Y'know reading these comments what's with all the hate torwards the pair-up mechanic and support system. Like I kind of get why people don't like the marriage and child system after what they did in fates but the whole support system in general? Come on guys. I really liked reading supports and I felt it allowed each character to get some more attention and get some depth. The pair up mechanic was fixed in fates and allowed for numerous strategic options imo and it made getting support conversions soo much easier. So I ask again why do people hate this system so much? They don't hate supports in previous fe titles so why this system in particular?

The support system itself is fine as it has been a staple of the series since FE6. What I don't like about the support system of the 3DS games is that everyone can support with everyone, which means the quality of support conversations takes a severe downgrade. Supports should have remained limited like in the GBA games. It means there would be less conversations to write and more time to make every conversation well written. Less is more, I say.

It's amazing really, years ago any videos relating to FE always had around 50 views and like one or two comments. It was common to see no comments at all, but now... it's changed so much. I remember how frustrated I used to get when I realized nobody knew about FE when I was a kid,but nowadays it's blown up. I'm happy for the people that finally found something they enjoyed, and for the producers that finally after years long last, those months and years of hard work didn't just go off for nothing. Awakening was not an awful game, but for Fire Emblem standards, it was one of the weaker entries. It had a lot of problems like the broken pair-up system and second seals resetting levels allowed the player to make super soldiers that took away the game's difficulty outside of the DLC. Also the game suffered a lot of cliches in the story and characters that can be lovable but are generally frowned upon. I actually loved Awakening, and still do, just not as much as I like the older Fire Emblem games, and I'm glad it sold really well because now there's a guarantee that we'll get remakes of the older games because of it, so I'm not complaining. And it definitely beats Fates Birthright in almost every way.

Just something to keep everyone in check: -There's no base waifus -This game is super short, much shorter than all FEs, but you can artificially make it longer by grinding -There's no bases (such as my castle in fates, or even the base options in awakening and other FEs) -Support convos are handled during battle, so you gotta waste a turn to have them talk to eachother for a quick exchange. -There's no weapon durability -This is a remake of a super old game, so try not to expect a masterpiece when it comes to the story. With those things in mind, enjoy it for what it is.

At 3:04 when the narrator says, "The true test begins..." I think it has a double meaning. Of course it could mean a test of your skills in Fire Emblem. However, I believe the other hidden meaning in this message is that this is a test for Fire Emblem as a series and how this "test" will affect the future games. If this game would to fail in sales, then the future games would lean towards more Awakening/Fates with more fan service and not much of a deep story. If this game were to sale pretty well, then we can expect less fan service and deeper story telling in the future games. I know I'm probably overthinking this, but I can't shake that feeling.

You'd think, but some people in the "fan"base seem not to think so. I'd rather have deeper storytelling and worldbuilding, and the pair up is fun and fine and all, but it really wasn't THAT needed. Since pair up is "Modern pillar" maybe we'll see better story and world in the Switch FE, and include pair up. Maybe it will be a sort of Legacy game, where you can play with certain tactics in mind. No one really knows what IS will do. We already had no idea Echoes/SoV was coming (which is amazing, considering Nintendo's track record of leaks). I know they can do it. Many FEs are loved for certain things, pleasing everyone is impossible, and even including options that won't mean anything to certain people will make people upset (Casual Mode = just play classic and get good, even though most people reset on death anyway, so it's just cutting down on frustration for people aren't that good at strategy [me for instance] in the first place.) I believe in IS. We'll just have to see in the coming couple years to see what Switch-FE brings us. Also something I loved about Fates especially was the Personal Skills. I want that to come back, if I have to pick one thing about that game.

From what I've seen and heard, I love how the side characters get so much more dialogue in this game compared to previous entries, and its all voice acted. I find it harder than ever to replay the older gba and console games (which I still love) due to how little the characters outside of the main party even spoke at all. Also, character endings in this game change depending on if certain characters live or die, which is a nice detail.

I know a lot of people hated Phoenix Mode but I never really felt that way. I understand why it was in fates, so kids could get into the series. It's also completely optional. When I got birthright I played through my first time on casual like I did awakening just because I can get all the story and support out of the game I could. (I payed $40 bucks for this game, I'm getting my story) My little brother on the other hand just got started on the series and played birthright on Phoenix Mode at first because he was a hella noob and was still learning how the game worked. Eventually he got good, and is now playing through conquest on casual, refusing to touch classic mode because he doesn't "want to screw up and get my favorite characters killed".

So as for the tactical effects mentioned in this video: certain weapon types are extra effective vs certain classes. That's a FE classic, just like in my fav RD. That's the only reason Haar didn't appear anywhere else, he's too powerful without his kryptonyte of thunder magic. Archers will counter even in close range combat and can even attack 4 spaces away? Holy cow that's a massive buff. And here I thought archers were OP in RD... If there is a Double Bow in this game, heads will roll like dice in a casino. Mages can lose health for casting all magic or just certain spells? That's a bit unclear to me right now. Good thing anima magic is a thing again. I missed the magic weapon triangle. Other than that, HYYYYPPPPEE!!

Archer have suck stats for balance their range. Their are good to weaken enemy not kill. All the magic except one(from I saw from a gaiden let's play) cost hp.

Digitalatom6 Archers have a 1-3 hit range, but they have terrible accuracy. XD At least in the original. If your Archer has an equipped bow, his range is 1-5. Magic costs HP and if your HP are too low, you won't be able to use a spell. Healing other units costs HP too, but you can refill them by using an item or using the Nosferatu spell. It costs no HP, but it has only a 50% hit rate. Cleric's can only get Exp by attacking or killing enemies with Nosferatu, healing gives no Exp at all, which is very weird at first, but you'll get used to it quickly. When your magic users reach certain levels they learn new and more powerful spells.

This does look to be very promising for me. I have never tried classic mode at all because I do have a strong connection to those I have bonded with. Sure, Casual mode isn't what made Fire Emblem great, but it helps staples the franchise, open to newcomers. If any of those that missed out on Awakening or Fates, either wait for this game, or start off easily on Fire Emblem Heroes on mobile, and slowly learn how the game works before getting Echoes. Though Gaiden, now Echoes, did well to withstand the test of time, Also, I do hate most Fire Emblem Elitists that believes the game should only used classic mode, and have their units died in battle. Sure, it is meant to be real time strategy game, but even in a real war, there are those will lived to fight another day. It's not about how the game should be set to Casual or Classic, it's about leading our armies to victory, and progressing with the story. Yes, we also begin the tales of Fire Emblem, thanks to the localization of Blazing Blade, prequel to Binding Blade with our boy, Roy, but I do believe this is the Golden Age of Fire Emblem with a new iteration on the Switch, a remake for 3DS, Fire Emblem Warriors for both consoles, and later on in the future, a possible chance of Mystery of the Emblem, Genealogy of the Holy War, and Binding Blade remakes. Here's to a good standing for Fire Emblem, the Final Fantasy of Nintendo.

I wouldnt suggest Heroes as one start since it dont teach any of the basics, everything there work different, magic, weakness, movement, attack range, no dodge, no crit, etc...if you want someone to learn FE ask them to play the GBA ones or Awakening.

I played Classic on Fates after finding out that not even Corrin's death gave you a Game Over (unlike Awakening, which gives you a Game Over if Chrom or the Avatar die). So Casual in Fates has no challenge, IMO, since you need to lose your entire army to get a Game Over

Just to clarify: when they say "Paired units have no place in Valentia", they mean the pair up mechanic is gone. It doesn't mean that support conversations are also gonna be omitted. Support converations have been a thing since FE6 and I think IS has learned from their mistake that was omitting them from FE11.

I don't think you need to worry about it! But if you want a game to start i recommend FE7 (Blazing Sword) or FE8 (The sacred stones) their gameplays are pretty similar to Echoes! Both games are for gameboy, So you can easily play them in a Emulator. Also, FE7 is available in the WiiU eshop. There are the newer games (awakening and Fates ) but their gameplay is a bit different. Hope that i helped!

To the people who complain about casual mode, if they removed casual mode that will probably effect there sales in a negative way. Most people didn't get into the old fire emblem games because they where scared of perma death. SO here a little tale. There once was a Great War, in this Great War there on the brink of death was the King FE. With his body exhausted and sword fallen he knew that it was over. As the enemy prepared in striking the final killing blow, the King felt a sense of rejuvenation. He looked up and there stood the god, Awakening. To this day the King still doesn;t understand why the God intervened in the Great War, but he does know without him, he wouldn't be alive today.
