Yes, the seal is often overlooked by many. Nice repair.

Haha, I keep seeing you all over the place Martin. A good channel recommendation, so I subscribed. You've mentioned that seal as well. I was just given a 190cc 625 Briggs powered mower - loads of power, but may be toast; knocks and smoke. I haven't pulled it down yet, but not sure it will be worth repairing. Anyway, cheers to you and the Mower Man

My Hayter Harrier 41 Autodrive Rear Roller Petrol Lawnmower is in need of a service. The jockey arm assembly doesn’t want to return fully and the brake cable is loose. So the mover won’t stop driving forward. A simple wd40 spay application to the jockey pivot arm doesn’t yield great results. It still won’t engage the brake/no drive. think I may need new belts. Have you seen similar issues in your past or know any decent links to fixing and how do disassemble the unit to fix the jockey arm. The mover is a few years old now and tired but runs well just needs some attention. Thanks for your help.

Good video! This is one of those that crop up sometimes where you struggle to make profit because of all the tests/stripping down etc. Briggs and Stratton do publish a recommended sequence of inspections on engines to ensure the most efficient fault finding.

Thanks for this video. I have this mower and it has recently started to cut out after about 10 mins of use. Not sure yet what is wrong but think it might be the seals you changed on the carburettor

I've really enjoyed your videos, they've really inspired me. I've got an old Hayter and I can't find the engine number - there's no stamp anywhere . The carb and bowl were completely rusted. I've cleaned it as best I can but it's not great and the float keeps sticking. FPHA20 dellorto and no 96 is marked on the carburretor but that's not helping me to buy a replacement and the fuel isn't getting to the carburretor. I have cleaned all the jets. Is there a carburretor I can buy from you that will fit. The only marking on the mower says Easy Start Mower. It's a push mower with a roller. Many thanks JW

Hiya , I tried asking you about a carburettor for a Hayter which unfortunately you could not help me. However I have just watched your video for the Techusmeh engine and carb service. The one which you said was a pig. My engine is almost certainly that one . Could you advise me what carb was on the Techusmeh . Mine as I said was a Dellorto Fhpa20. Thanks for another great video. Any advice much appreciated. Cheers John W.

My old man has one of these and it’s “wonky” when it’s on a flat tarmac surface the mower rocks from the rear left hand side to the front right hand side. Any ideas on what’s happened? And cost of fixing
@Thargoyd4 жыл бұрын
Hi - great video thanks but I still have a problem with my Hayter Spirit 4 617E. Until last season it was running fine. This year however, when starting it the engine over revs to what sounds like max so I stopped the machine immediately. I have checked the spark plug(Not gapped but looks fine) Fuel is normal unleaded, oil looks fine - mid brown colour no sign of swarf or contamination - feels smooth. Air filter was slightly soiled so gave it a cursory clean. However, the problem still exists - engine starts wildly revving. There is a small spring on a lever behind the fuel primer, which is not connected to any of the 3 holes on a corresponding flange. Connecting to any of those made no difference. Any clues please? P.S. I used work in car maintenance many (40) years' ago so I know my way around engines (So I thought!) but I can't fathom this one out. Many thanks in advance Graham, Epsom

Hello there. I have just purchased a second hand Hayter 41 Spirit and the height mechanism has come apart infer the machine, so the front wheels have disconnected from the back mechanism. Each time we reconnect it the metal piece falls off the metal dowlin it sits on. Have you any experience of this please?

You referred to a mix. Is this a 2 cycle, or is the customer nuts? Plug was way fouled. Seems it’s a straight gas mower from here. Good catch on the intake o ring.

jim s It runs on unleaded petrol no need for mixing. The customer thought it was 2 stroke

The friction disc is something unique to Hayter. Don’t think the adaptor on a regular mower has a crank protection. Try and do work on the current Hayter pros. Great money in them if you buy them cheap. I have a video on how to fix the drive on an old 56 if you need any help 👍🏻

adamgc73 called Hayter after the man that created the brand just after the war. Douglas Hayter. First petrol rotary mower which is now a household name in England. It’s also owned by Toro. A global company.

I run my Hayter’s in two stroke mix if I run out of neat fuel. Nothing wrong with doing it. Those Hayter’s are made in China. Hear people blaming Hayter for it not working yet Briggs make the engine 😆

No way is that worth more than £300, old Hayters were great but be careful of the new ones.

Typical !! Pull the whole thing apart, and for what ?? these B&S engines are bulletproof 99.9% of the time it’s the diaphragm between the tank and carb. Now makes one wonder that this guy posts on KZbin yet hasn’t the grey matter to watch a few vids on KZbin before getting into something that is so obviously simple. The basic rule of any Petrol combustion engine = fuel spark and air. 🤔😜
