I dealt with people, mostly women, who were victims of domestic violence. They’d get Orders for Protection. People, it’s not a suit of armor, it’s a piece of paper. It does provide for the immediate arrest of the violators in future incidents. The problem with victims of abuse is, you can’t help them if they won’t help themselves. It’s a vicious circle. I could tell stories, one in particular, but this is not the forum. We all know the worst that can happen.

After his death I mentioned that I worked at Hertz at the Oakland airport in 1991. A man asked me if he dated me since I was cute. I told him no since the commercials were made before 1991 and Hertz dropped him after they learned about the abuse of his wife. It’s really sad that someone would assume that he could get any woman he wanted with a lower social status. I graduated from college and he was not my type. I had higher expectations of academic performance and less respect for athletic success.

@@MegaWicked89 there's always more to the story. They had kids together and he had a lot of money and power. DV is not as simple as people think and you don't know unless you've experienced it. And I was only 5 years old in 1994, when the OJ Simpson trial was being covered, but as I got older and somewhat more aware I began to see things as they actually are, and we have a long way to go, in order for the victims of all abusive relationships to speak up and know that they're not alone.
