To everyone in the comments, yes depression is a multilevel mental health disorder that can be caused by a variety of things. They are simply saying that a reason that some MAY feel depressed is because of their poor gut health. They said poor gut health "can" lead to depression not poor gut health causes depression. Theres a difference 🤷🏾♀️

Also, to call Ayurveda a pseudoscience is to completely ignore thousands of years of human eating habits and put all your faith into western medicine. Ayurveda is a preventative science to help prevent the need for drugs to begin with. Given, this won't protect you from things that are genetic or inevitable but it helps. If someone wants to better themselves and their health leave them alone. Nothing is wrong with promoting a healthy lifestyle.

For everyone whose saying these videos are irresponsible and dangerous - just take a chill pill! Just because you’re a medical student now gives you the right to suddenly discredit other methods of healing? How many times have people not been able to heal their illnesses the conventional way, and have turned to alternative healing methods like this, and have actually cured themselves? And for that matter, how many times have we heard of people changing their diets and actually reversing disease! Just because you don’t believe in it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t work! I can think of many so call ‘scientifically proven’ things that have not worked for me in the past. Everyday studies are proving that something or some type of food is good for you, and then the next day, studies suddenly proves that that same thing that was good for you, is now suddenly bad for you! At the end of the day, who cares what’s scientifically proven and what’s not, if it works for you and helps you, then go for it!

I think this is more about when in Rome? I agree with other comments this is not the place to share ? This belittles depression. Yes we are what we eat but your liver is designed to detoxify. The body is an amazing thing. You need to live a stress free life eat natural food chew it properly etc etc ,not food stuff flown from all around the world to be plant based......please remember the saying A little knowledge is dangerous!
@deeqam.90234 жыл бұрын
Its very difficult to get stuff that's not flown from around the world for any diet. A large portion of American meat comes from Brazil, produce from latin and South America, fruits from Asia etc. If you aren't eating solely local you are most likely getting a diet that comes from around the world. You can be purely plant based out of your backyard and that's the beauty of it.

Love the series and learning a lot but please, stop talking about detox like that. There's no need and no way to detox - that's what your liver does all the time anyway. Just don't eat stuff that's bad for you or drink so your liver can actually focus on its job. That also goes for food combining. Slow digesting foods can be eating with fast digesting foods. The gut knows what to do! Please don't spread information that is not scientifically inaccurate. But apart from this, learning about doshas and doing what's best for my type is soooooo interesting!! Thanks for sharing all this with us :)

I think it’s always good to be open minded. Western medicine is really important and you wouldn’t be able to solve a lot without it, but the U.K (and probably a lot of other countries) have a big issue with their diets. My mums a nurse and the amount of people with diabetes has massively increased and is one of the main causes for indirect deaths (cancers, heart attack, strokes). If people were more mindful about their diet then it would drastically help a lot of health problems. It’s not just going to magically fix everything, but it’s a really important aspect of a humans health. I think it’s fab that they are talking about it 😁
@emilymorgan57694 жыл бұрын
@@abbieowen565 Totally agree. Its very important to listen to all sides and be open minded. No arguments about an improper diet leading to preventable diseases either. I think the concern here is saying that people who are depressed or anxious just have gut problems. There are a myriad of contributing factors to mental health disorders. Anyways, many thanks to your mum for her work as a nurse in these troubled times!

I got diagnosed with complex PTSD due to childhood experiences. I feel like my experience has gone the opposite way to what is said in the video. My CPTSD causes problems with my digestion but then those symptoms feed back and make all my CPTSD symptoms worse. It's so hard and definitely not something that a 26 minute video could ever cover properly so I don't blame Niomi or Dimple but it can be hard to hear an illness reduced so greatly. I'm going to try the recommendations in the video in the hope it'll alleviate some symptoms but I don't believe it's a cure. I wish you all the best for recovery.
