LYRICS: Gone is the hurt, the wait Gone is the warmth of day A stray boat saved, happy memories engraved On into a velvety night Beneath a lanternlight Last night brought the heaviest of snows Melting the songs of old Tying the boat, write a new one soon Sending me to the drowning moon Far above a lanternlight I`m in the light and flood I`m in the four winds I am the waves shaping pebbles flawless gems I am the snow on your palm I am the secret stream Moss beneath your feet I am you who climbed off of my back Not long ago A sheltered song In a world now gone Petrichor The timeless Turn loose the swaying boat Meltwater, sound of spring I hear our song now, sung by the free For a thousand more tomorrows Of an incomplete weave To the meadows I go I’ll be waiting for you Once upon a lanternlight I walk now toward the trees The night falling at my feet Into the forest of Yesterwynde

There have been great bands in history, but few of them envolved as Nightwish does. Its eras are not marked by singers, but by exploring. The unpredictable, I don't even know how to describe it. Exquisite album.

This is the most beautiful, soul gripping, heart stringing, fulfilling, masterful celebration for, and remembrance of, Tuomas’, anyone’s, father ❤️🔥 Tuomas is an absolute musical & LYRICAL genius! My father, the strongest man I know and the cornerstones of my entire being/life, passed on cpl of years ago; on the waining hour of my Birthday. He had endured physically and emotionally for 20+ years after multiple strokes and health challenges. His peaceful passing on was a true blessing; so much so that I had yet to shed one tear; until now! The combination of Tuomas’ yet another compositional and lyrical masterpiece and its manifestation by Floor and Troy, Nightwish. finally opened , on a good note, my floodgates 💦💦😭😭 No amount of Finnish 🇫🇮 inner strength enhancing, emotion blocking, words (sisu, saatana, perkele) could hold back the desperately needed and necessary outpouring of emotions; reflections, remembrance, appreciation, flashbacks, re-lived joy, 💙 4 ❄️, and eternal love. Genuine happy tears do have healing powers! Tuomas, Floor, Nightwish, “Lanternlight” -💙 and thank you to The G.O.A.T. IMHO, there has never been, there will never be, another Nightwish!

I think that, among other things, this song is in part a tribute to Tuomas' father who he lost during the Covid quarantines and which was especially tough for him. There are lyrics in referencing back to "Our Decades in the Sun" which was written before his father passed but also references to him, Tuomas, being of "the timeless" which coincides with the first single from this album and Tuomas being his fathers descendant is "the perfume of the timeless" as are all who honor our fore-bearers memories and keep them close within us. Just my first thoughts on this incredible song!

In a beautiful suburban home on a cold winter night in the northeast, a elder man who lived a fulfilled life who accomplished his dreams spoke to his children. I love all of you. Love one another and always remember to love yourselves and your purpose in life.I hear your grandmother and all her brothers and sisters. I love all of you. Until we meet again,". Even after decades of being in love with and spellbound by Nightwish, angelic creations like "Lanternlight" always make me feel like coming home whenever these once-in-a-lifetime artists release a new album - a sentiment of ascending to the "Meadows of Heaven" formerly sung about, like a hearth fire warming the soul in the eternal winter people create by what they're doing to this beautiful planet, like a silky-soft blanket covering the wounds life inflicted on so many of us with the solace of picturesque poetry and verses from a world of ethereal peace.❄️🌙🤍🕯No matter which era of Nightwish we're talking about, no matter what singer has been bringing these monuments of music to life, it's always Tuomas' infinite spirit that's shining through and setting Nightwish apart from any other band. I'm speaking of the Nightwish feel that is being evoked no matter which song you're listening to, a safe haven where all ocean souls can feel understood and embraced by the lines of someone who has proven to be the greatest poet and composer of our time. "Lanternlight" is the perfect end of "Yesterwynde" - it brings me back to teenage days when Nightwish became my shelter, and it still envisions itself as a journey to new shores. I was shivering in the most positive sense when listening to it for the first time - and I couldn't imagine any other end to this new chapter of grandeur. This emotive romanticism speaks to my soul in a way I can't even clothe in words.🖤✨️🌙🕯🎶

I couldn't have said it better... I remember vividly hearing them for the first time more than twenty years ago and the way my body and soul reacted to the music. They've walked with me, everyday through life, ever since. I've loved them, I've adored them, I've been frustrated and angry and heartbroken and over the moon happy with them and they are literally woven into the path of my life and I am so grateful. I love your comment, it encompasses perfectly my experience with this amazing band. Like @martinwettig3724 said: you spoke from the heart of many life-long fans and ocean souls... beautiful, thank you. 🖤

@martinwettig3724 It means the world to read these words from you and from any other ocean soul out there - especially on a release day like this.🖤✨️🙏 Let's celebrate together, the band deserves it for all they have done throughout decades!🕯

On the bus, in the airplane, in the office, in my room, at the grocery store, city park.... All the places I cried so far while listening to this one. One of the best NW ballads ever and probably my favorite track of the album (it changes every 10 minutes though). On the side note, Floor's lower register is AMAZING

Absolutely beautiful! I was hoping for a slower ballad for Floor to perform on the album. Ah! I'm picking up the album this week, and I can't wait to crank it loud in my home system. Nightwish is one of the greatest bands to ever grace this earth, and to top it off, they have one of the best singers we'll ever hear gracing each track with limitless skill. Tuomas and company (all band members) have had a solid connection in my life since I discovered Nightwish over 25 years ago when I was heard "Dead Boy's Poem" and said. This song speaks for me in ways no other song could! They've inspired me to write my poetry more deeply and have been my escape from the monotony of life. This album, as with any from them is a gift.

What I appreciate the most in this composition is the ending - I feel most artists would have ended the song on the sad notes, but you guys let the song develop further and ended it with a more hopeful tone. Thank you for that, it was an unexpected but welcome relief at the end.

sad Tuomas dont used her voice on 100% on albums... just 25-30% i dk why... he afraid that he will sing better than his music? same thing on Sirenia

Okay Nightwish army! You'll understand this. I get so frustrated with my friends because I know they are too shallow and boring to appreciate this music, this song, this unbelievable talent. 😞😒

Don't think of your friends as boring and shallow. Just different. People look to music to fulfill different purposes in their lives. Some people, like you and I, see music as artwork, meant to move and inspire, to be filled with power snd beauty and emotion. But for other people, music is a background companion, to keep them company, or entertainment, to dance or sing along to, or a way to influence their mood to keep them happy or motivated. It's ok for music to be different things to different people, but I hear you - I wish I had friends who appreciated the same things as me to share this experience with.
