Tamura San's interview is such a refreshing look into the thought process of this car. I think being able to see the intention of design from the designers and engineers itself really helps cut through the repetitive stat chasing mentality and shine a light on the personality that the car was given. I'm about as far from a Nissan fan as it gets but the respect I have for the GTR and the team behind it is incalculable. Fantastic work as always, Mark and Jack.

I’m with you on all points. The GT-R is such an outlier from a manufacturer of stupefyingly boring cars, and it got that way because the engineers were put in charge of its development. Likewise, when it came to presenting the car to the automotive press, Nissan wisely kept their marketing minions muzzled and once again, let the engineers do the talking. Mark and Jack took the cue at the end and let the CAR do the talking.

Take a couple of Dramamine and watch an episode of Schmee and one of Supercar Blondie, and you’ll understand the mentality of the most popular car channels: They are designed to appeal to morons. Going by the comments, their audiences seem to be adolescent males who, thankfully, do not yet have a driver’s license. And there are a LOT of this viewer type. KZbin is owned by Google, and to this vastly wealthy tech giant, the only thing that matters is numbers. Big audiences for KZbin channels mean more eyes on Google-powered screens, and more ad revenue. (I pay $15/month for KZbin Premium and could not imagine sitting through ads.) Mark and Jack talk far too much and most of what they say would go right over the head of your typical car channel viewer. As is happening to the best communicators, whether they be writers or film makers or KZbin presenters, the race to the bottom by sleazy and transparently phony competitors is making the professionals’ comparatively small audiences less appealing to Google, the publisher. And so like all us motorheads, the Geese are in danger of extinction. I fear that KZbin’s dim future for quality content will cause our two favorite presenters to turn their considerable talents away from our shared passion. When and if that comes to pass, I won’t need a KZbin Premium account any more. I will not invest my precious time watching Doug Demuro. Instead you’ll find me in my BarcaLounger, reading 20-year-old back issues of Car and Driver.

The end of this video gave me chills. "What does GTR mean to you?" "It's my life's work". Such a well done production gentlemen.

Masterful video production, Mark & Jack. Your cinematography & editing skills are beyond mere beautiful, but an integral part of your passion & reverence for the product storytelling. I, as well as most of your viewers, could listen & watch this videos beyond this 37 minutes presentation. I certainly hope that you guys will have an opportunity to drive the f*@k out of this beast again on an ideal day at a demanding location (track!). Thanks for a sumptuous teaser. ✌🏼& 🏎

Everything you guys do is awesome. BUt placing the question with the gentleman at the end who responded, "It's my life's work." was honestly profound. That is why what you two do is an honor and a privilege....you get to tell the story about some of the most meaningful products and you help these stories have a life outside of the studios and boardrooms and live at least on film. I really appreciate the work you two put into everything and thank you for it.

THIS is the effort from Nissan I love seeing. I’m so excited to see what you guys have to say about the new Z, when you get your hands on one. I love the way it looks, and am infinitely curious about the quality, and driving experience. Awesome video, as always.

Yep home grown twin turbo six cylinder with a manual transmission for $45k fully loaded. It's the old Z32 all over again, even the price is similar to the 1996 model before correcting for inflation! I really hope Nissan sends out the fully loaded manual models as the press fleet.

I'll go ahead and say this is peak Geese. This is the best video they've ever done. The GT-R gets so much undue hatred, just because it was the most wanted car of a generation. I can't imagine people watching this video and not wanting to sell body parts to get one of these all-time classics.

savagegeese surely did their home work and was spot on re inflation. Looking back at a base GTR costing $81,900 CAD (2009), that's $107,713.96 CAD today (2022). Many car reviewers always complain that the GTR is too expensive but fail to consider the effect of inflation. Well done savagegeese. edit: subscribed 👍

I keep saying this, how do these guys not have a million subscribers for this level of insight and video quality. There are idiots with a camera going to car dealership to film the spec sheets with ihphones with zero knowledge about cars and no charisma that have a million subscribers...

SG - so well done. I'm shocked that your videos are not playing in the headquarters or showrooms of these vehicles. You may not make much on these, but these are why I come every time you drop a video and buy the merch and support in any way I can. Keep it up!

I would subscribe, but I've already been subscribed for a LOOOONNNG time since back in the BRZ days, and yes, you are still one of the most under-rewarded automotive channels on KZbin in my opinion. Someone needs to throw some money at you for sure, because the quality, entertainment, and educational nature of your videos is phenomenal and only keeps improving. Thanks for continuing to do it, and I hope that the hard work you guys have put in over the years is eventually rewarded x10.

Thank you, gentlemen for the wonderful channel, and excellent video. I’ve since moved to a BEV, but the kid in me will always have a soft spot for the GT-R, and if I could afford one, I’d have one in a heartbeat. Also, I echo your sentiments; what these guys do on this channel for what they ask of us: a mere subscription, is monumental. Thanks, again!

Amazing work you guys. This car’s biggest critics will talk about how it feels too simulated or not analog enough, but in this day and age, this car feels more alive than a lot of modern sports cars (Audi and BMW I’m looking at you). Let’s not forget, it took Porsche until the release of the 991 Turbo (a 200k sports car) to beat the GTR’s performance. I don’t even know what else to say, I love the GTR and all it’s generations and this video made me even more crazy about it. Thank you for making this.

It's been a real rough month for me, but that ending clip with Tamura-san really got me. I loved the level of detail, history, and passion this video (shout out to your LFA masterpiece about an absolute masterpiece) has. I'm not huge R35 GT-R fanboy, but wow. It's just a car, they say. For many of us, it really is so much more. Stupid machines making me tear up.
