Thank you for a nice reaction, as well as for the shout-out. You should know that the list I'm promoting is organized relatively chronologically, but starting with the recent era of the band (with Floor), which we still have the chance to see performing live, in concerts, and after that - the previous iterations of the band. The list contains the most successful performances, recorded in good audio and video quality, but it is far from exhaustive - and consequently it is not a mandatory path to follow. You will often receive suggestions in the comments, many of them perhaps more appropriate. So I encourage you not to limit yourself to the list and to feel free to choose a personal path in this true ocean of good music. For example, your reaction to Marco in Tarot seemed to me a very good choice, because that way you will understand more easily the "roots" of each member of the band, taking into account that most of them had and have personal projects outside of Nightwish.

The great thing about Nightwish is that every song is different. You won't have to worry about getting bored listening to variations on a theme, over and over. I'm not a vocal expert, not even close. But, I do remember hearing one reactor, who is, explain that part of the reason that Floor moves around so much on stage is that it releases the tension in her body and enables her to remain relaxed, which is important for a good vocal performance. Romanticide is a banger that gives every member of the band a chance to shine. I think you'll enjoy it. Scratch that -- I know you'll enjoy it.

I am an admitted fanboy, ever since I first saw Ghost Love Score. Objectively though, in addition to her generational talent voice what struck me immediately was she was one of the most powerful and charismatic front people I've ever seen. Comparable would be the like of Robert plant live at Madison Square Garden. While Plant had forceful and raw sexuality, Floor seems to make a personal, emotional connection with the audience.

No worries MommaOG. Nightwish is a very unique band and it sometimes helps to go in a certain order to help you to understand the journey better. Floor has musical theater training which she uses to great effect. She moves and acts out the emotion and the story of the song. Many of the compositions from Tuomas revolve around recapturing lost innocence of youth. They will probably be back on tour in 2026. Don't miss it. It is a once in a lifetime memory to experience Floor and the boys in a live performance. I saw them for the first time in 2022 and will never forget it. I am a old guy who has seen all of the legends of rock/metal and they were the top.

Cheers from inferno central in SoCal. Welcome to the ranks of the Nightwish Army. I’ve been enjoying your start on the NW journey. Can’t wait to live vicariously through your awe and wonder that comes with this band. You had a Floorgasm with this song… there are many more coming. I don’t have Gabriel’s list in front of me, but if I were giving advice it would be to react to every performance from this 2013 Wacken concert. In my 70 years it easily ranks among the top 5 concerts I’ve witnessed in my lifetime.

Greetings from Arkansa USA. No harm no foul on doin' GSOE 2nd. You're doin' fine. There's no way you captured everything in GSOE the 1st time listening, I know I didn't. I wanted to understand all of it so I printed the lyrics, then I googled all of the words and terms I didn't know or my memory was fuzzy on. The I listened again, holy smokes, doing that opened up the song to a completely new understanding. As for Storytime, what metal band writes lyrics that include references to Peter Pan in one of their songs. Nightwish does it as easily as the sun coming up in the east. You have so much fun and great music in front of you. Enjoy all of it.

Well, except our Valkyrie Goddess, ofc. Nightwish is their own genre and no other band comes close to the level they are at. Never, in the history of music entertainment, have a set of skills and talent collided in such powerful manner. Tuomas is a true genius as a composer and with lyrics!

Hello again, greetings from UK I am loving following your journey, thank you for your reactions You will love Romanticide, it is a true Metal song and shows more of the band's talent. Emppu has a great guitar solo in that song Floor uses her whole body as an instrument as you have seen. In 'The Greatest Show On Earth' her windmills were perfectly timed and Floor's facial expressions can be slight but engaging. A lot of the times when she has her hand raised it is to help open the airways to promote great singing and she always has great posture. Singing on a smile is also a great vocal technique to get the mouth shape right for the sounds she wants to produce Watching Vocal Coach reactions to Floor seems to have taught me a few things 😂

Everyone praises Floor's vocal ability and stage presence but I don't see enough people talking about how she emotes and articulates the music through her body language and hand gestures. It's easy to overlook because it feels so natural as part of the way she performs the story, but I completely agree, that is her trademark, and one of the many reasons she's so captivating to watch. My favorite part of her performance here hasn't changed since the first time I saw this video, the little sway she does at 09:41, it's such a small thing, but I love it so much.

Hi there, yes! I agree, there is something theatrical about Nightwish and their performances. You don't just go to hear the band play songs, but go to enjoy the whole experience, just like you would with a stage show. I love movie soundtracks, and am often the last person in a cinema listening to the ending score whilst everyone else is leaving. My favourites include Hans Zimmer, John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith. You're right there too, I believe that Toumas, the band's main composer (The guy on the Keyboards) cites Hans Zimmer as one of his inspirations. Thank you so much for your time in listening to the band and their music, and sharing that experience with us. I hope you continue to listen and share with us. Also, as I think Gabriel has already commented, the order most certainly isn't mandatory. I believe that there is a small like next to each saying what vibe the track has. If you're in a certain mood, then just go with it :) Kind Regards from the UK.

@@kurtsharp1409 Nightwish music videos are often very artistic mini movies, and for the Imaginarium album, I heard that the album music videos turned into a full length movie with the music part of the soundtrack. It is about an aging composer. I think the band has good connections with the Finnish movie business. I think at some point Tuomas has said that he knows the music business is complicated, and that he came to realize that making movies is even more complex.

The very first Nightwish song/video I ever saw was The Greatest Show on Earth at Wembley, and I was instantly hooked on a band I had never listened to before. Enjoy songs you find on Gabriel's great list in whatever order you prefer. There is a variety of styles, and the list highlights the kind of song. Floor is not a dancer, but she moves in a dramatic, sometimes very sensual way. A delight to watch her express the song's emotion with her body, hands, and expressions. Watch her eyes also.

MommaOG. I find myself at loss for words, so I will tell you how I feel instead. Like others of our Nightwish Army family, I relived my first experience with this epic song, "Storytime" through your reaction. Some reactors to Nightwish's masterpieces are technical, I like them too, but frankly, I am no music expert. I just know what I like when I hear it. I don't need to be a music-wizard to appreciate the fact that I love some songs more and some songs less. Storytime is a song that I like more than most songs! Better yet, every Nightwish song is way better for me than a lot of other stuff out there. I am 70, I've loved a few bands and a lot of songs, but Nightwish is the band I've waited my entire life for, without even knowing it! Credit where credit is due: I "discovered" Nightwish through a technical reactor, she is an opera singer and a mom who goes by the name: The Charismatic Voice. BTW, She actually got to do a full interview with Floor Jansen! (it's here on KZbin). Now, you have joined a long line of Nightwish reactors. I suspect that many of our fellow members will agree here: We look forward to each and every one of your new Nightwish reaction videos, and thank you for joining our mighty Nightwish Army. Your fellow Nightwish Army member, from OUTPOST EATONVILLE, out.😊

No, you do not sound stupid at all. Floor's movements belong to her like her voice. She has trained to perform in her one year studies of music theatre but her movements always come directly from her heart. With several of them she seems to embrace the crowd and in my opinion she really means it this way. She loves performing and the connection with the audience. Therefore she is so sad that Nightwish does not tour the new album "Yesterwynde", but she will tour solo in 2025.

Currently not touring because A) Floor had her second daughter and was given "mommy time" (well, they came to Floor to record her vocals for the album in her home studio six weeks post birth). Dont take Gabriels list as a fefinitive set with the order. It is a guide to be used as you wish - for example you may decide you want something Celtic, look at the list and choose My Walden. Or hard metal and choose Romanticide. Order doesn't matter. Nightwish have played 180 shows in the US but are not touring the current album. Auri tours this year and we await news of any shows for the 30th anniversary in 2026. An elderly writer looks back on his life of storytelling and all the other stories recalled from the past - including of course Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. This tour was to promote the album Imaginaerum (not ImaginARIum) and the band are the actors in the eponymous movie which was premiered at the November 2012 Helsinki concert. That movie, dark and disturbing in some ways, casts a lot of light on the songs from the album and includes many of them. Watching it will explain a lot of the lyrics and stories told in the songs In Storytime you get the "writer by the fire" imagining "all of Gaia", the storyteller who takes a "journey into a child-man's heart" (ie Tuomas who is a great Disney and Fantasy fan). The "painter on the shore" tells his stories through pictures rather than writing, holding the snowflake in his palm. This refers to the movie in which a snow globe plays an important symbolic role tying things together. Kites, chimneys, moonlit sights - think of Mary Poppins... I recommend the movie. Wacken, was a great show. But Floor has matured and got even better over the years. A couple of years later Wembley and Tampere were in the Endless Forms tour and you can see how Floor has grown into the role. I prefer both those shows, as shows (I wouldn't want to be without the performances at Wacken though. After all, without Wacken we wouldn't have a Floor performance on video of my No 2 Song of Myself). Best of all is 2018 at Buenos Aires which celebrated the Decades retrospective of 20+ years touring and brought back many early songs, reinterpreted and in most cases improved, with Floor. Of my top 6, 2 are from that show - Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean and Dead Boy's Poem and others are close behind (Slaying the Dreamer, Gethsemane, The Carpenter, End of All Hope and the opening Uilleann Pipe solo reinterpretation of Swanheart are among them but there are more).
