I also was at this gig. I was about four bodies from the front in front of Kurt. Haven't spotted my blond mop of hair yet. Never before or since been so battered by a gig. So Happy to take a trip down Amnesia Avenue. To whoever did this, Thank You!! Shonen Knife supported, did a boss cover of 'Suzy is a Headbanger' by The Ramones.

@@malloid Pretty sure L7 supported Sonic Youth on the Dirty Tour (93). Deffo saw L7 at the Hummingbird, just not this gig. Supports at this gig were Eugenius and Shonen Knife. We had to wait for Nirvana as they had recorded the Top of the Pops "Teen Spirit" that evening in London and then raced to Brum to play the show. Not doubting you were there, just the punch in the face was at a different gig, Peace Dude!

I was there with my mate Aid i had just turned 21 & the support bands were Captain America,Shonen Knife i can remember everyone sitting down waiting for Nirvana.Turned out later that had been recording for Top of the pops the one where Kurt does his best Morrisey impersonation..lol ...I do remember dancing pissed to On a plane...what a song...what a night...great times

@@mattgale1659 I must have missed that. When I got there everyone was waiting to get in. Remember kurt threw his beer into the crowd andxacpint if lager came right back at him. He wiped his guitar down with his sleeve "You soiled me.." he said lol! Them the false count 1 2 3.. 123 then the band played jesus don't want me for a sun beam. I'm sure they played something I the way too towards the end and it sounded fuckin amazing when they play the heavy version. Was a cool gig for sure. Good memories

Yeah was a proper gig, i was barely 16, ĺate train back to Brum after gig then the rail replacement bus to Bournville then a 15 min walk to my mums with the November wind howling over my sweat drenched clothes... Didn't go the Hummingbird gig...

Why do people think someone is automatically lying? There are thousands of us who saw Nirvana live because we grew up during that time period. I was 18 in 1992 when I saw them live at Reading...still one of the greatest experiences of my life! Today’s generation will one day be looking at the concerts they attended on whatever platform will exist twenty years from now and also reminisce. Will they be lying too?

I was at this gig but it was nowhere near the energy levels of the Wolverhampton Wulfrun gig the same year or Birmingham Goldwyns in 1990. They’d filmed TOTP the same day and I think Kurt was poorly. I feel so blessed to have seen Nirvana live 4 times. It’s weird when my son plays Nirvana covers in his band though… I feel so old.

Its bittersweet really, I was a club DJ at the time and wasn't a fan. I was at the gig as a guest but in '97 after a ruff time I started listening to the band. Now of course Nirvana has a big place in my heart and I see them as true genius. Just wish I was a fan when I saw them x
