I've always loved "I wish I was like you, easily-amused." I know it's probably more to do with his darkness, but it sounds like a fun way to call someone simple-minded.

The opposite is actually true. There’s an association between boredom and intelligence, according to several studies. However, the common belief that it equals lack of creativity or capacity for recreation is a mistake. In any case, higher intellectual abilities are definitely indicative of less boredom.

A lot of people hate on Nirvana and Kurt’s talent. They can’t reconcile how good he was doing very little. The music is uncomplicated, but undeniably very good. People would sell their souls for their rapid and atmospheric success. Nirvana didn’t just change music, it changed style. Women in the 90’s gave up spandex and big teased hair for low rise skater jeans, tanks and flannels, and flat combed hair

Honestly, it's a lot harder to do something relatively simple that's so memorable...the Ramones were masters of that. If you have a construction crew and a lot of expensive equipment on one hand, and one guy with a hammer and some nails on the other, and the guy with the hammer still builds you a house, it's a great deal more impressive.

For someone labeled "the spokesperson of a generation" to have his head down and say "What else should I write? I don't have the right..." just breaks my heart. He was a beautiful person and I'm so happy he gave his music to the world. I feel the same way as you when listening though. Sometimes I can't bear it because it's so heavy, but then life comes along and I'm drawn right back... It's his empathy and sincerity that make the music cathartic, and not just entertainment. Thank you for your reaction; your honesty and emotion mirrored his beautifully.

"It might be nice to start playing acoustic guitars and be thought of as a singer and a songwriter, rather than a 'grunge rocker' you know? Because then I might be able to take advantage of that when I'm older, and sit down on a chair and play acoustic guitar like Johnny Cash and it won't be a big joke.” -Kurt Cobain Summer 1993 Well, you did, and we loved it. Kurt and me are the same age, I was so proud someone from my age group became literally big as the Beatles. Nirvana has sold 75 million records to date. If you noticed Kurt tune the E string back up, it’s because this song was written in Drop D tuning. When you see the price of concert tickets today, I’ll let you in that it costed $17 a ticket to see Nirvana live in 1993.

Dave Grohl said it himself, the song seemed hopeful at the time when In Utero came out and only after his death did people start "connecting the dots" and trying to find clues everywhere. William S. Burroughs said that upon hearing about Kurt's death, he bought the album and looked through the lyrics but all he found was the same energy he felt when they met at his house. He didn't feel like Kurt was saying goodbye, it was just his style of writing or whatever.

I think someone either with the MTV team or his nirvana crew said that Kurt was adamant that he didn’t think he did well and that it was an overall poor performance, despite the whole world feeling otherwise. He was trying to kick heroin and was struggling with withdrawals as well as a bunch of stress/nervousness at the time. I also read somewhere rehearsals for this performance were less than stellar so I think him barely looking up probably had a lot to do with him trying to lock in and be perfect, as well as maybe being embarrassed it wasn’t that good (in his mind)

There's a thing that happens here that is now lost to music. Out of 6 instruments, 3 are out of tune (in the modern way of looking at this). The 3 in-tune are the drums, cello and Pat's acoustic. The bass, Kurt's guitar and Kurt's voice would not be allowed on a modern recording as they would be corrected to make them "in perfect pitch". You could do that but you would completely ruin the performance and the song that it is. The out of tune drone in the background of the song is what gives it such an impact and a platform for the lyrics. It is so rare for modern bands (and I mean really, really rare) to be allowed to put a part in that is not in perfect tune that the beautiful effect of recordings like this are possibly lost forever. The "music industry" discovered autotune and at that point, they destroyed music.
