Basically because he works for the band to shine. Metal standards have evolved over time, anyway: back in the previous millenium every song had a guitar solo and that's not the case anymore. Even Nightwish used to, in the first albums.

@@NephiAcaling Song of Myself is a song based on a poem by Walt Whitman with the same title and it is a 13 minutes song but they only play the first half of the song live since the second part is a beautiful set on stanzas recited by Nighwish's 'other crews', referred to "the loved ones & the fellowship. If you want to listen to the full song and still have the 'live' atmosphere, I have compiled the tracks, the 1st part is the original live and the 2nd part audio is extracted from studio track but with the same concert footage I put together, with the concept of "what if Song of Myself being played in full", so I improvise the clip here kzbin.info/www/bejne/onKQinydd8eFb6c

Loved your reaction - such a great song and Floor is an absolute monster on it. I suggest two of there slower songs for your next reaction. Do either Dead Boy’s Poem live in Buenos Aires in 2018, or Sleeping Sun live in Tampere 2015. Both are insanely beautiful and Floor will destroy your brain. Better yet - do both! Enjoy!

This song really captures what it feels to get betrayed and heartbroken. But instead of just dwelling on that regret and self loathing and feeling of losing your self worth, it turns at the end towards the anger you feel, to the fact that it's not you fault that you were betrayed and the other shall feel your anger and hate, they will not see not you pleading for them. So it's not negative song about heartbreak, just aggressive.

There's so much great bands in Metal and a lot got underrated or not talked about. Nightwish is one of those bands that is very well known and in essence a gateway for people to get into Metal. But trust me there's so much more if you dig deeper. There's so many subgenres of Metal that there's always something for everyone.

Check out 'She is my Sin' on Wacken 2013, 'Story Time' and 'I want my tears back' are also pretty neat. Elan in Buenos Aires is s bit calmer. Emppu is one of the on his field, he sticks to the plan and doesn't really show off but with this his playing always fits te song. And Tuomas works pretty hard on the songs for them to fit everybody so they can perform them.

Just because you can shred and tap doesn't mean you have to do it on every song. Emppu plays what is needed for the individual song. Some of his solos rip your heart out, and others leave you gasping for breath. A truly great musician.

I love watching you react to Nightwish. You obviously have a keen ear and great appreciation for pure talent, wonderful song composition, and overall charisma and stage presence. I did not realize that you would enjoy the heavier side of Nightwish as much as you expressed. The glissando towards the ending was amazingly done by both Marco and Floor. Once Marco reached the top of his range in the key of D, he held that note while Floor continued up another full octave until it was almost a siren sound. I think this was a D6 or maybe a D7? Is that even possible? I would love to hear your opinion on this. I would love to see and hear your reaction to "Ever Dream" & "Story Time" both songs from Wacken 2013. If you want to get on another journey with a different band: Rammstein Just like Nightwish always the live versions (although their videos are magnificent, too). A good start is "Du Hast", the Paris Version! Awesome crowd control, maximum power/energy and a pyro effect you've never seen anywhere else. From there a couple of great songs can follow.
