There are at least two research papers on penguin poop ballistics. One won ignobel prize in 2003 and then there's the 2020 one that concludes that expulsion pressure of penguin poo is higher than estimated in the 2003 paper. general question for mover or gonky the RAF guy should know what im talking about, my dad was in the RAF, he was a navigator on the avro lancaster bomber in WW2 his plane was shot down, he was able to bail out and survived because of his chute, in the RAF at the time , anyone who had to bail out and lived because of his chute he was given the RUBY - EYED GOLDEN CATERPILLAR PIN , my question to mover or gonky is does the USA have or give out the RUBY-EYED GOLDEN CATERRPILLAR in usa as well???

The RAF will ditch the F-35B for the F-35A Lightnings soon, RAAF has a RAF F35 exchange pilot at 77 SQN loves the A variant, plus OPCON 2023, 2 RAF rookies did the conversion to the RAAF F-35A, they didn't fly the F-35B they were junior pilots, they saying the RAF will eventually fly the F-35A

That'll be interesting. The whole point of the RAF buying the B was for interoperability with the RN carriers, so switching to the A will mean something getting squeezed out.

@reso372 Helicopters and drones. Not a single fixed-wing manned aircraft. And because they decided to build the CVs as STOVL-only vessels, there aren't any other options - it's F-35Bs or nothing.

@@Philistine47 No they wont get the A GCAP will eat up all the money and F35B will get the scraps, the RAF hate the carriers as they always have, we just need SPEAR 3 and meteor to finally get intergraded and some JSM/NSMs and F35B. IF got the A we wouldn't be able to air to air refuel them, the RAF actually wanted the C but the carrier was then locked in on STOVL. Splitting a already small fleet would be stupid, commit to the B and just spend the money on tanker drones for the carriers.

@@quasar_33b I agree that it'd be a bad idea for the RAF to go for F-35As at this point. OTOH, some even smaller air forces are splitting their buys between As and Bs (Italy and Singapore off the top of my head, and South Korea may decide to go that way as well - though they might also end up with more total birds than the RAF). And it wouldn't be significantly more insane than the decision to build the QEs as STOVL-only boats instead of CATOBAR.
