In this episode we take a look at some facts, secrets, and history of NiGHTS. NiGHTS is an action platforming series developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. The first game in the series required such precise controls that an analogue controller, known as the Saturn 3D controller, was designed specifically for the game when it originally released on the Sega Saturn. NiGHTS into Dreams... received positive reviews, and has been ported to the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. A second game, Nights: Journey of Dreams, was released for the Nintendo Wii in 2007.

I think my first experience with NiGHTS was the minigame during the pinball section of the casino in the first Sonic Adventure game. I had no idea what was going on at the time. :-P

What I assume would happen is that the gameplay would be based on _NiGHTS_, while the sections in Nightmare would have some the abstract and often disturbing imagery from _LSD_. Seems like a nice fit for me, although yeah, I could see it being tricky for the two teams to work together just for that.

This is one of the only rare examples I can think of in the history of game design where the developer was original and didn't totally rip Nintendo's ideas off. That's what Miyamoto is always striving for in his games, so it makes sense he probably likes NiGHTS and wanted that to be the kind of competition in the market.

Vaughnie JoD was meant to be a 360 game, but SEGA decided to put it on the Wii instead like a year before it was set to release. Forcing Sonic Team not only with the task of porting what they had to the Wii, but finishing the rest of the game in the span of a year. It's another case of SEGA making bafflingly terrible decisions and their developers paying the price. Although giving the game more polish wouldn't have helped much. That game is overflowing with terrible design choices that more development time wouldn't have helped.

I didn't know about NIGHTS before, I heard about it in the comments of a Balan Wonderworld and checked it out. That's something ! I wish my parents weren't that close-minded when it comes to video games. Because of them, I missed a lot of gems. Like, I first heard about Zelda Majora's Mask (a classic) when the remakes came out ! Can you imagine that ? One interesting thing about the Nightopians is that you can create Mepians by breeding them with Nightmaren orbs. Mepians are Nightopians with Nightmaren features (like a head or hands). These Mepians can also breed and have a small chance to create King Pian. King Pian throws rocks at Nightmaren and builds a castle in the level he appears in over time. The castle doesn’t do anything, but it stays in that level forever, which is cool.

Came here for Digi finally glad to see that Digi is getting out there and now because of this Digi's channel is finally getting attention :) I found about him through Zone Runners and then I found about Digi's channel and show and let me say its one of my favorite channels i'm subbed too and Entertained each video he pumps out (Which are Character Analysis videos but he does a lot with it tho its not just a simple boring video).
