The problem with Affleck's set was, the entire night was a reprieve from cancel culture. Everyone was dropping the jokes you're "not allowed" to say. It was devoid of "safe spaces" and "trigger warnings"... but then... Affleck gets up there and whines about "toxic" mean comments. It was the exact opposite energy of the entire night, and it didn't come off as ironic or joking, just complaining "people say mean things about me online, waaaahhh"

Plus, if they’ve given you a lot of entertainment value from their content, you root for them to “make it” it in the entertainment business. Nikki & Tony got their flowers from their performances at the Roast, and the work that got them there. Had to be an awesome life moment for her parents, as they were there to see it live, in person. A feel good story for all of them.
