The movie might be a bit slow but you can watch it for Sanjay Leela bhansali and beautiful Gujarati Rajasthani culture. This movie has the most amazing visuals. Yes you should watch this. One of the earlier films of Sanjay as you rightly said. But not the first. Aishwarya Rai is glorious in this film with all her exuberant dancing. Acting might come off as a little over the top, especially Salman Khan's. But definitely a classic that you should not miss. And the reason why random lemons are in the song? Nimbu means lemon 🍋😀

I agree. In fact, I don't think most Indians now would sit through something like this. It doesn't help that the entire cast did a less than mediocre job of acting. They weren't believable through most of the film. It wasn't a case of lacklustre performance, rather one of being exposed for lack of talent.

This film is one of the best SLB films, with some of the best performances ever in an SLB film... I find recent SLB films like Ram-Leela much more dramatic and Deepika's performances in all of her SLB films is mediocre compared to SLB's previous heroines like Manisha Koirala, Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukherji, Madhuri Dixit... I even find Ranveer's performances in SLB movies much inferior to SLB's previous heroes like Nana Patekar, Ajay Devgan, Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan...

This was one of Sanjay Leela Bhansaali's really early films... He called Aishwarya his muse and went on to do Devdas with her. This is the film that catapulted him. Khamoshi was another BEAUTIFUL film but it wasn't as, umm breathtaking visually. That one had amazing music. It had Salman as well. This story was good but he reinvented visuals with this one. ANY Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a must watch, like any Vidya Balan film is a must watch.
