For some reason, the thing that my wife and I find most unsettling in paranormal type videos is rattling doors and slamming doors. It’s such an angry and negative sound, and it’s probably an artifact of abuse from our childhoods. But yeah- even more so than catching a glimpse of some furtive entity, or the panic when you realize that something was there The Whole Time (!!!), it’s the not necessarily paranormal sound of a simple household door. (I guess it goes for locker doors, bathroom stall doors, etc- but it’s usually just a door in someone’s home.)

As soon as you mentioned Chris, I smiled. Yeah, Stuckmann definitely gets it. It won't be a high-budget adaptation, but it'll come from someone who's got heart and soul to spare for a project like this. As for criticisms, though - if I'd been in Riley's shoes, I would've disclosed my being a medium or otherwise sensitive from the get-go. I get that it sets up internal tension and the potential for questions in need of being asked, but in the case of something like Paranormal Paranoids, it likely should have been mentioned - if only so the friends get to sort of mock her the way friends can. That would've felt more natural to me. Like someone else said, vlogging past nightfall in front of old, bare windowpanes? Yeah, that's basically begging for some careful prop staging or basic VFX work. The horns and skull were spooky enough but again - it kind of detracted from what could've been a more natural vlogging setup. Almost everybody's got something to cover their windows with, even if it's just a spare sheet nailed or pinned to the windowframe.

The presence of the wendigo could either be drawn by Peter’s greed or it could be affecting him somehow to get her there. I bring this up since the wendigo is a spirit of not only of cannibalism but also greed. What it could want with Riley I’m not sure, maybe it has a need for her or it could simply be drawn to her, but I feel certain that Peter’s disregard for Riley’s worries could be influenced by the Wendigo.

I like the Paranormal Paranoids because it definitely gives me the same vibes as Marble Hornets. The early KZbin vlog style, the glitchy camera interruptions, the little things in the background of shots, etc. It all feels very similar. I'm still skeptical about Shelby Oaks tbh, I saw Notes From Melanie and Stuckmann doesn't seem to be good at tone and directing dialogue. But if he's the director of all of these found footage videos, then I'm a bit more hopeful, that final scene with the man at the window and the rising chorus of animal noises and screeches was really effective. Regardless, it's always great to see youtubers go from youtube to making movies organically.

Something to note about Christ that goes against Night Minds rant against the establishment. Christ Stuckman has made several short films that have made it into festivals and even went to a film school while also being a youtube. I don't know if he finished but to say he appeared out of nowhere or that he did not grind for many years. Even then this is not a major film and if you know about the industry there is no gatekeeping and instead, anyone can and does make features.

That sound of animals screaming outside the house of the `last message` video - I am Almost 100% certain that that audio was used in an episode of Paranormal State where (I believe) someone had built a house in the woods, using a bunch of trees from there and nature didn`t like it or something like that. They "recorded" those sounds and claimed that it was the spirits of the woods gathering or something, I don`t remember exactly. But again, I am almost certain that it`s the same audio.

There is other things about the video that just do not fit the time that's being talked bout. They tried to hide it better than most. But there are lots of times where things get too close to the camera and become too crystal clear. Faces are way too clear up close to the camera, both of these are specially noticable when moving. Things are fuzzy but there isn't enough random digital artifacting in different ways that would have shown up much more clearly on old video's... It's the video stuff that throws me out of it. So i kind of agree with NM there.
@LezbeOswald3 жыл бұрын
@Junzu 96 i totally think something's up with jess too. i can't quite parce out what though. part of me thinks that if n01r isn't mia then jess might be, but that's much more of a stretch haha.
@slime_sam43213 жыл бұрын
@@Quandry1 Personally, I don't mind the lack of digital artifacts. It would make sense given the era it was purportedly recorded in (2005-2008) and it woild be more immersive, but I think watching shoddy, low fidelity video wouldn't be incredibly fun to pay attention to. While ARGs are built to be immersive, they're also built to be approachable to watch.
