Nissan TB48 turbo Torque Monster

Dyno tuning a Nissan Patrol TB48 4.8L six. The engine is now rebuilt with forged pistons and rods and features a custom JPC turbo at 10psi boost and MoTeC EFI. Not built for outright power, but instead good throttle response and reliability the engine will be going into an off-road dirt truck. Initially making close to 600Ib.ft at just 3000rpm, torque was backed off for the truck's first shake down runs. A final figure of 559hp was achieved, not bad for a low boost application.

No the bolt pattern is different but you will not find a stronger factory box than a late gu patrol 5 speed. I've put over 1000nm through my box and everything holds up fine. Also plenty of people who can beef up the patrol auto to suit

Under the extractor? There is oil feed and drain and water in/out on the turbo.

That is a PSR wastegate you may be looking at? There is no B.O.V fitted to this engine.

Those numbers good...and really expected. 98 Octane, turbo, stright 6 makes great low end torque. I like it. What does it do on Pump Gas...???

98 is pump fuel here in Australia, its like American 92/93, Pretty sure ours is RON and American is MON

Can I use the TB48 block with a RB26 head I happen to have one in my garage but I'm in search of a strong block for torque and strength this motor will be put through hell since it's going into my drift car a Nissan 180SX also I plan to have this motor rev up to 10K RPM's any suggestions would be great

+Hateif Youwant I had one shipped to me via Australia. It was snagged in customs. Told the block was not EPA cert in USA i have to send it back! I had a friend hat was going to build a billet block for me off the OEM dimentions. I would sell them @ 5500.00 usd which is alot les than billet 2JZ, EVO etc etc. The billet version in UAE is selling for $20,000.00 !!!!!!!!

Tsjernobylol just a heads up nm stands for newton meters not newton/square meter, that's the same for pound per foot not pound per square foot. your confusing leverage with pressure. its hanging 600lbs at the end of a one foot lever, not 600lbs sitting on a square foot. either way its a nice amount of torque

Displacement. And it revs pretty damn good for such a high displacement, too. It's starting to make me think V8's aren't the only engines capable of reliable high revs on high displacement and stroke figures.

You could have designed a better flowing exhaust manifold ... That tubular crap is not efficient at all. Loosing power there.
