One of the most honest fights I've seen in a long time. Gentlemanly in every aspect from the first blow of the whistle to the winner helping his opponent up, the loser graciously accepting the hand. Shows strength of character the two should be very proud of this match. I know I am

I came to leave a similar comment, but yours was so perfect, all I had to do is hit the like button. Good sportsmanship is becoming increasingly less common. So much so, that demonstrations of it mean more to me than an individual sport, event, or match themselves.

They each represented IL wrestling very well by fighting fiercely, but honestly and really demonstrate what high school level athletic competition is all about! Kudos to those doing the heavy lifting on the mat and to Midwest Wrestle for the long slog to North Carolina to bring this great video to us!

Very good match, those guys were really explosive and showed great mobility. A pleasure to watch, especially the move at 11:30.

Forgot to add. The sportsmanship at end is rarely seen. Again, great job. Proud to call these guys men.

I didn't know how it would go. Both were very good and about the same size really.

Kannon Webster, a talented opponent who in my opinion deserved the win, the other guy was just as good of an opponent.

Why the ref blow the whistle and separate right before the end and ask for a trainer? Was Red and Green in danger of becoming injured?
@MidwestWrestle2 жыл бұрын
The official stopped the match because he felt it was potentially dangerous that Green's leg was being hyperextended against the joint. After the official stopped the match, Red requested injury time for a different, unknown reason.

Prob a stupid question but what is the thing they strap to their ankles..anybody?
@MidwestWrestle2 жыл бұрын
Welcome to the channel, Raymond. That is not a stupid question at all. In fact, it is so common that it is one of my two FAQs below. As a side note, I recommend the following website to get a better understanding of Folkstyle wrestling: www.indeewrestling.com/folkstyle-wrestling-rules/ Please feel free to comment anytime you have a question not answered above or below: Q. What do {G} and {R} in the video title mean? A. They refer to the green and red ankle bands which the wrestlers wear, and the green and red wristbands which the referee wears, which are used for scoring purposes. Q. Who won the match? A. Those details can be found in the description for each video.

Kid in gold doesn’t like his singlet lol
@retroguy94942 жыл бұрын
If Webster played with that singlet any more, he would have ripped it or stretched it way of shape! 🤣
@jsjohnnyboy2 жыл бұрын
Looks like a nervous thing to me.
@PeterGregg Жыл бұрын
It's really the underwear UNDER the singlet that was bothering him, plus I think it's also a nervous action too. But even from when before the match started, he was fighting with those briefs. Needs to get that fixed somehow.

Do HS wrestlers sometimes suffer from long term injury, like some other sports athletes do? Like football? It seems the refs make sure they don't.
@chickenfarm092 жыл бұрын
IDK but Kannon had some extreme leg flexibility there for a sec
@retroguy94942 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely they can! The refs will stop the match if they see a wrestler in a potentially dangerous hold. But that does not mean that injuries cannot occur during legal holds which can result in long term or even permanent damage to the wrestler. However, wrestling IS one of the most safest sports.
@jsjohnnyboy2 жыл бұрын
They can. I’ve had 4 knee surgeries to my right knee and now I’m look at getting it replaced. They talked about doing it when I was 35 but the doctor asked if I’d slow down, I told him NO!

K, I don't know much about wrestling. So, the comments have me baffled how it was such a great match. I only saw like 3 times it was awesome. The rest was more of a stand off to me. The camera work and slow mo shot was awesome 👌 👏 always great quality.
@cooperchester9924 Жыл бұрын
Coming from a wrestler, you get very tired and with two great wrestlers like these you need to have the perfect chance to take a shot or else you loose, which they were both trying to set one up. No hate just answering.
