It’s funny, two Jatco CVT’s and well over 100k with no issues. Transmission service is one of the more expensive services thus lots of people skip it unfortunately. That is the real issue. That is why I never by used. If you buy used, you have an overwhelming chance that you are getting an improperly maintained vehicle.

That's why!!! Also proof, the massive volume of customers with same CVT complaints does not relate to skipped transmission service on all of the vehicles...right??? Also, most mechanics don't even want to try fix these complex cvt transmissions and only offer to replace them which is an easy way out to resolve the issue quickly but at a high cost to the customer. I personally don’t want Nissan to die since they brought the crazy to Japanese racing since they were dominant. The only issue now is they have dug their grave with companies like Renault who are notorious for terrible quality and Nissan is still suffering from terrible French engineering such as the CVT. If Nissan is to survive they need to match Honda and Toyota’s hybrids and they meed to go back to making their engines reliable and stop making sports cars right now since they don’t have the funds nor do they the competitive price and product since the Z lost to the Supra and other sports cars. The reason the Miata is still selling is the design and how it is priced. It is very reliable something Nissan forgot. If Nissan gets its act together with making more reliable and priced cars people will buy them along with the hybrid power train which Toyota and Honda are making profits. Mazda is killing the market with its designs and sticking to making their cars reliable and adapting to the market which Nissan has, but in the wrong direction. Nissan has one last shot by working with Honda and if they don’t take it they are done and they need to stop thinking of EV vehicles.

Consolidate the name brand back to Datsun for both Infiniti and Nissan and close all Nissan dealerships and leave Infiniti dealerships as Datsun. Everybody gets a more upscale experience. All new Datsun’s should come with five years of free oil changes and basic service to get people in. Make more hybrids and stop making ugly cars.

We already knew that Nissan is struggling, but I didn't know it was this bad. I was in Bergenfield New Jersey last year for Thanksgiving, and saw the Nissan/Infiniti dealership I first saw back in 2019 closed down. Maybe that should've been my glaring indicator that Nissan's situation is way worst than I thought. I assumed that they were barely keeping up float since they did release new products that sell like the new Pathfinder, Rogue, and QX60 that drive sales that they desperately needed. I guess that wasn't enough. Maybe this is because of the almost 2 decades of subprime dealership car loans and decline in quality has put both brands in a market position to where Hyundai and Kia were in the 90's. Overall public perception of Nissan and Infiniti has plenty of negative stereotypes that damaged their brand like Big Altima Energy; and how the public views the two brand and its drivers unfavorably as it conjures up stereotypes like subprime loan, low credit score, and reckless driving.

Nissian needs a new design team. Seems like the body styles are the same every year, the Titan has the ugliest front end of any truck and the Rouge hasn't changed much except the front end is a little different and the pathfinder looks like a cracker box . Come on Nissian make something more sporty looking and build a Truck more like a Ram or Tundra and offer a 10 year 10 thousand mile warranty like Kia and Hyundai . EVs are not going nowhere, and no one wants to buy a used EV and the Insurance on Evs are through the roof. You can do it Nissian.

Nissan can partner with Toyota to make decent CVT transmissions or get rid of them. I've heard that most Nissan comercial engines are really good... But those transmissions made in china have been a living hell. Jatco Transmissions are still part of Nissan, can't jacto invest with Honda or Toyota to make a decent CVT for the small and midsize commercial vehicles? There are still great Nissan vehicles like the US Frontier using a V6 realiable engine instead of a I4 2 liter engine like Toyota is doing to "reduce emission standards" Nissan offer another Frontier version for Latin America and Europe which is a the NP300 and that vehicle is equally as reliable as the Toyota Hilux and is more secure by ncap standards. Nissan needs to merge with quality and maintain its current pricing with thier models, they need to aquire quality and sell it like quality, they don't need to cheap selling their cars like they did in the 90s, I bet they can sell quality and gain competition once more in order to continue business. Nissan has legendary vehicles that they still make up to date like the GTR for example, I mean its a super car handmade from the best Craftsmens in Nissan... Its a handmade super car starting from the engine and finishing from the interior, its basically a realiable Japanese Ferrari

Feels like total mismanagement. I believe it was early this year when you showed the CEO saying that the high margin Armada and Murano's would save the year. Both were supposed to be out before 4Q. Then they seemed to drag out the process on both so that only the Armada will see a lot this year and so very late in the year. They needed to stay on schedule. It's indicative of all their problems - too slow to move.
@AlexanderY18Ай бұрын
Turns out people care about liability. I think people used to buy them because they were cheaper then the competition, ignoring the reliability issues. But Hyundai kia etc took over that market by providing much more fun features and designs. That's my anecdotal point of view, i may be wrong though because I'm not really an expert on these topics.
@toshitanaka1550Ай бұрын
Nissan basically followed the French which is cheap cars, unreliable, and horrendous engineering. Nissan basically killed itself by ruining their brand with unreliability and killing off some of their best cars. Nissan also didn’t follow suit in hybrids and took the extreme route with full EVs. Car companies that did that got punished like Hyundai, Kia, Tesla, GM, Ford, etc. The big problem with Nissan is they haven’t provided very many design refreshes and power trains to accommodate to buyers. They had competitive crossovers, but they have no hybrids. If they followed Toyota and Honda’s hybrid they would’ve had sales and if they followed Mazda’s design philosophy it would’ve been better for Nissan.

@@JohnZornAscended You're really on that copium if you think that is the case. I used to work on the JF011E which prominently came in the 4th gen Altimas and a beefed up variant in the 6th/7th gen Maximas. 5th gen Altimas also exhibited issues with overheating especially when it came to higher ambient temperatures. Symptoms of the JF011E CVT was transmission pump whine the hotter and hotter the unit got. The primary source of the problem with these transmissions were solenoids going out alongside the weak heat exchanger Nissan puts on them. I can go on and on about their transmissions. From 5R05 (which was mechanically decent but had valve body issues, solenoid failure, PCB cracks on the TCM) to the JF020E.

Matters of work and recreation compel me to replace the Juke with a newer, larger SUV…but I have to admit it’s a bit hard to motivate myself to do. The thing’s been fun, versatile, and reliable. The G37’s even harder to fault. Ergonomically far more tolerable than its many European competitors at the time, and it’s completely insane how well it’s aged. I've noticed that when it comes to Nissan here in CA I do see Sentra more than Altima in the streets. I know that Altema will be discontinued but anyway they have no chance to survive with their CVT and the lack of hybrid power train. So they should focus on getting rid of their conventional CVT and develop something similar to Toyota's eCVT and they should offer some hybrid for Sentra. and if they price it well then they will catch up with the rest. Their cars are nice looking but unfortunately reliability due to CVT and lack of hybrid made it hard for them to survive.

They need to reorganize and quit their high end cars/suvs that don't sell due to reputation issues, that were earned. How do they not have a Maverick competitor ? They could use existing SUV platforms and a hybrid setup. Nissan has shown they can make a reliable cheap car, Sentra and Versa recently, not the previous CVT nightmares. They have too many SUV models, narrow them to 3 and do them well. Small reasonable cost trucks and a cheaper midsize truck would save them. Just like Hyundai , how do they not have a hybrid Santa Cruz ?
