Nintendogs was a silly and simple game that has a special place in my heart. 2005, I was in Iraq, and I had that game. I would play it to unwind after a mission of 12-24 hours in a Bradley fighting vehicle, sometimes even longer than that. During that year my beagle I had since I was 10 was put to sleep at the age of 16 1/2 years old. She hung in there. So playing that game after finding out she had died was especially nice.

I miss the good old days. Pokémon really smashed it out of the park in this era. The wifi battles and mystery gifts were next level.

One of my favourite titles for the DS was Trace Memory. Not many people talk about this game, or know about it when I tell them it existed. The cool thing about the game is that it uses almost every feature of the system (the only exclusion I can remember is not using the GBA port) to solve the various puzzles throughout. It even had one puzzle where you had to angle the two screens together at the right angle to reflect the images to get the solution.

Pictochat for me was such an instant attention getter for what this thing was capable of. WIRELESS communication with anyone else who had one within the entire area, and TOUCHSCREEN drawing?? That's not to even mention the bricks my brain shit as a kid watching SM64, a 3D game displayed at toys r us running on a HANDHELD... one of the best christmas presents I'd ever gotten. Ahhhh to be alive in the 2000's again

So many fond memories of booting up Pictochat in middle school on the bus, in band class, and in the cafeteria to see multiple chat rooms active with other kids chatting sharing drawings. What a unique experience that was. So grateful the Nintendo DS was a part of my childhood

I never beat it. Call me a dumbass but I didn't understand the game mechanics completely. I got to week 4 I think. When you team up with Joshua and got stuck at a point where I had to increase the popularity of some brand clothing? Gave up. I still have my copy and 3ds so maybe one day I'll return

that whole Chrono Trigger DS glitch just sounds like those situations of "overload it to kill it" which is accidentally pretty cool. i know ive seen the trope a good few times, but the only places i can recall are from DBZ's Buu saga with how Yakon was defeated and Metroid Prime's final form in Metroid Prime.

Every time I see a DS episode pop up I start hoping for some history or secrets about Metroid Prime Hunters, but that hasn't happened yet, sadly. Still appreciate these episodes though! I'm just dying to know more about the developement of my favorite DS game!

Metroid Prime Hunters was hands-down my favorite Nintendo DS game and one of my most favorite games of all time. Such an underrated DS title. It really was like a portable Nintendo version of Quake Arena or Unreal Tournament and it's online features were amazing. I made friends online in MPH that I still stay in touch with today. There's a channel called The Obsessive Gamer that has a video that actually goes into detail about the development of Metroid Prime and cut beta content!

The DS was probably my favorite handheld because I got to enjoy new games and my gba games that I had in abundance without costing my family an arm and a leg in batteries all the time. Shame that I didn’t get to explore much of what the system had to offer due to still being in school at the time. Still, I got to enjoy Pokémon, Yugioh 5ds WC, Monster Rancher and some fun puzzle games.

One of my all time favorite DS games is The World Ends With You. It utilized pretty much every feature that the DS had in unique ways. The Switch remake was alright but some of those features had to be replaced due to it not having all the same features as the DS.

The DS is such a nostalgia machine for me. I’ll never forget getting the PHAT DS in 2005 for my Communion. I got Sonic Rush and Nintendogs as my first game. What a fun time!

Nintendo handhelds are so special to me. I grew up with the GBA, only really using my DS for pokemon until years later when I branched out to other games. Now all of their handhelds hold a very special place in my heart.

Also interestingly in Mario Party DS, in Toadette’s Music Room, there are some music sheets in the stage. Those aren’t just random music notes as playing those notes on an actual piano plays a bit of Let’s Get a Move On from Mario Party 3. 😊

There also was an Integer Overflow bug with the Egg Dragon, a secret superboss from Lufia II Rise of the Sinistrals for the SNES. He had 32767HP so healing him by 50 HP via a weak healing item would set his HP to 50.

I don't know if this is coincidence but just two months and a half ago I sent my DS for repairs ( it was damaged) and I got it back good as new. Salvage anything that can be salvaged

One noteworthy thing about the Nintendo DS is that it marked the end of the 2D era, many years after it ended on the home console marked with the SNES. Granted, the DS was more a hybrid, having both many 2D and 3D games. But after the DS, 2D was definitely dead. I miss the 2D era. Nowadays 2D games with a decent budget, like Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (2014) and Metroid Dread (2021), have become very rare. Only indie developers with super small budgets still make them. That's sad, given that many genres don't work very well in 3D.

I honestly only bought Glory of Heracles because Club Nintendo had the "plan to buy" option for games and I accidentally clicked it and there was no way to remove a game from the list. So about a year or more later I saw it on sale at GameStop and picked it up. Not being much of an rpg-er, I actually was enjoying it quite a bit.
