems like a great way to improve it.

Nice review and great flying! Your cat is as used to quads as my dogs :-) For me the only downside to these brushless 65s is the short flight time ... not much over 2 mins. I'm used to 4 mins with my brushed QX65s, and I get the same from my Rakon 76 brushless. That's the sweet spot for me at the moment - I don't find the slight increase in size or weight to be a big issue inside, and it handles the wind surprisingly well outdoors.

Nick my UR65 is brilliant but had a tiny "twitch" every 9.5 sec. It just jerks back about 10 degrees at this interval. Have you ever seen that? Nothing I did in betaflight affected it. I looked at the ESCs when I reversed them but didn't change anything else. Still the twitching. So I switched to D8 Mode. Problem gone. 65mm bliss. Thanks Nick, for being such a great source of information and inspiration. A trusted source.

sounds like a temporary failsafe, and/or the cpu on the flight controller is getting "swamped" with telemetry. D8 mode on these little boards is the way to go.

Great review Nick. I for one can truly relate to your closing comments (about making money in this hobby & this hobby is all about fun!). I started making videos on my channel to share information that I had learned about the few quads I had at the time. Back then, (4 years ago) all the instructions were poorly written, so information was priceless. I posted many many videos of quads I bought out-of-pocket, supplied "best places to buy" non-affiliated links, was not a KZbin Partner and never made a dime for my efforts. "I was as happy as a hog in slop!!!" My subscribers eventually labled my videos as "reviews" and called for more videos... then stores started writing me asking if I'd like to do a review for their products and the rest is current history. To this day, I have turned down more offers for review models than I have reviewed, simply because, "I just wanna have fun!" Doing "official" reviews is not as easy as it looks to our viewers (all they see is the fun!) but it takes a lot of my personal time (shooting video, editing, listing specs, prices & links, doing the research, etc) so my objective now is simply to get fair compensation for my efforts and labor, which of course, adds up to way more than just getting a free quad! I was totally happy making videos while out flying & having fun FOR FREE, versus "I have to do this review because the store sent me this quad." I'm am one reviewer who is all about the fun brother, I only review the quads that I ask the store to send me or my subscribers show an interest in... but mostly, I love reviewing the quads that I would have bought for myself had the store not offered it to me for review. (I figured if they're going to make me work, I'm gonna have fun my way... it's no fun doing reviews of quads that I'm not interested in; then it's like being a salesman who doesn't use the products that he sells) I guess you can tell, your closing comment touched me a little (in a good way) and I think I read between the line a little (when you referred to the top 2%), and I totally agree with you brother, thanks... THE END!!! (stop by the channel sometimes bro... POW!!!) -djsoulforce!

BTW, Nick, I just made my own 1s battery tester. I used a 1s power meter I bought to make power banks (already used one in a power back, by the way), used a female barrel connector and a male connector that I soldered different leads (losi, jst and so on) and put it in a Tic Tacs box... It got a little big, but it's working fine. 😊

Nick, at 6:04 "...I loosened my screws all a little bit and I noticed that the yaw twitches went away..." 1) Could you describe in a little more detail what you're experiencing that you describe as a "yaw twitch"? I have had a little bit of yaw weirdness on one of my quads and I haven't found the root cause yet, but I'm not sure whether "yaw twitch" describes my weirdness. What is "yaw twitch" actually in this case for you? 2) And why did (or why would) loosening the screws help that problem? THANKS!!
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
The "yaw twitch" is an inconsistent quick jerk on the yaw axis, its a small (5degree?) jerk and can be flown still. I likely had screwed down the canopy to much and squished the rubber grommets holding the flight controller enough the vibration dampening of the grommets was decreased enough to allow vibrations to get to the flight controller. The vibrations(noise) build up in the flight controller then it comes out as a "yaw twitch".It doesn't always come out in "yaw twitch", it can come out in a number of ways or axis. The remedy is allowing the vibration dampening (grommets) to work as well as they can....loosening the screws stopping the free external movement.

Great video as always! Question for you: The props look like they are just friction held on the motor shafts, like all Whoops. Do the props eventually come off the motor shafts after some crashes? I found this with the Blade Inductrix. After a prop had come off in a crash, it would never hold the same and would fly off in mid flight, causing a death spiral.
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
I suspect eventually yes, the props will come off and the stem holes will enlarge with each occasion thereafter. I have yet to lose a prop yet, but it all likely depends how the crashing occurs.

Nick Burns yes, currently my favorite whoop sized quad is a brushed one. Beebrain v1 16mm gold motors. 17g of pretty awesome bad assory. I have a couple quads up to 5in but my little whoop gets more flight time than all the others combined. So I am excited that this one you reviewed came out as it looks like a more powerful option.

stiff frame could be an issue with that aluminum guards. I have seen reports they get bent up and are a challenge to bend back into shape. I haven't see this myself with my snapper7, but seem possible and logical.

Thanks for your reply. The low value is 997 and the throttle min. is 4.5. All the sticks correlate between modes tab and receiver. I don't have much experience with what you are talking about so I hope i am giving you the correct information you are looking for. Haven't had this problem before so not familiar how to trouble shoot this. Just curious, the green light on the flight controller is blinking erratically. is this normal. Aren't they usually a steady light? Would this tell you anything?
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
the 4.5 value is likely the idle speed. If the throttle stick value is 997 I believe the default throttle min is 1050, so we should be good there. The green light does flash, that's not to worry. As long as the lights on the bottom are solid its bound. Do the motor spin up with a battery and usb connected go to the motors tab and move the sliders about the prop warning, then move the mast up just a bit or enough to spin the motors. When you attempt to arm is it flat on the ground or table? Also plug it in and quickly set it down. It won't arm if the angle of the quad is to great.

Great review. Love the whoops. When you were showing the batteries I saw you had a bunch of betafpv batts. Have you noticed them dying quicker than some of the other 1s batts? Ive killed 9 so far, all of them I get warnings after about 20 seconds of flight now and their only about 3-4 months old. The o lay other batts I've tried are the Racedayquads whoop batteries. I love those, their only $3 and seem to be more powerful than the betafpv. Rdq even touts them as he best 1s hv batts.
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
Thank you. My betafpv batts are kind of old and I have so many of these I couldn't say how many flights they have seen. It sounds like with your experience they may have reduced their quality after some initial good production, this isn't uncommon in the battery world. Sounds like I should get some RDQ 1s batts to try out. Thank you, I wasn't away they have 1s.

Hi Nick, recently purchase the UR65. But the motors won't arm. I am bound to the receiver, modes and switches are correct, the motors run when connected to Betaflight. The binding process was simple just as you mentioned. Any thoughts on what I might look for as to why the motors won't arm. I'm clueless at this point.
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
in betaflight what is the low value for your throttle? And what is the throttle minimum on on the configuration page of betaflight. The quad won't arm unless the throttle value (stick value) is lower than the throttle minimum. This is all presuming your getting stick movement in betaflight and have set a switch to the arm mode.

Question please Nick: Most of the 1S whoop batteries in multi packs on Amazon are about $3 each. In that price range, what is the best battery, for both power and flight time, for a whoop? I say that price, because I won't pay double that for the Newbee drone Nectar or actual Tiny Whoop batteries that sell for $6 each. No battery is worth double the price! JST. 2.O, of course! Thanks Nick... I value your opinion! Mr. Bat Out of Hell! Lol 💨

Hi Nick! Superb review, as always! My UR65 arrived yesterday. I bound it, looked at the settings in Betaflight, and attempted to fly it. It keeps saying the ultra annoying "Telemetry lost, Telemetry recovered" routine back to back over and over and over, etc. x 100 !! COL (cry out loud!) I realize if it is too close to the QX7 it will say that, but this is when it is setting on the floor and stepping back 6 feet, 3 feet, any number of feet...over and over it won't stop until I turn the damn QX7 off! Whew! I had the QX7 and Betaflight set to AETR, then I read in the manual to set it to TAER, so I did that. The receivers antenna is pulled out and down. It's bound because the flashing lights stopped and it will arm, but won't take off.... any other info you need from me? Any clues for me to get "in the wind"? I'm anxious to fly this little guy!!! Thanks a lot Bro! :)

Nick Burns... That worked! I was in D8 because SeBy said to for less latency in his video about the UR65. D8 didn't work goodbut D16 did, and using TAER as the manual said, isn't right... Must use AETR like usual for Taranis. Thanks Nick! Have a great Father's day, Bro!

Hey Nick do you think this would be okay as a first quad to learn the ropes of flying, flashing the FC, replacing parts, etc or is it a little too quick? Would I be better off with a QX65? I already have a QX7 radio I’ve been using with sims on my PC and I’m going to grab some affordable box goggles to start with.
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
You don't have to fly it like I did in the video. The canopy has the ability to adjust the camera angle, just start with it near level. With it being an indoor quad it will give you plenty of opportunity to practice. Get a hand full of batteries too. I don't suggest getting more of the stock batteries, they are over priced. Get batteries from tinywhoop.com or amazon.com, look for betafpv or another 1s 250mah or 260mah high volt batteries. Also be sure your charger can charge to high volt otherwise the extra battery voltage will be wasted.

Hey man, will this thing bind with any 2.4 radio?? Also, thanks for the advice, if this works with my radio I'm hoping to get one! I love the micro stuff, even ground r/c like the losi micro's....to bad they're dying out though!!

This is available to purchase with frsky or flysky protocol compatibility. The jumper T8SG is likely the least expensive compatible radio.

So I'm just looking into getting a whoop sized micro since I'm moving to a bigger house in 2 months, where I'll have tons of room to fly one of these. And now I have 2 questions: do I order now n have it before the move, or wait to see what comes out? And the main question, Should I buy this or an Acrobee? TLDR: This or a Newbeedrone Acrobee?
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
I haven't flown the newbeedrone acrobee, I have flown many brushed whoops, I always find the brushed variants don't have the quick motor response I need to fly acro in my house. On that item alone I prefer brushless. Initially these really small brushless motors were fragile. The latest iterations seem to be more robust. I would order, if you can. Last I checked these might be on back order.
@scootroter48596 жыл бұрын
Say Nick...Will the JST 2.0 battery lead squeeze between the main body and that horizontal frame reinforcement strut that you right now go over the top of to plug in a battery? It looks like it might just squeeze between there and allow a slight bit more battery lead strain relief. If not, how about if one were to unscrew the canopy? Will it then squeeze between there? Might solve the issue of the battery lead just being barely long enough. Hope you'll try it....??? :) Thanks for the great review! Damn you can negotiate quick turns around the furniture! LOL AwEs0mE flyin Nick!
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
if we route the wires between the frame and the flight controller it will decrease the vibration dampening. I took the canopy off to bind, the negative wire can easily come to the same side as the positive wire.
@Tetra846 жыл бұрын
can that power cord reach down to one of the lipo batteries that just has the plug on it? Is it long enough? or do you have to use the batteries that have the wires attached?

its long enough, no need for special batteries.

Nick, I saw you fly this on fb so ordered this before the review. At the end you said your favorite is still the Rakon 76 so I went to rakonheli to order, guess they are all out of stock, also they are 1103 now. They also offer an alum one, but you have the plastic and say its your favorite, do you prefer the plastic one over the aluminum one for weight? I fly fpv a lot and pretty good, so theirs no learning curve for me in the flying aspect, and I'm okay with breaking things in the house as I need a new TV anyhow. Just let me know what you would order, the plastic one frame or the aluminum one, if you have an affiliate link please reference it.
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
Plastic, it will give and return to form. Aluminum will bend but not return to form...without us bending it back. Also the metal screws in metal tend to vibrate loose and we lose them. Short story long, I prefer the plastic. I suspect the 1103 is not a big deal. I would actually think it could perform even better, more torque and more top end without more weight.
@GenCodeFPV6 жыл бұрын
Nick Burns thanks, I'll get plastic then, agree 1102 to 1103 probably no difference but it was an FYI is all. I fly kiss V2 on a astrox x5 freestyle but we have a tropical storm here in Florida this week and I'm really wanting to fly. Getting bored of the Sim. TTYL, I subscribed, thanks for the quick reply

Hey Nick, I've heard theyre using bushings rather than bearings in the brushless motors for both the Ur & the snapper 6 -7 and that this is a bad idea. Wabted to ask what you make of this as I know you liked the UR65 quite a bit
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
I don't dive deep in the metals used, but bearings are always better. I am not sure we can make bearing small enough to fit and run well in these tiny motors. Maybe we will see bearings in slightly larger motors that has a very close weight to it. Did the boldclash motors have bearings? I can't remember.

Hi Nick Great review and good discussion you encouraged on the RCGroups page. Do you find the ducts on this one affect the flight characteristics compared to the thin prop guards on the snapper6/7?
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
Its really hard for me to say, I would have to find a way to remove the ducts on both and compare, but I don't want to...so I don't kill the cat :) Bendict at micro motor warehouse did some testing with and without ducts, in his tests there is more thrust with the ducts, but that could be countered with resistance of the ducts.

I can’t get my ur65 to arm. The motors spin fine in betaflight with the test but they will not arm with the remote. Betaflight also shows my remote is working properly. Do I need to set my low threshold different or something else??? I’m using the flysky fs-i6x Please help. Thanks
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
when you move the throttle the throttle channel is moving in betaflight on the receiver page? What is the lowest value of the throttle in betaflight. The minimum throttle value must be higher than the lowest stick value of your throttle. Is the quad level when you attempt to arm? Maybe plug the battery in and quickly set it flat, or plug the battery in when it is flat. Did you set a switch to the arm "mode" on the modes page of betaflight? Also are you testing only in betaflight? It will likely not arm while usb plugged in.

How can you record flight video? Does the ur65 have a spot for a micro sd card? Or do you have to record from your goggles? Thanks.
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
Normally we have to record from the goggles. Only special fpv cameras record on the quad or we have to carry another camera to record on the quad. These tiny quads aren't good candidates to carry a second camera so from goggles is typical.

Should I get the default ur65 frame or something like the beta65 frame? Seem to remember it being stronger. My ur65 frame has cracked a few places :(
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
I have a heavy bias to flight performance. I would be more likley to buy some welder ahesive and repair it, the 65frame adds some weight I would worry that decreases flight time and agility.

Nick Burns They all rotate the same. Nothing seems to be rubbing. I also get twitches mid flight. Maybe a bad gyro. I’ve never seen this in any of my other quads.

loosen the canopy screws a half turn, fly see if its better, if some try another half turn. Could be the rubber grommets are being squished reducing vibration dampening.

Awesome videos as always which one would you recommend for outside mostly outside.
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I prefer this over the snapper6 and 7. I really don't like that in a week or so of flying I lost two screws on the snapper, I also don't care for the rubber band holding the battery. Takes longer to swap batteries. I think the flight different outside will be negligible and welder glue will fix up this plastic if it should break. The biggest difference is going to be flight time.
@Hellmuthsilva6 жыл бұрын
Nick Burns do you think is to small for outside flight or I should be ok, because I also saw you review the et125.
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
It will need to be very still...almost no wind, or a slight breeze. The ET125 is much more suited for outside flight, but not inside unless its a big warehouse or something like that.

Nick; were there any obvious issues with the binding process that you didn't mention in the video. I was expecting my FrSky version to be a doddle to bind with Taranis QX7S, yet I cannot get it to get beyond the UR65 getting into bind mind.
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
bind in d8 mode?
@kevinhill18516 жыл бұрын
Nick Burns My EU Taranis won’t do D8 natively, but my multi-protocol module does - but that doesn’t bind either. Neither does the multi-protocol module bind in D16. I posted a KZbin video for Banggood to take a look at - only short - any chance you could take a peek and see if there is anything obviously stupid I am doing? kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWqkY4qhgb5jrdU
@kevinhill18516 жыл бұрын
Nick - I found this at the bottom of the Banggood details, and I am thinking that this might be the issue. I have an EU Taranis, with EU firmware. “FrSky LBT EU Firmware D16 Transmitter can not compatible with FrSky version drone. You can change your transmitter to LBT EU Firmware D8 version or International version.” Do you have any idea what this is all about? Surely the D8 and D16 protocols are protocols, and there should be no difference whether the firmware is EU or not? My multi-protocol unit is this, so surely this is a standard FrSky D8 and D16 implementation? iRangeX IRX4 Plus 2.4G CC2500 NRF24L01 A7105 CYRF6936 4 IN 1 Multiprotocol STM32 TX Module With Casebanggood.app.link/0024it6btP
@NickBurnsFPV6 жыл бұрын
I think I see the issue from the video. We need to have the bind button depressed when we supply power. Its a cumbersome operation. The other way is the short the outside pads of the bind button with power first. I think the led can be mis leading. The flashing can indicate to rx connection and binding mode. This video shows both ways to get into binding mode. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i16nq3uKqZiGZs0
@kevinhill18516 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the time Nick. I watched that video, and although the instructions supplied with the UR65 very specifically indicate powering up the RX ahead of pressing the bind button, I had already tried powering up with bind pressed. I retried this, and also tried shorting out the button using the solder pads, and I get no further. I am still thinking this might be an EU incompatibility issue, but it is hard for me to prove this given my Taranis is forced to run EU firmware. I did think that my multi-protocol unit would run the non-EU LBT protocol and that that might get me out of dodge, but that doesn’t bind either. There seem to be almost no good quad models natively sold in the UK, so importing from the likes of China seem a necessity. I was all setup to get some flying on my main week off (the coming week), as I get almost no time to fly, and now I cannot even get the thing to bind! Depressing.
