I dig that new profile picture! You’ve captured some great images from that bridge… I’m glad it didn’t fall from a semi truck while you were on it😂

Thanks, Jalen! My wife made my new profile picture for me. I’m pretty happy with it. I was happy with the shots from the bridge too. I try to sneak in a little landscape photography, even on bird photography days.

I made my annual trip to Wheeler NWR this week for Cranes. My long exposure blurs were all culls, but after watching this video may go back and try again. Did get shots of a Crane with a mouse running through a crowd of 17000 other cranes that wanted to take that mouse away. A Happy 2025 to you and Miss Heather - hope to see her again soon in your videos.

Heather came with me to see the Sandhill Cranes today! Blurs are mostly culls for sure. That's funny about the crane with the mouse!

Happy New year Phil, the landscape pictures from the bridge. Phil how to photograph birds in flight, manual, aperture or shutter preference? Greetings Wim?
@PhilThachАй бұрын
@@Sywi happy new year! I usually use manual aperture manual, shutter speed, and automatic ISO and I control the exposure with the ex exposure compensation control. I tried to get as fast as I can on shutter speed without my ISO getting out of hand unless I’m trying to do blurs and then I go as slow as I can. Thanks for watching!

Looks like you are really enjoying the Z8 and the 180-600 F6.3 lens Phil. Do you find using a full frame camera any disadvantage in terms of focal length? Lovely shots 😊
@PhilThachАй бұрын
Thank you! if the full frame camera is lower resolution (24mp), like My Nikon Z6 or Canon R6 Mark II, yes. But if the camera is high resolution (45mp) like my Z8, it's not really a problem at all.

Another great outdoor photography video, Phil. I really enjoy your work. I particularly liked the bird coming in for a landing that was sharp, but the background was blurry - nice work! BTW, can you tell me what the tripod head is that you use? Thank you happy new year! 🎉
@PhilThachАй бұрын
I use a K&F Concept gimbal head. There is a link and coupon code in the description of this video.

Awesome shots! Just got z50 ii. Did you use mechanical or electronic shutter for these?
@PhilThachАй бұрын
Thank you! The Z8 only has an electronic shutter so all of these are electronic.

I'm in Arizona and apparently Sandhill cranes migrate here for the winter but I've never seen them before. A couple of days ago I was out doing some wildlife photography and a couple came up and said there's a bunch of Sandhill cranes down the road in an agricultural field. I went to check them out but they're so damn skittish I couldn't get closer than a couple of hundred yards from them before they'd see me and fly out even farther away. Never did get anything but blurry specks. 🤣😡

I am really lucky to have a location with many Sandhill Cranes around 45 minutes drive from my house!
