I would just hand tighten the oil filter. It won’t go any where. I torqued down a K&N oil filter with a nut on the end of it on my previous 2016 zx6r and it was a nightmare to take off. So I just hand tighten from now on and an extra turn with my hand and it’s nice and snug, also easy to take off after. Ymmv

Don't use the wrench on the new oil filter. You can damage the oil filter. That knob is used only to unscrew the filter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXLSqqGZed9_iqc

Hi i put 3.8 quart in my 2019 ninja 1000 and my level is 1\8 over the top is that normal ?

Something is not correct. Did you change the oil filter? If not that makes sense ( though the filter should be changed at every oil change. ) I’m guessing not all the oil drained out do to some reason.

@@touna911 I assume you started the bike after initially putting in the 3.8 qts of oil, let it run for a few seconds to get the oil circulating and then shut it off and let it sit before checking the level again? And that when the level is checked the bike is also level.. like sitting on a rear stand. If all that is assumed good then either the 2019 specs are different than earlier models... check your owners manual, the filter is of different size and holds less oil (again check part numbers for 2019 and lets say 2016 models) or its something for which I have no clue!

Dirty crap cold should be fine. Bike has to be level when you check the oil.

drain bolt is 17 ft lbs and oil filter is 13 ft lbs not 21lbs for oil filter

Yes. I had to recheck everything after I reviewed the video. Filter was correct at 13. Drain bolt was also at 14. Easier to do the job than do the job and explain, shoot, position cameras etc. I never knew recording would add so much extra time and tasks. 🤪

the manual states 4.1 US quarts with filter change.
