@@powpowouchy5 Technically, anthro mascots with attitude all kind of descend from the old-school toons like Bugs Bunny (Sonic himself is literally a fusion of Felix the Cat and Mickey Mouse papered over with a mohawk of back spines to cover up the seams), but whether an anthro mascot's inspired by Sonic (or the Ninja Turtles who predated Sonic, for that matter) or not, they get called copycats simply for having the misfortune of walking into an oversaturated market.

Hey, so I happen to know a bit about the story behind the game, long story short, the studio that created Zapper was, in the first place, working on a Frogger sequel, yet for some licensing issues during the development of the game , the project was aborted. The studio had by that time completed a significant part of the game, so rather that deleting everything and losing a lot of cash they ended up re-working some features and mechanics of the game but just enough so they don't get sued or anything and this is where Zapper originated from, and that's why Zapper appears so similar to Frogger, simply cause it was intended to be a Frogger game in the first place. If you're a fan of the game and you're reading this, feel free to hit me up, I'd be glad to share some infos about the game ! Love Nitro Rad for reviewing this game

I actually like this game, at least more than Nitro seems to. Don't get me wrong, this game is brutally difficult especially in the bonus stages. I think you had to beat them all to get unlimited ultra zaps, which make the game way easier. That, or just put in a cheat code. Despite this, I kept coming back to it for the huge array of ideas in it. It was so diverse in enemies and places to be.

Oh man I remember seeing the ads for the GBA version in Nintendo Power all the time. They all featured Zapper with a needle in his hands (?) superimposed in front of a photo of a frog mid-croak as though he was about to puncture the poor thing's throat. The tagline there was also "One Wicked Cricket," so I think you were on the money when you celled hi a terrible insect. On an unrelated note, glad to see another retro game review. I personally enjoy these videos more than your other ones, as I'm not much for most horror games (save for something like Deadly Premonition, which I highly recommend, by the way). (disclaimer: i am EXTREMELY biased about the game, i've been speedruning it for a while now) Hello, nice review :) I'd like to discuss some points you made in the video. You said this game is a Frogger clone. While this is mostly true, and Blitz actually had the licence for Frogger at that point which leads me to believe this was intended to be a sequel, it has a key element that you could have stressed out a bit more: you can be offensive. That may not seem to be much, but it makes a whole world of difference between just avoiding things and having the choice to go around an obstacle or destroy it. You said hovering was unnecessary and a waste of programming. This i disagree with for one reason: it's situational. Sometimes you jump into a moving enemy by accident, and this feature can save you. There is actually a small window where you can release the jump and press it again and it won't stop hovering. I think it's pretty nice to have as an emergency. At 3:35 you point out the "unnatainable" tile. While i'll agree level design is bad on some areas, there is a secret a little bit earlier in the level that allows you to get inside the wagon, and get out from this tile. You aren't supposed to be able to get to it from above, that would defeat the purpose of the secret. (It's still bad level design yeah) You didn't talk about the secret world levels! And worse than that, you go on about how pipewerx is the only one where the gameplay is different. I guess it takes a while to finish the game 100%, but just the first one of these is very different from the usual gameplay. That's all i could gather. Sorry if the formatting sucks, youtube comments are bad anyways :)

Then I saw it was from the same developers, and I knew I had to try it out! I actually really like this one, and DANG, the music is awesome! And of course, the ending had me in hysterics! Oddly enough, you never even pointed out the extra stages. There's an extra stage that plays things differently for each world you get 100% completion of. And as for your questioning as to why Maggie is leaving eggs everywhere, it's because she's trying to bring about offspring en mass in order to raise an army to take over the world, so she's planting her forces everywhere. I know, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but that's the plot. I think it was brought up in the manual.

In fact you miss two things which make this game better: 1) the fly animation makes sense, because you can change direction while flying,so you don't have to do two tiles at jump: 2) If you find every sphere in the world (100 in every level of the world),you can do a bonus level. Not the bonus level at the end of the level, but a ENTIRE NEW LEVEL with a different gameplay! After beating it,you can get a cheat. If you beat the last bonus level (again, not by finding every sphere in a level, but every sphere in every level in the world),you can get the infinite super zap! So there is more than that :D

I remember playing it at a friend's house on the Xbox. I recall there being lasers, giant buzz saws, a train with a face, a mobile cactus, and needing to collect eggs. It's one of those egg collections that stick in my mind, particularly well. It was an underwater level in a pipe. It just seemed to go on and on, and I knew we were supposed to be collecting something, but I wasn't seeing it. But I was seeing a little guy with fins and a snorkel. I wasn't in control at the moment, so I pointed them out to my friends, the remarked that it would kill them, I said try it, and that's how we learned the eggs were wearing SCUBA gear. Edit: oh, it was just a massive eye on the trian, not an entire face.
