Nightwish is a foundamental part of my journey to achieve mental health. While enduring lots of mishappenings, their music is always there as a medicine to the soul. Metal is cathartic, and when it's combined with symphony and specially bagpipes and flutes, oh dear! That's a recipe for encouragement, love and also the eagerness to go and achieve the best through talent. While I myself am on a journey of unification of cosmogonic and cosmological theories, Nightwish already has helped a lot. When human consciousness is somehow remembering and reintegrating the complexities of the reality we live, it is important to have musicians who dare to speak for humanity, even as a tharepeutical tool. We are in amazing times, and all kinds of knowledge, science, art, talent and music that can help humans remember their true origins is absolutely welcome. I just hope that this new album helps me remember the beauty of the humans as visitors and inhabitants of Teth/Gaea/Earth, so I can also cherish and appreciate the fact that I was born as a human. The human experience can be daunting and stressful, but it is also full of joy, creativity and beauty. Cheers for our ancestors of all cultures and lands. Thanks!

I love eating an edible and watching westerns, just absorbing what it must have felt like for people in those times. I have never liked westerns until I turned 40. As a fan of Nightwish for 20 years I can say that this song radiates pure mystique and has one of the best choruses in the history of Nightwish, it is a song with all the essence of the Nightwish that we all love, here there are vestiges of Century Child, Human . Nature, Once, Dark passion play and Imaginaerum... what more can people ask for? They chose this song to be their diffusion cut, their ''calm'' song... imagine what that album is..Few pleasures are savored more than maturing alongside Nightwish..PD:I understand what many people say about the chorus and the volume of Floor's voice (Spotify version sounds much better), but I invite you to listen to the chorus of ''Master Passion Greed'' and you will hear the same artistic intention, where the orchestra takes center stage, and the singer alone It fits... it's not an error.

Nightwish, thank you for giving us a musical masterpiece with "Perfume of the Timeless." You are truly exceptional at what you do, and I cannot help but notice the depth and emotion you bring to every note and word. In particular, I want to highlight the genius behind the chorus. In the vocal mix, I noticed that Floor's voice may seem subtle, but to me, it was clearly intentional. The chorus seems to represent the millions of voices of our ancestors, each contributing to our presence here and now. It is the choir of our DNA, a reminder of all the loves that have preceded us and defined us. Then, Troy's clear and distinct intervention at the end of the song brings a certain wisdom, representing the journey humanity has traversed or, at least, what we aspire to achieve. "We are because of a million loves, We're the perfume of the timeless" - these lyrics are truly Epic and grand in their depth. Thank you once again for delighting us with your music and for giving us the opportunity to reflect on our place in this world and in time. You are truly remarkable and inspiring. ❤

From an old writer, and Scrooge fan who knew Carl Barks. Some amazing orchestral counterpoint writing. Kudos, Tuomas. Love all those descending strings. Free diving without fins. Could never do that. Floor jumping into The Origin of Species. Love that, too. Owl reminds me of Bubo the clockwork owl in the film "Clash of the Titans". As the writer of the book, I had a helluva time trying to reconcile that with ancient Greek tech. The mix didn't bother me, anymore than soloists singing during Mahler bothers me. To the contrary, I heard this come on as my KZbin was playing in the background and I knew right away without looking that it was Nightwish. @X22GJP I'm not saying the classical elements of a Nightwish song are not present, I too would have recognised Tuomas signature, Emmpu's mastery of tone and Floors beautiful vocals. Also, the way Tuomas gives you the melody and full band before dragging it back to the simple elements and introducing more individual elements as the song progresses. These are classic Nightwish signatures, and they'll be present in the vast majority of their works. My point is that I could not and still can't think of a previous Nightwish song that this one reminds me of. I don't hear it and think this sounds like this one. And it's an experience I've had for 21 years of listening to them. You may think this is biased if you like, but it's my opinion, and I'll stand by it. Feel free to disagree with my opinion. That's your right. But when I listen to any music, it's my opinion that means anything to me. If you don't see it that way, then that's your opinion. I will not, however, call you biased for your opinion, I do not know you, and I won't presume to understand how you feel about something. Enjoy your musical journey.

Having listened to Nightwish for around 25 years now, I can easily say that they're nowhere near done making some of the most incredible music of their careers yet. Tuomas always weaves brilliant storytelling and allegory into his lyrics and Floor does her usual phenomenal job of bringing life to those lyrics. I love Troy's beautiful soft touches at the end of the song to tie it all together quite nicely. I WILL say that this video has some of the most GORGEOUS and WTF visuals of any video I've ever seen. This video in particular does a fantastic job of showing what a deep lovely dream might look like. Musically, this is pure Nightwish; nothing more, nothing less. Yup, we're a gregarious species and that has lights and shadows. My question is: in global terms, who benefits from an evergrowing amount of misinformed people... IN A SEA OF INFORMATION, IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND AND JUST A CLICK AWAY (ironic, isn't it)? It's never an isolated phenomenon. I don't believe in casuality, but causality. So much to say about this... 1. The intro... I listen to it, over and over again, and it never loose its capacity to exciting me. If I listen to it live in some point of my life, I'm sure I'm going to cry. 2. I like the song. I think it's everything that a Nightwish fan is looking for, music, lyrics, atmosphere... I was also bothered of what they did to the Floor's voice at the chorus, the first time I listened to it, but then I realized that the lyrics says: “We're the perfume of the timeless” at that part, and it is a effect to express the idea of “we”, “many people”, in other words. It is not the first time they do it. They did it at the ending o “The greatest show on earth”, at the fourth “we were here!”. 3. It would be interesting to have a “Making off” of the video.

My mother and I listened to this song/video together. She loved it, and even if she doesn't know english she gets what the song was trying to say. Nightwish is the one band she would eagerly come to a concert if they came here.

This is a Thank You from me. Nightwish music changed me, turned me into this calm, together person. Like I received some kind of immunity to the western way of money, stress and artificial, engineered, hollow mass culture. I can't remember feeling offended or angry. I actually stopped carrying about little stuff, which partially worries me. Stil I like that person that I've become, and I'm scared of who I woud be without music. Thank you. This song has a very engaging beginning, and a very calm ending, yet in between it gets so intense and overwhelming. Like a journey, like the story it tells. I love how towards the end it turns into this simple (yet layered) melody and calms down. And the submerged sounds. The epic poem. If there is 0.001% chance You guys will read that, I'm taking that. I owe you a gigantic thank you, I appreciate your music and everyone who creates it. If you guys would take an advice from me - please never listen to advice. You are doing everything good. I hope the video is good too, I actualy spent 4 replays of the vid in the comments section writing this. 30 yo, Warsaw, Poland

Most of the song is great. My only gripe, although it’s a fairly important one, is the production; specifically the vocals… in that I can barely hear them much of the time. They drown in the music too often. One may argue that it’s because the music is so bombastic. My counter to that is Shudder Before the Beautiful. Just as bombastic and yet, the vocals are clear and it doesn’t feel like it’s trying to keep its head above water. I feel the struggle in this song.

That whole opening statement is quite thoughtful and profound, especially "you are the dream of many ancestors."
@Mordorian_Orque6 ай бұрын
the ancestors were different. Some of them were bad people, some were rapists or murderers. It's such a strange idea by Tuomas. Also, the amount of ancestors is not growing exponentially, it's absurd, there were a lot of inbreedings, also, some offsprings of one ancestor generations after could meet and give birth to the new generation. It's a scientific fact, that about 70 000 years ago, there were just 2000 ones of Homo Sapiens left.

@@Mordorian_Orque note that it doesn't specifically state your own ancestors nor human ancestors specifically and the numbers put down where a guesstimate. also doesn't state that we are a good dream. ultimately, there is innumerable & currently incalculable variables that went into our existences. just simply 1 person passing by another person on the street can be the moment that tipped the domino effect that led to your birth. one carnivorous dinosaur deciding to chase down 1 plesiadapiformes over another could have made it so humans never came into existence. just simply talking to someone will change the course of your life in ways you may never know. might just be something as small as changing the outcome of a coin flip or something as large as causing a war. in the end we are most definitely a byproduct of millions of ancestors, just not all directly related to us nor all human. we are but fleeting dreams that will influence will create more dreams and influence other dreams into becoming good dreams &/or nightmares...

I'm a month late to the party, but yet another banger and masterpiece from Nightwish in their latest song and music video 🤘🤘🤘! Everything about this is just chef's kiss-from the captivating melody, powerful lyrics, Floor's vocals that always give me chills, Troy's vocals and choir, to the stunning MV. The song beautifully pays tribute to humanity worldwide, our ancestors, our achievements, the resilience of the human spirit, and our animal friends and all life that inhabits Mother Earth. 🌍🎶 Can't wait for the new album - it's gonna be lit! I'm proud to say I've been a die-hard Nightwish fan for nearly 17 years, discovering them back in fall 2007. As a longtime metalhead with eclectic musical tastes, Nightwish has remained one of my favorite bands over the years. Time flies-I'll be celebrating my 33rd birthday in December! 🎉🎸

Interesting, the thematic journey Tuomas made over the past 25 years. Starting with fairytale, love and eros with Tarja's voice in mind, then brutally closing that chapter with Anette before writing about horror and imagination for her voice, to finally arrive at the big, definite questions and circumstances of life and existence with Floor. Thematically, the two albums with Floor as the lead singer go very well together. And apparently the coming album follows a similar direction. I can't wait to hear it all. And selfishly I have to admit that I am thankful that Floor is spending her (impressively long) vocal prime with Nightwish. I already enjoyed her a lot before Nightwish. Since her early After Forever days even. I loved how heavy she went with ReVamp. And she is a sophisticated songwriter herself. But Tuomas as a composer and Floor as a singer is a match made in heaven. An absolutely divine combination. Not to belittle or disregard the skill and effort of the other band members. But Floor and Tuomas roam on a different plain. Very few current composers or singers can keep up with the degree of skill and gift those two have. Also it is a solid statement to put a 8 minute song out as the first single. And it certainly doesn't feel like 8 minutes. I love it. It did its job as a first single very well. I immediately crave for more. The thematic and stylistic teaser it gives is very nice.
