I am saddened by the number of negative comments claiming 53 HP increase was a waste of time and money. It really highlights the lack of basic understanding of SCs and the build then adjust approach to Hot Rodding. For folks who aren't famaliar with Superchargers (and aren't puking out your negative opinions) the combo gets more boost with a simple pulley change. More blower speed equals more boost equals more HP. 53 HP was with 4 psi boost. There will be a follow up episode with more power. Have to build it before you can tweak it.

I would suspect that it wouldn't make much difference in peak numbers or anything but, I wonder if the longer runners under the blower and the added plenum volume in that throttle body elbow would make a noticable difference in throttle response and part throttle tq. I can't imagine that it could hurt. I am a little curious how the injector spray pattern would work with the injectors shooting into straight into the runners rather than being angled down the port. I have seen where Kasse had good results angling the injectors up the in the ports on a test. Looks like you did some great work as usual and I am definitely here to see it.

Calvin, I know this is an offshoot request, but I've always wanted to run this sort of combo, however the vehicle in question would be the latest gen Astro/Safari.. was curious if you're able to take a measurement from the crank pulley centerline up to the top of the supercharger casing, just to get an idea on the overall height of the engine given it required spacers for the clearance of the pulleys to make it fit proper.
@4BillC7 ай бұрын
First, I definitely thought that would have been a heavier car! My daily hot rod is 3280 with me and subwoofers in it. For only making less than 5psi that's not a bad gain! I love the work you do. Always looks good all while being home built! I wish my cars looked half as good! But zip ties work, lol. If you have read this far maybe you can answer a question for me. My daily has a small turbo on it that I'm leaning on pretty hard. Making about 25psi and 300whp out of a 1.8 4 cylinder with a 9.5:1 compression, well new. Doing a compression test results in 75psi on all 4. It's tired and I have a built engine just no time to install it. Anyway... Exhaust back pressure, is it possible to use an analog boost gauge to measure it? I really don't want to spend a couple hundred dollars on something I've went this long without but I feel like it's something I should look at.

I'm not sure if I saw it right. But I might be raining on your parade by pointing out the location of where you put your coolant temp sensor. It's in the part below the thermostat so it reads the engine side temp before reading the radiator side. So you may or may not run into some closed loop fueling issues or inaccuracies in coolant temp before the thermostat opens because of it being above it rather than below it. Otherwise, it seems like a pretty sweet unit 👍
@Calvin-Nelson7 ай бұрын
I moved it from the factory location which is below the thermostat to above the thermostat. I haven't noticed any issues at all either way.
@Richard-n2w1g7 ай бұрын
@@Calvin-Nelson Fair enough. I just didn't know if by changing the location it would cause any issues. You may not know until you get some miles on it. I was just more or less letting you know it could cause some issues with fueling. But it would only be during the time of first start up until the thermostat opens. The temp sensor is below the thermostat to see the engine temp, not the radiator temp. But as long as it works, then there isn't much of an issue 😅 I was just making an observation 👍

I can't wait until you get that blower speed up, and i'm interested to see the torque curve from 2800 - 6500 with those monster heads. I was wondering about the injector placement though, Is it because of the pressurized air in the intake that you're able to point them almost directly at the outside of the intake adapter wall? I've always thought injector height and angle were critical to timing because of heat and atomization properties. Is there a way to run them on the outside of the adapter at a steeper angle? Anyways, you're killin it, thanks for your awesome videos, and I'm hopeful that you'll have more Northstar content soon.
