Ben Stiller and Shawn Levy haven't commented on why Larry Daley is often grumpy or unfazed by all the craziness around him, but it seems like a choice they made together tbh. Given Stiller's skill for character development and Levy's hands-on directing style, it’s likely they wanted to create a contrast between the wild stuff happening and Larry's "been there, done that" attitude.

I'm from DC, and yes the Smithsonian is a network of I believe 21 different museums, art galleries, and a Zoo. 17 of the museums and the National Zoo are located in DC. The most famous of the museums include the Air and Space museum (seen in this movie), The Museum of Natural History (the one with the big elephant at the entrance) , and the Museum of American History. The newest of the Smithsonian museums is the Museum of African American History, opened in 2016. And in 2020, two new museums were approved by Congress. The National Museum of the American Latino, and the Smithsonian American Women's History Museum. They haven't been built yet though.

23:53 “they appreciated that kind of man” actually no. This famous photo is actually documenting a non-consensual sexual assault. The soldier, Mendonsa, had been running around kissing and groping multiple women without their permission and the photographer followed him to try and get a great shot, instead of intervening. When he got to Greta Zimmern, the nurse in the photo, a hollocaust survivor, she was terrified. You can see she’s holding her dress down as he’d already made an attempt to go up it. But, it was not just him. Many soldiers saw these street celebrations as an opportunity to “take liberties” with all women. Women that were screaming that they were married or as young as 13. Women were smacked, groped, kissed and stripped “in service” of the nation. In the worst cases their husbands or brothers were beaten and at least 6 women were gang r*ped. There are many pictures of consensual happy kisses of couples on that day, but this photo is still celebrated and hung in most VA offices across the country. Sexual assault groups have been trying to ban the photo, but unsurprisingly the male-dominated VA has been fighting it stating “it was a different time” and it’s a joyous moment. 🤮 So, respectfully… no, it wasn’t. Women were terrified. And that woman definitely wasn’t enjoying herself.
@nicolegross87494 ай бұрын
yes. Thanks for saying this. it always bothered me that the movie not only celebrated it but then made Stiller also kiss her and made her look like she was up for it. RIP Greta.

This one is definitely my favourite in the trilogy (quadrilogy if you're including the animated 4th film). Its pacing is quick, since it's a sequel we already know the characters so the adventure can start a lot faster. And as you say, they take full advantage of the idea, the busts, the statues, paintings etc. Hank Azaria is a hilarious but occasionally threatening villain. And Amy Adams makes for an excellent companion, her goodbye scene is genuinely touching. (I love how there is this undercurrent theming of what being alive is to these not real museum displays) Oh yeah, the rules definitely don't make sense. It's hilarious how they try to make you think Jebediah could die, when Teddy was cut in half in 1. The next film is... alright. Has some solid parts, but also has some weirder moments. I'd say it's the weakest, but that's only because 1 & 2 are so good.
