THAT is why the Society spent the entire first half of the game testing the Gospels. They had to create perfect replicas for their plan to succeed, and to improve the gospels they created, they had to test how much of the Shinning Ring's power was being pushed through the terminals. Only when that level was perfect would the Gospels be able to work on the towers and undo the second seal and bring the Shinning Ring back from its confinement. In Trails, every detail matters.

So fun fact about Renne's English VA, Sandy Fox! Her voice is naturally high pitched like that! I got to see her and a couple other VAs (Chermi Leigh and Laura Landa) at a Sailor Moon panel! She once told a story that when she was answering a call, the person on the other end thought she was a child and wanted to speak to an adult. So she lowered her voice and pretended to be the "mother!" Also another fun fact is that in Sailor Moon, she's the voice of Chibi-Usa/Sailor Chibi-Moon. Which makes it even funnier that Estelle's VA, Stephanie Sheh is the voice of Usagi/Sailor Moon!

Fair warning for the coming chapter: there are a couple of important unique missables from talking to NPCs that were not included in the spoiler free guide I used when I played this game (I found them by happenstance because I tried to see all the NPC dialogue in the game). The first of these missables is available the entire chapter but moves around as you complete the main quest. At the start of the chapter the character who gives you it is near the entrance of the nearest the village to where you start the chapter. The second missable is gotten by talking to the owner of the nearest weapon store after clearing one of the side quests in the chapter. (This reward is afaik the only missable purely from seeing NPC dialogue that affects what is carried over into Sky the Third)
@SuperSupersoda22 сағат бұрын
There is another missable, If I'm not mistaken. It's a rare quartz, that is utterly useless for a normal difficulty playthrough of the game. That quartz is there specifically for new game+. On Nightmare difficulty in new gaem+, that rare quartz is an absolute lifesaver and it makes some of the hardest new game+ boss fights actually doable. For anything less than the absolutely most brutal new game+ boss fights, equipping it will hurt your ability to fight. I've never seen another trails game give you something like that. I couldn't figure out what it was for when I first got it.

In that last scene Loewe and Weissmann essentially summarized what the first 5 chapters of this game were all about. The Aureole, a semi-sentient supercomputer capable of manifesting miracles, was sealed away in another dimension that was generated by the devices atop the four towers. Those devices were way, way too complicated for even the Society's tech to control, so Ouroboros had to come with another plan, have the Aureole hack into these four devices and pick the locks of its own cell from inside this prison dimension. And the keys to this were the devices Weissmann's plan was named after; the Gospels. In an earlier cutscene, Professor Russell already mentioned that Gospels themselves weren't really complex enough to supercharge other things like hologram projectors like they did. In truth, Gospels, when not siphoning orbal power to the Aureole's dimension, were essentially nothing more than fantasy Bluetooth dongles that could connect to the Aureole and have it work its magic on whatever they were attached to, the way computers can perform complex calculations by borrowing computing power from servers in the cloud. That was what chapter 1, 2, 4 and 5 of this game were all about. Presumably, Gospels were an actual thing 1200 years ago, since Ragnard immediately recognized one. But there are no more functioning Gospels around at present, probably at most a few relics that stopped working loooong ago and that Weissmann, as an archeologist, came across. So the Society had to recreate these fantasy dongles from scratch, with trial and error, until they were advanced enough to interface with the Aureole with a minimum of data loss. If the connection was too unstable, after all, the Aureole wouldn't be able to properly hack those tower devices. Bleublanc started with a dongle that could interface with basic machinery. Walter's prototype was about connecting more advanced equipment to the Aureole. Luciola's version was an even more advanced gospel that could connect the minds of sentient beings to the Aureole. And the dongle that Weissmann and Loewe stuck on Ragnard was able to hook the mind of a super-evolved sentient being into the Shining Ring and the data loss was minimal enough for it to keep that mind under control. At that point, they figured that if the connection was stable enough to control an Ancient Dragon, it was stable enough to control the Tower devices. Renne's experiment in chapter 3 wasn't really about advancing the Gospels, but about testing countermeasures against its orbal shutdown effect. (Amalthea's tank could continue functioning despite the Gospel doing its power draining thing) That's why the Glorious isn't falling from the sky in that last cutscene, they took the technology that Renne tested and reinforced the Crimson Ark with it.
@themaskedfacade993923 сағат бұрын

I'm not sure if your spoiler-free guide mentions this, because I don't think it's related to BP, but in the next chapter I would recommend for you to travel counter-clockwise. Not because of difficulty, but because once you do everything there will be a very important missable event in the Rolent church, and this will be the easiest way to see it without going way out of your way. This won't make much sense to you now, but it will soon. Just keep it in mind.

Eh, that event takes place after you clear the hidden side mission in that region and since you probably report it in afterwards anyway, it's only a few steps away from the church. Personally I'd recommend doing the clockwise route, simply due to the hidden quest in that region being more difficult combat-wise.

The cutscene at the end of this chapter is one of my favorites in the entire series. From the music to the visuals to the sound effects. It’s so damn good. All of that plus the buildup with us hearing about the Aureole in the first game and most of this one only to get this epic reveal hit like a flash. I remember seeing a comment about this scene a long time ago that mentioned something along the lines of “Sky SC is one of the most JRPGing JRPGs to ever JRPG” and I couldn’t agree more. PUT THE JRPG DIRECTLY INTO MY VEINS, FALCOM!
@passwordswordfish483622 сағат бұрын
I *love* that ending scene where the Aureole is revealed at last. Everything about it from start to end just feels perfect - the initial lightning flash that becomes a literal crack in the sky, the bright shape emerging from that crack, then the light fading to reveal masses of strands unwrapping themselves from around the Aureole as it unfurls its wings and fully shows itself in Zemuria. And then after that, as the very first display of power it makes, it launches a total orbal shutdown that covers the *entire country* (and even beyond it, if you remember the border lines on the map). All the lights go out one after another, except for one - the Aureole itself, shining all alone. It really is just a fantastic display, so much so that it makes you forget all this was done *in 2006.*

Around this point I would HIGHLY suggest swapping out your party frequently, as you've already seen they can get caught up very quickly so there is no reason not to. No not all of them will be mandatory in future fights, but as we're really getting into the endgame theres gonna be a LOT of battles and quite frankly its better to juggle the entire party to keep it from getting tedious. Yes Agate is a beast and Kloe is a great healer, but plenty of party members can easily fill their roles for both DPS and support. Kevin can be a great tanky healer while schera is great with offensive arts. hell, nothing is stopping Estelle and Joshua from also being able to use both offensive and support arts if you set your orbments right considering neither is hampered in the magic department

This is good advice, for anything below Nightmare difficulty, the problem is that Nightmare difficulty, Sky SC and Trails to Azure have the hardest Nightmare Difficulty boss fights in trails. Azure is not too bad, as it's only 3 really brutal fights in that whole game, but Sky SC has so many boss fights that can take half an hour to get through. The Nightmare mode bosses all hit like a truck, so you can't really afford to take an extra DPS with you, you really need Kloe, Olivier and Kevin, you need to fight with defense and with arts for attack to win these fights. If you bench a healer in favor of a DPS, you won't be able to stay in the fight long enough to win. Sky SC Nightmare mode was tuned to be brutal on new game+, no other trails game is nearly that hard.

If it wasn't apparent before now--Renne's counterpart/rival isn't Tita. It's _Estelle._ One more great touch for her character, and, as is often the case with Trails, a unique twist on the expected formula--the enemy our MC slots in against with a personal stake isn't the big bad, or even the deadliest subordinate. It's the child soldier. And from now on, Estelle will move heaven and earth to save Renne from herself.

"I'm the happiest girl in the world. I got my happy ending. If you deny that, you're my worst enemy." Very chilling line from a very chilling scene. Well, this is why I mentioned that accessories found in the dungeon were meant as hints to the boss at the top. That anti deathblow/petrification accessory was basically a warning sign. (if the scythe = death JRPG principle wasn't already enough) But hey, at least you saved the game before jumping into the boss teleporter, which means we can laugh at the sight of the party getting destroyed without even getting a turn. I once watched an LP of this game and the player got a little overconfident and jumped into the Renne battle without saving. Because the teleporters throughout the Amberl space don't count as screen transitions, his last save auto-save was at the very start of the dungeon. Needless to say, he was pissed. He had no choice though. With Renne's S-Craft having a 50% deathblow chance and her normal crafts also having 10% deathblow odds, combined with that legion of robots spamming petrify beams, RNG usually isn't enough to survive the onslaught for very long. The Cloak quartz wasn't a bracer reward in the last game, it was simply in a chest in the Grancel sewers just before you opened the castle gate and have Estelle's team face Loewe. The reason they gave you Cloak at this point is because you're about to revisit countryside screens filled with monsters whose levels haven't changed from earlier chapters and they didn't want to waste the player's time avoiding random encounters that give no XP reward. Enjoy being short on sepith for the rest of the game. In addition to the sepith needed for even more slot upgrades, it's also possible to synthesize that level 5 quartz at a few points in the final chapter, but it costs 1000 sepith of a particular color per "gem". Needless to say, it's a good idea to give each character at least 2 or 3 slot upgrades so they can equip some top-tier quartz, rather than blow it all on one character.

for the renne fight... HA get renned nerd! sorry i was just really waiting for that insta kill, glad you caught on to what you had to do. In terms of world altering story events in jrpg, the next chapter is my favorite in any jrpg

Btw Nico the OST that plays during the boss fights with the Enforcers is called "Maybe it was fated" and they've also made a really KICKASS version of that song with Vocals as well and I really reccomend you listen to that version as well cus it's really great

that moment when you realize that Renne is an Evangelion pilot. Not necessarily a bad thing this time though, after all, who wouldn't want a giant robot as their surrogate mother/father?

The only thing I do not like about the Legend of Heroes series: You win a battle, but the game acts like you lost. ALL THE TIME. It gets to ridicious levels sometimes. Party: We won! Ouroboros: No! You lost! You lost to the sneaky snake cultists! Boooo! Party: Oh, we did! Wait? We did?

They kind of fixed it in more recent games. Where you inly have to get the bosses down to a certain hp percentage. However, they still do this far too often
@Talisguy22 сағат бұрын
There's more than one thing I don't like about this series, but that's the most _annoying_ problem. The villain should at least seem slightly injured if you won a balls-hard optional victory against them, not act winded for a bit and then immediately reset to full health because they were only using 5% of their power.
@dajungle401022 сағат бұрын
It's a bit of a mixed bag for me, it can get a bit ridiculous but at the same time I really love having recurring villains that actually get their own stories and development that the main characters actually frequently interact with. To fix the problem i feel like either we would have to fight them way less so that by the second or third time we actually beat them but we only rarely get to interact with and have battles with them, or we fight them as much as we do beat them for real and then the game would have to come up with even more ridiculous excuses for why keep letting them go after beating them, Or we beat them, they are legitimately taken out and instead of having a handful of really compelling recurring villains we get a menagerie of one off villains that we can't really get attached to. So all in all while it can get a bit annoying I'll take it over the other options.

I don't mind losing in the cutscene, I get more annoyed when another character comes out of nowhere to bail you out. Which isn't that bad in the Sky games, but it gets a lot more frequent in the later games. Its one thing if there's at least some foreshadowing, like with Dorothy in Ch1 of this game, but most of the time it just comes out of nowhere.

You keep mentioning Shining Poms when trying to catch characters up, so I figured I'd mention it, regardless of whether you see it or not, Falcom has a pretty generous catch-up mechanic. If there is a character who's behind on levels, regardless of the type of enemies you face, they get an inflated EXP gain, to the point of after a few regular fights, they'll likely be on level for the location.

While they don't specify exactly what happened to Renne, the implications alone are disturbing (especially for someone so young). These games can get rather dark when they want to.

I don´t remember if you have to manually deliver the data crystal´s to professor Russell, but you can check the data on the computer on the Arseille and they get gradually analyzed. So just check back near the end of the game and you should be able to read all of them.

the implications of something like the auriol implies a great many thing, the goddess is real, she was a figure that interacted with the people of zemuria's past, and the fact that there are 6 other treasures of power equal to this thing and Ouroboros is after them for some reason
@zhaoluyue199523 сағат бұрын
Nico has used a lot of the chain attacks in this game... but I'm not sure if it is really worth it. It takes 20+30+40+50 CP totaling 140 away, and push back everyone's time back, so it's like 4 characters normal attacks and each spent a round, but you lost 140 additional CP...
@dajungle401022 сағат бұрын
It depends on the situation, getting it all in on a critical like he did to end the Walter fight was a very good use of it. it's also useful to take out big groups of tightly clumped weaker enemies before they get their turns. but yeah just using it on a normal turn against a single enemy is generally a waste.
@Erpy8019 сағат бұрын
The 30, 40 and 50 CP come with a 10, 20 and 30% attack bonus attached to it. So if you're on a critical of 50% attack turn bonus, which is applied to everyone participating in the chain, that stuff stacks up. Making use of turn bonusses is pretty much the biggest draw of chain attacks.
