I played Automata like 4 years ago and while I did have fun with it, it felt so forgettable to me. I played the first Nier recently on emulator and the new version and it just stuck with me a lot more and I loved just the concept of it way more.

Not sure what witches vs androids have to do with combat, bayonetta has so much more in-depth combat and things you can do, has NOTHING to do with witches or androids, just a better combat system with more actions you can take. @@MrHater-su9iz yeah the soulsborne series is indeed deep, actually this is kind of turning into the question of what even makes something deep. I'd say that something is deep when it's something that is thoughtprovoking in a complex way and it makes you ask questions. and nier automata does sort of meet those requirements in my opinion. for example the question "what it means " to be human is a question that is generally seen as deep or thoughtprovoking and this is also a question that is present in nier automata, though they don't pay a lot of attention to it and it isn't really emphasized on in any way. now personally I'm completely tired of this question and I think there is no point in asking it. but nier automata also has other themes that could also be considered as deep such as: what if humanity were to go extinct and from the perspective of the main characters: do we have a soul? but I don't think personally that nier automata is exactly the "deepest"story though I also don't think it's really trying to be and it was never intended very phylosofical. though I am just saying that I do think it's quite understandable that poeple would think of it as such.

Forced myself to play until the first save point. uninstalled after. Right from the start it felt strange with all the weird looking planes, team not able to dodge the worst telegraphed attacks. One of the first things the main character said was something like emotion is not allowed to the teammate being nice to her and then 5 minutes later she's balling her eyes out because he took a hit smh. All the fighting was boring. When I was fighting the big boss robot I "hacked" his arm after chopping it of?!? basicly the arm was levitating by some magical power and I just swung it at the bosses face a couple of times. The arm didn't move it was just a piece of scrap metal I was using as a bat. The whole thing looked just so stupid I couldn't take it anymore. Thank god I didn't pay for this garbage still feel bad for taking the time to even download it.

I came here to hear about the environment design because in most levels there is a clear lack of detail to the point where it just looks ugly to explore character models are not the best that is true, but the designs are amazing, as an anime type of art style music is hands down phenomenal, dynamic tracks in combat, boss music is the best, and ambient music suits the mood of each area, I'm not sure what music are you talking about I agree with you about the combat it is shallow, doesn't go deep, but that thin layer is still fun for most people, and this is a hack and slash game you should make the fight fun with your weapons and build, while enemies are just like punching bags, not that enemies should just stand there and let you play with them enemy designs are fatally uninspiring they are made from the same parts boring as hell to be honest this game stands on two pillars gameplay and story mostly the story

I just finished play-through 1. Music is amazing. One of the best game soundtracks I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Pascal is pretty much the only character I grew to give a shit about. Though I have a feeling I'll grow to love the train guy as I continue. Combat is pretty boring in my opinion. However I feel the same about games like Bayonetta & Devil May Cry so it's just not to my taste. Enemies were pretty dull. similar looking robots throughout with some android fights to mix things up every now & again. The android fights were ok. Could not take any of them seriously however & found myself laughing a lot at the pure edgy weeb vibe they all had. Like they were written by a teenage otaku. Few enjoyably quirky moments made me laugh out loud also such as "you enter the domain of god"! & getting a game over because I ate a fish. Story is nothing new so far. Typical "what makes us human"? direction that every single A.I. story follows. The overall look & feel of the game can only be described as lifeless. Which I honestly think is intentional. Looks & feels like a rusted old relic someone found in the desert & dusted off a bit. Overall it's a game with some cool ideas that were almost entirely executed poorly. I'd listen to that soundtrack all day though.

Good game design is simple. Good encounters(interesting interactions with systems) mixed with with solid mechanics(fun base controls). It will somewhat always be subjective but you seems to think that there is no objectivity to good design. This game obviously apes Bayonetta and in its design we see that is fails to execute on making fun enemy encounters. You are not wrong to enjoy bad enemy encounter design but you are the one who is pushing the degradation of design we have seen since 2013. Stop acting as if there is not a negative backslide. Stop telling me there is nothing wrong with promoting boring design. You are perpetuating the fall of the industry and the fall of creativity to mediocrity. By the way, the switch in gameplay is false. Nier did so in a correct way by changing actual perspective, this game pushes a false perspective. It is always with the character action perspective and never through an actual different perspective. Play Nier and tell me otherwise. The truth is self evident. @@BurgerKingNationalist Enemy encounters weren't boring for me. You had to move constantly to not get hit by enemies long range attacks, charges, and bursts. The gamplay was deep enough that even when playing through the game multiple times for different endings and perspectives I haven't mastered the gameplay completely. I suppose playing it at harder difficulty would also make it more fun. Disregarding automatas story is also a bit of a nonsensical bias when that's basically what it's most praised for. The world was somewhat small and limited but a lot of things in it either worked in a way to push the story further or embelishes the games overall distopian narative. The music in emptier places was more melancholic and the places packed with npc's and side quests had more upbeat and energetic music. The quests would send you to fight enemies or collect things from the emptier places. It was all connected and it's hard to call it bad game design. It's just a more linear experience compared to actual exploration games. If you look deeply enough about everything in this game is just something that expands on what the game is trying to convey with it's story and characters. It's by no means a perfect game and it has it's flaws but it's not a game flawed down to the fundamentals like you seem to be implying. In the end it's the majority that decides what is objectively good or bad. I've also played Nier and I see nothing wrong with how both of the games approached change in combat or perspective. It serves a different purpose in the two games.

My opinions on this game are mixed. I knew just by looking at 2B like the instant I saw her not gonna lie that people were gonna be divided AF on this game and holy shit humanity did not prove me wrong. Never played any other nier game or any of the drakengard games so I didn't know I'd be signing up for a rage game, filled with painful balls, nobody else seems to be calling it, but im considering it a rage game. No autosave, the fact that the epilogue was so long and you couldn't save through any of it. Rage game. But if that's what they were going for that's what they were going for and I cant hate them just for that. Could have been better for sure. It felt like basically another sad story anime game with anime stuff going on. The main villain was such a generic anime villain I couldn't stop making fun of him the whole time. But for all I know the devs could have wanted us to think that and make fun of it. Maybe they thought it would be funny. As seriously as this game takes itself at times its not without a sense of humor, not without a few goofy silly moments that were obviously intended to be comical. As far as I'm concerned they can make the main characters and enemies look however they want and people can think whatever they want about it. Welcome to anime. A lot of it is easy to make fun of. As a man of culture I always appreciate fanservice but I respect the opinions of those that dont. Anyway the game does get repetitive after a while and theres one side ending I wanted to get, but that requires you to unlock a quest which you have to get and fully upgrade every single weapon in the game, which requires other quests, and it got to the point where I had to upgrade a few more by one more level but I still needed a small amount of items that I had to grind until the game would give to me, and I just wanted to be done with it. if you know you know. You likely know who yoko taro is, and it's pretty much confirmed that he's basically a game developer troll. People will tell you he loves fucking with people, which I could tell just by playing this game but if you look at his interactions with his audience I guess that will tell you more. Wouldnt say hes malignant in any way based off what little I know, just very eccentric, real character, loves to keep people wondering and on their toes. the whole time I was grinding on this quest ending I could just imagine him cackling in his emil mask. So this confirms that it's a rage game for sure, but then again thats what they were going for so I guess they nailed it. I will say this I always like open worlds, but this definitely wasn't Fallout or Breath of the wild.

The final 10 hours? I just cleared the first of the three reassembly towers to get into the final main tower, and that was the most unoriginal design of a dungeon I've seen throughout this entire game. Especially when you do it right after doing one of the three "arenas" (in the forest, in the sunken city, or in the desert). It's basically the same thing, just a bunch of layers with progressively stronger enemies on each level - which doesn't really matter, because you hack them all anyway. And I already know all about endings C, D, and E, so I don't think there is anything more coming that is going to surprise me. Route C was overall very disappointing, just a bunch of fetch quests to waste your time, and the main quest is only about railroading the player into needless melodrama. The most enjoyable part was probably Route A for me. Wouldn't be the first game that starts out strong and gets progressively weaker towards the end, as the developers tend to run out of money. The frustrating thing about it is just that people claim this one were getting better towards the end.

I'm sorry did you make this game, Did you help design the graphics, did you contribute anything to the game play, or the sound design, or the music score? You wasted all this time in a review of a game that you haven't beaten because you don't like it. So here's a thought go make your own game! Just because someone makes a game doesn't mean the game is necessarily for you. As for the overall design and esthetic near automata is an improvement over NieR and NoeR Replicant. Yokotaro is getting better at game design. If you'd follow any of his comments you'd understand that the NieR series was never meant to be large scaling worlds. It wasn't meant to go to toe with final fantasy. As for the music Yoko Toro said he didn't want players getting hung up on the music he wanted them to focus on the story and the game play. But conceptually the music tracks are interesting in that it's a new Genre of music called chaos. Please find something you enjoy in life and well enjoy!
