I'm actually surprised that he takes creatine, as for most people creatine increases waterweight in the muscles. I know that for most climbers creatine is a no-go, as the added strength doesn't outweigh the increased weight. Maybe gymnasts need more maximum strength than climbers do, so for them it might be worthwile. Do you have any experience with that Lachlan?

My thoughts based on my personal experience - I don't notice being any heavier (I haven't specifically weighed myself before/during), though I do feel stronger, so it certainly benefits me. I suppose someone should try it - they can weigh themselves before and during, and if they do get noticeably heavier and find it makes things more difficult then they could just stop taking it.

Thanks for the response man! I think I'm one of those people who respond with weight gain. I gained 1 kg within a week without changing my diet when I last took creatine and I usually have a very constant weight (+-300g maximum within a week). Maybe I should try it again at some point, just to check. Thanks again!

Creatine has a significant effect on improving sprint speed, which indicates its effect on peak contraction outweighs any increase in bodyweight, but for the most part i dont think it has a huge effect on bodyweight, mostly supplement companies trying to sell different varieties of creatine e.g cre HCL at insane prices with the claim that they don't bloat started this rumour

Personally just taking organic supplements, too much basic source nutrition still missing from nature imo, also I heard creatine carries some health risks but depends on the dosage
