Hey its jeff, creator of 10t! One thing is clear to me: all of this content trickling in over months is how it was meant to be consumed, gave a whole lot more breathing room. Glad to see you're pushing on. I promise it'll slow down a bit going forward :-) Oh and: ofcourse the game was a diminished tribute! Just how the Mary Mary vinyl single in the last part wasn't a coincidence. Or any of the other stuff I crammed in there. Thanks again for the kind words and valid criticisms Nick!

44:20 I love how dedicated Nightmind is to acting this out. How much emotion, passion, and effort he puts into reading a transcript of a voice chat. He did not need to put in this much effort into his acting, hell, if he didn’t put any effort into reading it out, no one would’ve cared or noticed. But he put in the effort anyway, and because of that people are noticing his dedication to this. It’s something that is not only highly respected, but should also be used as an example of how people should put more effort and dedication into small things like this, because even if no one cares if you didn’t put in the effort, people will care and notice if you do put in the effort.

the teleporting segment felt like such an obvious homage to all the classic slender series, marblehornets, everymanhybrid, tribetwelve (still upset about what happened with that one but its left its mark on the genre regardless). The TikTok, the puzzles, the tapes, the website, the video game, the diaries, the new Twitter account with its own TikTok, all the paranormal stuff. There’s so much going on that requires so many skill sets and so much effort and time. I noticed a lot more biblical/Christian references in this part of the series. "Sulfur Lake Society" is a reference to the lake of fire (made of burning sulfur) in the book of Revelation, not to mention the verse telling what types of people God dislikes plastered on their Twitter page. Good hint that these are not the good guys and have their hands in the supernatural. Lily of the Valley is Easter iconography, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It could be a reference to the fandom keeping the story and H going, who X both loves and hates. I don't want to pull the demon card, but you're correct as to something supernatural happening in 10tapes.

Off topic but as a swede this arg feels weirdly comfy in a way, especially seeing the interior of h’s apartment room and the few times we get to see the exterior of the apartment itself which, if there are any others here in the comment section who are from Sweden like me, would immediately recognise it from miles away. Plus it’s pretty cool (for me at least) to some talent from here being represented and in general to see non-American talent joining in on the ARG scene and leaving a significant mark while at it. Was all that wanted to share with ya’ll.

Bizarrely, this got me thinking about The 39 Clues, probably the closest thing to an ARG I’ve ever participated in. It was a franchise developed by Scholastic, originally centered around a ten book series written in turns by six of the most popular YA/childrens authors of the time. However, the series had TONS of interactive elements. First, the original hardback editions of the books each came with a set of six trading cards, which would have various puzzles and codes in them (and one card from each book would eventually be assembled into a large painting having to do with the lore of the series). Second, each book would also have puzzles scattered about the pages. Sometimes replacing page numbers, chapter titles (printed on each page), or I think I recall some bold letter codes. Finally, there was a huge online element. An app called Madrigal Maze, released back in the early days when only Apple had an App Store, where you could get another Clue. But more importantly, an entire website with games and activities, and a system where you could create an account, see which Cahill Family Branch you belonged to, and input codes from your cards to register them to your account, which would earn you points, unlock secrets, and build the world out. 39 Clues was a historical fiction series, about the Cahill Family, which involved some of the most prominent figures in history in all fields over the last 500 years or so. The Clues were the 39 ingredients to a serum that had given the Cahills almost superhuman talents which is what allowed them to become history makers. But the Clues have been scattered, and no one knows them all. The book series followed Dan and Amy as they compete against other Cahills to finally get all 39 Clues and complete the serum. The codes, puzzles, and online elements helped to foreshadow plot developments, but also to reveal the Clues and add them to your account. You’d get them through games, like the Madrigal Maze, adding the cards from your books, giving you the Clue the book centered around, and collecting other cards from packets and completing sets. I was OBSESSED with the series in 8th & 9th grade, and followed the franchise even in to the next book series, though sadly my interest waned by the end and I didn’t participate in any online elements nor did I follow it to the third series.

X's speech in the discord honestly gives me big Beatrice The Golden Witch vibes, though i doubt they're very similar in their goals at all lol. but there IS a thematic parallel to Umineko and its metatextual elements- namely, that when engaging in a mystery narrative, there's an impulse by much of the audience to frame the author as an enemy to be defeated, when their written atrocities are, in fact, the entire reason you're here, and are in fact a love letter waiting for the right reader to find its message. puzzles are meant to be solved, authors would not write mysteries if they didn't hope someone would figure them out. it is not a game of competition but of cooperation

We had asked the vendor for burriots and they were some kind of weird calzone than had burritos inside it and he offered them to us for free and tried to give me a note and someone came and escorted him away. Then we noticed everyone was open carrying LARGE assoult/crew manned weapons (like, young girls carrying Barrets and Ma Deuces) and we we went to our car to find weapons and all we could find was a metal detector and a radar detector and we were looking for clues to how we got to this new reality and feeling very under armed and then I woke up. Wow. And I mean wow! That was a lot to take in, and only 1 tape further into the story. Everything that was discovered and introduced since tape 5 has been expanding the scope of the narrative far greater than I expected. Yet, it feels deliberate and thought out, like this was all part of the planned unfiction/ARG. Too often I find when a series takes off and becomes bigger than its humble beginnings, creators start to introduce more and more elements into the worldbuilding that don't actually add to the story and instead bog viewers down with an excess of information in order to create a false sense of depth to what is actually happening which only results in a total collapse of direction for the project. Or what I like to call the "Monument Mythos effect."

I don't always pay attention to the subject matter for these videos admittedly, but I do tend to watch them on repeat so that I can process them and really enjoy them. Part of that has been having these on in the background while I work on translations, and again, the cadence, tone and just quality of your voice help me focus so much. I always look forward to new videos both because they're interesting, but also because it's more sensory comfort that gets me in a better space to focus on difficult tasks. Keep up the amazing work and I can't wait to see more!
