Do you cook with butter or oil especially to saute like your onions or for grilled cheese etc?
@Willyjoeshow

@@CrashOD I use both. I use Mayo for my grilled cheese instead of butter though. I have accidently ran water over the hot skillet once and it didn't bother it. The outsides of the cookware is still like new also. I do store them with the lids on the pots and a skillet separator made from felt between the skillets. Even the plastic utensils that came with the set look good.

I've never seen fried cheese stick to any pan, even iron skillets, same with caramels. They both express oil as they cook, which keeps them from sticking. Also I have never heard of pam spray staining metals ... I suppose the lecithin in there can work its ways into the pores of non-stick coatings but that's the non-stick ingredient (not oil, which most people don't know). Like other have said, this needs an update in 6 monts to a year of frequent use to see how non-stick it really is. Frankly doesn't seem non-stick, since it does stick a little bit, unlike teflon. I can only imagine that will only get worse over the next 6 months. Fry a pork chop until it caramelizes real good ... see how that does.

I have a couple of these pans and so far so good. No sticking even after searing at high heat. Other non-stick pans lost their non-stick properties after doing that. I had a T-Fal which lasted several years, but I never seared anything with it on high heat. So far the Ninja pans have retained their non-stick properties. Hope they keep on keeping on! 🤣

@@earthwormjim The Walmart/Target version is only about 25% thinner. 4.something millimeters versus 3.something. 3mm is still a decent amount thicker than a lot of other brands. A benefit of the thinner version is they're a bit lighter. The thicker "premium" is kinda heavy and it's almost like schlepping around cast iron which is annoying sometimes.

Great test. These seem impressive. I have a set of Kenmore cookware I got at Sears almost 20 years ago and still going strong. It isn’t non-stick, but one learns how to cook with what they have over time with good results. For frying, my wife always grabs the one non-stick pan we have, while I prefer the old school ones when I cook. She wants a st of these but I don’t want to give up my heavy bottom steel Kenmores.

I was inches from buying the Ninja 12" fry pan, but I ended up getting the OXO 12" fry pan a few weeks ago. It was the America's Test Kitchen's #1 pick, and NO, they didn't test the Ninja pan. The OXO was a lot less expensive than the Ninja and got great marks for its non-stickness and broad wall design. Also, the Ninja 12" pan was out of stock everywhere, so that also made me go looking elsewhere. After cooking with the OXO a few times so far, I will say it is joy to have the real estate of a a broad-sided 12" true non-stick pan, which is the largest diameter fry pan I've ever owned. I cooked up a massive amount of home fries consisting of 5 large julianed Russett potatoes, and the OXO was awesome. Everything slid right out with almost no residue. I wish I had the chance to try the Ninja, but OXO is a bigger company nationally than the Shark-owned Ninja brand which is only sold via infomercial. FWIW, I believe I made the right choice for me.
@pghcraig
@pghcraig 3 жыл бұрын
Shark/Ninja hasn't been an informercial brand in over a decade and is in literally every store in the country that sells housewares. OXO is a great brand and I've been impressed with their move form whisks and can openers to some appliances (they're conical burr grinder is actually quite good and they have a great coffee maker), but they are newer to these categories.... especially cookware, and their cookware has had some issues with warping and quality control. Thought someone should mention that because while I'm sure their pans are great, I'd be curious to hear how your pans are doing in a few months. OXO guarantees all their products for 1 year and does have great customer service.

If you don't want to replace skillets anymore I'd highly recommend a carbon steel skillet, a little pricey for a good one (about $90) but it gets better and more non stick with use and if you maintain it, will last you a literal human lifetime. Don't get me wrong, at first a non-stick pan will outcompete it, but if you keep at it, it will be just as if not more non stick than these. You do need to season it or it will rust like cast iron, and only certain ones are indiction safe, but don't let that intimidate you, it's very easy to clean and maintenance, much easier than cast iron. Just be sure to follow the care instructions like you would on any other pan.

@@nikkyrhoades2736 The exterior metal on the Target/Kohl's pans is not hard anodized aluminum and just plain aluminum. I was just looking at them before I found this nice video. The exterior of the pans will get mucked up and ugly looking faster than hard anodized (and be more prone to scratches and paint chips on the exterior only). Hard anodized will look better without chipping and be fairly scratch reistant, but still gets dark spots like any pan over time. The handles look a bit different in design as well.

It should be able to handle high heat (which is actually ultra low heat) from a stove if the coating is melted onto it at 30,000/degrees. The stove isn't anywhere close to that!

My wife told me Wal-Mart has a 10 pc set of these for $160. I thought it odd because I understood them to only come in the 13 or 15 pc sets. Maybe Wal-Mart has some kind of exclusive deal with Ninja. 🤷‍♂️ It also includes a few bonus accessories.

Another viewer John Seitz stated that the Walmart version may not be the premium version. The difference may be in the material of the base aluminum verses stainless steel. Not sure though I will need to check my local Walmart.

I got the walmart set. The material is a little thinner and the lip of the lids is thinner. But it does have the same never stick technology. The handles are hollow. Its 1/2 the price of the premium comes with 3 utensils. For my purposes... i bake more and use my foodi alot so i opted for the cheaper set to see how it goes.

You were weary? I think you mean, leery. That skillet looks great! Wonder how deep it is. Good review. Is it anodized? What is the material on these pans? Coincidentally, the infomerical just came on, looks like $170 and free ship.
@YourEverydayJoe
@YourEverydayJoe 4 жыл бұрын
C_Farther, I appreciate your comments and questions. Just to clarify, the word is "Wary", meaning to be cautious, which can get confused with weary. To answer your questions the skillet is about 2 1/2" deep, the core material is made of anodized aluminum. Teflon is a (PFOA). This Ninja set is PFOA-, PFAS-, cadmium- and lead-free. So not sure what the material actually is but if I find it I will post it here or on a future review update. I believe that the $170 set is a smaller set and according to the Ninja Foodi website only contains a 3-Quart Sauté Pan with Glass Lid, 6.5-Quart Stock Pot with Glass Lid and a Free Bonus Gift of a 10.25-Inch Fry Pan. Thanks again for the great questions.

@Brad Carr yes I noticed that too. I have had other plans in the past that did the same. Not sure if it's due to the curvature of the edges or there may be a thickness differential between the center and edges.

I purchased the complete set of this last November as a Christmas gift for my wife, so we didn't start using them until after Christmas, so about 6 months of use. They suck. The non-stick surface on one pot is bubbling and peeling off in the bottom of the pan. All the pots and pans that have lids have wear spots around the edge that has gone through the coating and shows bare silver metal. The 1st pan that started showing the silver they replaced. Now that the pot's non-stick is coming off and I called them they are refusing to replace the pot unless I pay $24.99 shipping fee for the replacement. I will NEVER buy anything Ninja again.
@YourEverydayJoe
@YourEverydayJoe 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike thanks for the info. Was your set the Neverstick original or "Premium". I have been using my set to some degree everyday and haven't seen any bubbling or peeling. Was the something specific you were cooking when you noticed it? I purchase the Premium version I would be highly upset if it started to bubble and peel. I'll update my results again in a couple of months.

@@YourEverydayJoe Hey Joe, it's the Premium $300 set that I expanded by also purchasing the larger stock pot and pan. I've been posting the above msg on most review videos but also on the Ninja advertisement youtube video. Ninja has responded saying how sorry they are and that I should call them again but when I did I got the exact same answer, they want me to pay them $20.99+tax (I was mistaken on original post) for shipping to send me a replacement. I've asked to speak to a supervisor each call and I keep being told none are available at that time and that one will call me back but they never do. They sold me a defective set but they want me to pay a crazy high shipping fee while under warranty, sleezy company.

Ok, Glogalog. I appreciate your take but need to ask, if you are influenced by other peoples likes and dislikes then how honest would your comment be? I disabled it so as to try and maintain more honest feedback without being biased one way or the other. Why is it important to you?
@Glogalog
@Glogalog 4 жыл бұрын
@@YourEverydayJoe it’s important to me because it looks like you have something to hide. If the comments don’t match the likes/dislike ratio, then the comments are full of bits and/or paid commenters. You disabling the counter has the exact opposite effect that you are saying you are trying to avoid. The whole point of a review is to influence what people think something, you removing part of that review is concerning. Your actual review, I enjoyed, but I would still like to see the likes and dislikes, as that is also part of the review
@YourEverydayJoe
@YourEverydayJoe 4 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree, a review is simply one person's point of view. As for paid comments, my channel is 90% about cooking recipes and using the products. I doubt that the best way to market my channel would be to pay people to comment.
@Glogalog
@Glogalog 4 жыл бұрын
@@YourEverydayJoe I didn’t say you had paid commenters, I said that if the likes/dislikes don’t match the comments, you COULD have paid commenters. But that is moot as you disabled likes, which is suspicious on any video. And it’s perfectly fine for you to disagree. I just wish you would show the likes as like i said, it’s part of the review, but it’s your channel, do you what you want.

These things are such a scam. You can't actually wash them or you scratch off the "non-stick surface". I'll tell you what fry a half pound of bacon in it for a couple months and I'll guarantee things are gonna stick. Hell they tell you to put something between the pans so they don't scratch each other and if they scratch then the surface will compromise. And make no mistake, they are into you for $50 a pan. Not cheap.
