Rarely ever clicked so fast! (Actually I'm staying up longer than planned right now only for watching this video right here, bc here in Germany it's already sleep time for tomorrow's early shift haha! But your reactions are always worth some sacrifices!!!) I knew you'd enjoy this song a lot and I bet you'll do so with the entire album. Though I'm a bit worried ONE towel will not be enough, not QUITE, for when you get to Procession and How's the Heart, because both the topics and videos (the latter especially for Procession) are quite heavy (no metal pun intended here) despite also having a very optimistic side, so you're probably going to cry your heart out on these two, maybe then even both of you because you're both so empathetic - which, by the way, is one of the reasons I love your content so much! Music- and vocal line-wise the other songs sure are capable of doing the same a bit too, because of their epicness alone, but... at least to me personally, the two mentioned are hitting the hardest, even though they might not be the most bombastic or special compositions compared to the other tracks. But that, without wanting to tell you TOO much before your listenings, doesn't matter because the lyrics and message are way more important in those cases, so imho it's actually GOOD they don't get hidden too much by intense musical effects. The attention gets where it should and considering Tuomas' genius I'm almost sure he wrote the songs the way he did on purpose. Speaking of Tuomas, "utilizing more of their tools" actually was one of the things that were most important to him and the rest of the band from the very start, so you got this one right! He wanted to give the voices of their wonderful vocalists the space and spotlight they deserve this time, all three of them, so they set the focus on the singing on the first CD and left the whole typical Nightwish orchestra thing for the huge final song. ;) Those news from Anette, ugh, I hadn't heard them yet, but this... is just horrible. ;___; I'm so glad and grateful for everyone who is staying home during these times, and distancing, and all the bosses who don't blame their employees for wanting to stay safe... (I love how you combined your optimistic words on the topic with this background track, Wolf, it fits so wonderfully. Insights like these are another point I love you two for. And those words at this point fit the topic of the album so well - like you yourself explained after stating them! Thank you for this beautiful part of your reaction.) ... I would actually love to watch you two and Tuomas having an irl talk with each other one day. That would be amazing. "This is gonna be one hell of a ride" - Wolf you have NO idea how right you are. (By the way, elephants are known to sometimes be tending to enjoy music quite a lot, too! ;D) On your video in general: I LOVE the effects, cuts, and the way you insert the bgm and videos here, and loved the opening 'MV' like... A DANG LOT, this was so well cut and so fitting! ♥ I always enjoy this about your videos a lot, but this time the visuals and combination with the NW instrumentals as bgm really were extraordinarily beautiful...! Very long story short: Thank you for this wonderful reaction, please take care and stay safe - and positive! ♥ (Sorry if grammar is a bit off at points in this, I'm just REALLY sleepy now, and maybe my languages are half in sleep mode already xD)

This touches me on so many levels, as an evolutionary biologist and as a musician. This is a gorgeous nod to the beginning of music in the Palaeolithic,, when we started to make music for communication and then for fun. Another masterpiece from Nightwish. Wait till you hear Tribal and Pan. It will blow your minds. Another amazing reaction!! Can't wait for the next one

I just want to say that I just came across your channel while listening to some nightwish. Man, I wish I had found you sooner. NIghtwish, being one of my favorite bands since forever, I Iove the commentary you bring. Plus I dont have any other nightwish friends around me so it's nice to hang out with you guys a bit. But mostly, I think you two are beautiful people, so positive, down to earth, and intelligent. I can feel your energy just radiating through the screen. It's amazing. Our world needs more people like you. And you inspire me. Im sure you inspire alot of other people as well. We all need to spread that love and positivity with each other. We need to help ourselves and help others not only survive life, but thrive life. And to feel our humanity but also our divinity (for lack of a better word.) So I want to thank you for your channel, for existing, and for being amazing. Love and light

Music in my opinion is a perfect example of the genius Tuomas is. The song literally starts with a melody which can be found back in NASA recordings of the universe and ends with the most classic Nightwish power instruments, it gets better every listen and you find different aspects after every listen, it's incredible. This album is one big 'let's unite", it's the greatest message a band could ever spread, I'm personally blown away by this album, I can highly recommend researching the lyrics as well, Tuomas is so freaking creative. I'm sure Wolf will be able to spot some similarities/overlapping lyrics with older songs. Shoemaker however, I cannot wait to watch your reaction, I need it ASAP! I think it will be your favourite, the story behind the song is beautiful and that ending... Yeah, prepare the tissues. ;)

@@DeniseHofs Great comments, Denise! You pretty much wrote everything I was going to write including the mention of Meadows of Heaven. I started to write how much I appreciate it and this song and music... the meaning of life and everything. It was too much... :-) Then I ended up writing just this: Music asks: "How's The Heart?" Music goes together with us in "Procession" Music says: "I'll be there for you, always... and together we will stand strong". I just had to share it. I already copy/paste it under the comment section of the original lyric video. I have to thank you for this. You really inspire me.

Tuomas set them all a challenge - including himself - and they all stood up to the test with the astonishing results contained on these two discs. I am not kidding when I say that this album has sustained me through a hellish week in hospital, in which I was not only fighting a severe infection, I was tested for Covid-19. Thankfully I don't have the virus, but I have ongoing problems with my bladder. I spent Tuesday night in hospital after being discharged on Monday morning. Sistah and Wolf...you are in for a ride - this album demands as much from the listener as it did from the band. I'm probably as guilty as any Nightwish fan who didn't like Anette's tenure in the band, and the way she left - but those words from Marko and the pic of Floor with her attest that old wounds heal. Having the worry of two vulnerable parents living in Spain, my heart goes out to Anette at this sad time. Humble pie tastes bitter, but I genuinely send my sincere condolences to her and her family. 😢💔

OMG! Wolfkain, you made me cry from 22:13 onwards so on point and toughtfully said, ty ❤️ I’m so priviledged to live and work in a country where not even the poorest human being needs to be alone and without treatment with this covid-19, the land of Nightwish 🥰 every soul is treated the same. As a healthcare worker I cant stay at home but pretty much everyone else are, schools are closed except from daycare, pre-school and from 1-3 grade whos parents work in ”the most important” professions. People are adviced to wash their hand etc. by the government and part of the country with worse situation was locked down for a while. With this virus it is common that also relatively young people with no sicknesses end up to IC and it is very unpredictable how ones body is going to react. So everyone, stay home, stay safe and stay healthy, use whatever social media and internet based thing to stay in touch with your loved ones and friends. Love to all! ❤️❤️❤️ And enjoy good MUSIC!!!

I live in Portugal and the a lot of people are losing their jobs as well and many are resorting to unemployment assistance. I´m from Brasil and I´ve heard the government is offering around 115 dollars (in brasilian currency) each month, for 3 months, as an emergency help for part of the population considered more vulnerable. There will always be music...( And I have listen to these songs of new release over and over , discovering something new everytime) When a band like Nightwish released their album , The timing is perfect , plenty good songs to listen to . I am in South Africa . We have been in lock down since March 27th . Alcohol and cigarette sales banned. I am for it. My work can be done on a laptop , so for now 8am to 4pm I work Monday to Friday . Which is a blessing . Many people are not so fortunate . Self employed people and people in the informal employment/ entrepreneurs ( hand to mouth type of work) are the ones hit hard. Like with you guys in USA many people will loose their jobs . If lock down is extended beyond 1st of May . The government will have to do more that handing out food parcels. These are difficult times globally . Keep well and take care of yourselves . Lastly , the sad part in most countries Politicians are politicizing CORONA Virus for own gain . Like you say Nature does not need the human race . World wide you see this situation bring the best and worst out of mankind. Have a look at this. for a laugh , it's a real situation worldwide . kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6rHlXeHe7FjsMU

Nothing to add what you said about this song, but you might be interested to know that the string instruments you can see in this music video are called "The Lyres of Ur" or "Harps of Ur". They are considered to be the world's second oldest surviving stringed instruments & are more than 4500 yrs old. P.S. Our government here in Finland has so far handled this pandemic better than their counterparts in many other countries. In a country of 5,5M inhabitants we now have about 3500 confirmed cases & 84 deaths.

Melisma (Greek: μέλισμα, melisma, song, air, melody; from μέλος, melos, song, melody, plural: melismata) is the singing of a single syllable of text while moving between several different notes in succession. Music sung in this style is referred to as melismatic, as opposed to syllabic, in which each syllable of text is matched to a single note. An informal term for melisma is a vocal run.... Felt wierd when I first heard it but I wake up every morning now humming "music" in my head... absolutely love it now... \m/

The world has been turned upside down, it's true. But, for once, there is no "bad guy." It's all of us, all of humanity, in this together. These are the surprising, and unfortunate, ties that bind. But they do bind, and there's a unique beauty in that. And music is our salve - soothing wounds inflicted upon us by the loss of a loved one, granting us temporary respite from the financial crises weighing on our hearts, providing glimmers of hope amongst the dark clouds of fear and uncertainty.

I love your necklace HalfLifeSistah! Also loved your opening Ringo Starr movie footage! It worked so well. I think the vocal technique is called melisma. "In music, melismatic refers to a style of singing first started in 900 AD and culminating in the Boroque era in which a single syllable of text is sung carried through many notes. This is in contrast to syllabic singing in which each syllable of text gets a single note." This new CD is ahead of its time. It is heading for pure artistic music. You totally understood how the tribal fires started to light one by one as the sound of the drums was joined by the cave bear flute sounds.

I admit that there are issues with social programs controlled by government but i live in Ontario Canada and i am very proud to be Canadian in hard times like these. The government and politicians have come together to do what is right for the people of the country. Having strong social programs and the ability of the government to trigger those strong safety nets when needed removes so much stress. CERB (Canada Emergency Response Benefit) Is a program most Canadians are on and it is helping stop the bleed and stress during this lock down. I applied on March 20th after getting layed off because of business drying up and on April 7 i got $3000 in my account ($1000 for 2 weeks in March and $2000 for the month of April) this program runs until October 3rd and every Canadian Eligible (Most Are) will get $2000 a month. A country like the USA with so much wealth should have a program that puts the Canadian one to shame. Love the reaction and review and stay healthy and safe physically and Mentally during this hard and strange time.

This song is very emotional and interesting.. Wolf you're absolutely right. It may be subtle, but you can definitely tell this song is actually very hard to sing. Of course we all know what Floor can pull of and have quite high standards, but still.. Awesome that you're going to do "Shoemaker" next, that might be my favorite song on the album. In case you didn't record it already, I'm gonna post you a comment made by a user named "Mikko Pöntinen " on the official video as a little context reference to the song: "This song is about Eugene Shoemaker. Here is his story. Eugene Shoemaker was a geologist and a founder of modern planetary science. He studied craters on Earth and Moon, and realized that they were created by asteroid impacts. Shoemaker was the geology principal investigator for Apollo missions, and he also helped to train the Apollo astronauts that went to the Moon. He himself was a candidate for an Apollo Moon flight but was disqualified after being diagnosed with Addison's disease. Later in life, he said, "Not going to the Moon and banging on it with my own hammer has been the biggest disappointment in life." Shoemaker spent much of his later years searching for undiscovered impact craters around the world. He died on July 18, 1997, in a car accident in Australia, where he was studying craters. In 1999, as a recognition for his scientific accomplishments, some of his ashes were carried to the Moon by the Lunar Prospector space probe. His final resting place is close to the lunar south pole, in the Shoemaker crater, named after him. The Shoemaker's urn was inscribed with a quotation from Romeo and Juliet reading: "And, when he shall die Take him and cut him out in little stars And he will make the face of heaven so fine That all the world will be in love with night And pay no worship to the garish sun." He is the only human buried on celestial body other than Earth. After his death, he finally got to go where he always wanted to be." I'm looking forward to your video on it :) Also, great to hear you didn't drop "Beste Zangers"!! I actually just listened to a few songs of that show and didn't watch the whole episodes yet, just so I can watch it "together" with you through your reactions :P Cheers, Julian

Hi my friends, I'm a 58 year old British guy, I have watched your reviews for a year now and thoroughly enjoy them, I look forward to hearing your music and philosophical views. I tend to agree with your analyses, but importantly I love the life/philosophy of life commentary. I would welcome further discussion on this in a more appropriate medium, if you would like to. I loved this review (and the others), the album is sensational.Thank you and keep doing what you do, it's so welcome.

Just do them all. Different, but worth it. Shoemaker next, then Pan (if you already know Harvest). And please, be prepared! The last part of Shoemaker makes people forget to speak properly etc. Pan is, well, Pan. How's the Heart is a little bit different, Tribal to the other end of the spectrum. Procession is yet something else.

While looking at your reactions / analyses I find myself wondering whether you got to see Nightwish live in these last four (crazy) years. If not, I think your community needs to find a way to make that happen. I'm afraid your heart might melt, though. I had the privilege of seeing them last November. It was breathtaking. They have so much presence and joy. And obviously their front woman is a taste of the divine. She was recovering from cancer and in an early pregnancy... and she held 15,000 people in a trance. And we had Henk Poort showing up in a Nightwish tee and having the time of his life singing The Phantom with the band...

Music is my mental health center at these times, my family and knitting..also I'm able to work from home. If that end we have "workers union" checks (about 60-70% of what you used to get payed when working) at first, after some time the amount drops some more (goverment unemployment "checks"). Lot of people losing work here in Finland. Taxes will go up after this to cover all the costs... But better not think about that right now. All the best to you. ❤️

Thank you so much, Sistah and Wolf, for everything you said about the coronavirus situation. Makes me feel like I'm not alone. Stay strong, stay safe :) Here it's been hard to maintain hope, though. The president says "it's just a little flu", tells his supporters to protest against quarantine and says we should focus on economy instead. He says governors and most media vehicles invented the disease on a plot against him (?) AND he just fired the health minister for disagreeing with him on that, basically. It's insane. And yeah, this song is a masterpiece. It gets better with every listen, and so does the entire album. It ended up being a huge gift from Nightwish in all this insanity. You are going to love it. I think "How's the heart?" is especially timely... Looking forward to the rest of the reactions, and Beste Zangers!
