i think dual track balls with some kind of resistance or something like that would have accomplished everything a mouse would. the thing is too heavy to one hand it and use the mousecon. Aint nobody table top Karening this thing. The ballooni by console will only be outsized by the ballooning cost. Their $80 gimmickcon for a pair of joycons and just the sillyness of requiring the dock to be vertical kept me away after i sated my curiousty for the switch and switch lite. I even liked Mario Maker better on it since you could kinda 'make levels with friends' that were over and having their suggestions and then we'd all try the level out.

Knowing Nintendo they'll only "let" you buy a slightly enhanced Switch 2 version of the game that will have a better framerate, and give you a discount if you bought the original digitally but not on cartridge.

My son has that game. It's not worth your time regardless of frame rate. It's a massive conceptual dud. Dare I even say unfinished. You'd think it's leading to something, but nope... the last dungeon and boss is the most dreadfully creatively bankrupt thing nintendo has made in a long time imo. The puzzles, even the final ones, are solved the same way the first ones are.

The backwards compatibility not being a guarantee likely applies to the Switch games that took advantage of the IR sensor on the right Joy Con of the original Switch. I imagine this also applies to the Labo and Ring Fit Adventure.

Huh, so a bigger set of trigger latches for the attachment to the screen and the two shoulder buttons might be a big bumper now. Hope the bigger size of the joycons makes that make sense as I sometimes have trouble where I am hitting both the shoulder button and trigger now when I was trying to just hit one or the other. Part of why I jumped to the pro controller if I can, even on the Switch Lite.

I'm gonna be honest, I don't like that joycon connector to the switch body. It just seems ripe for getting snagged and breaking or getting something on it and breaking. Maybe they have a way to cover it when they are not attached but it feels wrong to market a product that we all know children love with hey this Little Connector piece, don't touch. Also if their isn't a locking mechanism then god-forbid you playing, sneeze move your arms apart and your tablet just comes straight for your face.

Re: the release date and the dates of the "experience" events: It's worth noting that the Japan even is actually in April, despite being lower on the list (I think the placement was just because they went region by region), and also they did similar hands-on events for the first Switch and those actually ran until the weekend the console came out (there was a San Francisco event from March 3rd-5th, which was after the console released). Considering that with the dates they've announced, I'd guess late May early June for release? idk. I feel similarly regarding being mildly disappointed with this reveal just because it didn''t really tell us anything we didn't already know from leaks. Which isn't Nintendo's fault, per se, but I do wish we knew more than "it's a bigger switch" and "new Mario Kart". Like I hope there's more first party launch titles than just a new Mario Kart, after how big of a deal Breath of the Wild was as a launch title.

I believed in joy con mouse right away because it fixes the mario maker 2 problem of a simple level creator functionality while being able to play on the TV. And the mouse should work well enough on your lap or couch since the cheep ones I get on amazon do just fine. I believe in mario maker 3

You can take your joycon now, flip it and use it as a mouse, on your lap, as a test. Good luck getting to any of those buttons. Good luck having your hand not cramp up. Good luck getting that joycon from tipping over. It's a great idea poorly implemented. You'd NEED a mouse. And in that case, why bother making the joycon a mouse at all.

For me I don't mind it so long as it upholds to the "not every game or most games will require this." I don't want a situation like a Skyward Sword where they forced waggle controls because, and then later on put a version people would want to play with. I want the option to "be there" not required if that makes sense unless a dev makes something like a paint program that is all in on it. Hopefully my point makes sense.

The one thing I've been saying this whole time is that they need to bring back the Wii u style tablet and TV. Basically a giant 3DS. Allow you to play games with the handheld switch and use it for a map or inventory while playing the game on your TV. It would open up so many more options for games. I still feel like the Wii u was a great concept it just wasn't quite there

I think making a lot of the newer details about this new Mario Kart (24 racers, new character designs, etc.) a bit of a scavenger hunt hurt the trailer cuz it makes it harder to differentiate from MK8. They should've sat on the starting grid for like, a second, to get it to register in peoples' heads that it was a bigger/different game, even if it not that graphically impressive.

Someone in the Something Awful Switch thread pointed out that when they did the Switch hands-on tour the last event of that was March 3rd, so if they do that again June/July is probably it. Gives them that initial launch rush and time to get restocked for Christmas.
