Nick Nitro, You are correct, but the U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled that states with handgun permit structures do not violate the Second Amendment rights of the people because it demonstrates that background checks have been completed. In the eyes of the courts, if someone wants to buy a gun, they must pass a background check before the gun store can sell it to them. If they wish to apply for a concealed carry permit 6 months later, they must again pass a background check to ensure they haven't been arrested during that period of 6 months. It doesn't matter what you or I think because judges are all lawyers, and they all interpret the law and the Constitution differently, and that's what makes us all different people.

I get that there shouldn’t be restrictions. Constitutional carry I would prefer nation wide but here in nj and nyc it’s not our culture. I’ve owned guns since 2010 but carying is new to me and even I’m nervous and would take a class even if not requiredits not our culture to cary. I think they should be free classes fee applications and I’m sure I’ll change my mind but the average person is dumb so to atleast have them understand the basics of guns gun safety where to carry where not to carry, idk I’m torn. I would hate for dummies walking around to ruin something I thought we would never get back

@@ramrodnj True some retired cops I know spend their entire career 20 years + and never had to fire their weapon... I would hope the same goes for conceal carry.. You better have a good reason for shooting a person. You may only draw or use your weapon, when the circumstance are a life threatening situation, you can't shoot somebody for stealing your hubcaps ... Your life being in danger against a knife, gun, or some other weapon..... Depends on what kinda neighborhood you reside in....

Coming out of a holster is something NOT ALLOWED in NJ ranges. (Unless you spend thousands to join a club). NJ also banned most insurance carriers for people wanting to not only to defend themselves but protect themselves from a anti-self-protection state in court if they ever needed to use protection. This is supposed to be a constitutional right. Not something you need to spend thousands and jump through so many hoops to exercise.

Thousands to join a club? Which club is that? I belong to 2 here in south Jersey and both are under 300 a year…If you shoot on a regular basis it’s way cheaper to join a club to shoot.

This is not necessary. This gun range wants to over complicate carrying concealed so they can charge extra money. Pretty obvious. Drawing from a holster is not a necessary skill. It's an extra skill that they want to make money off of.

Forcing people to train in using a open carry holster that 99% of people won’t use makes no sense. The course should go as follows don’t ever point a gun at anything you are not willing to destroy even if you are positive it’s unloaded because you could be wrong. End of class.

My neighbor was a detective in my hometown and I asked him one day what to do if someone breaks in and he said leave the house or go to jail for shooting them 🤦 I no longer live in jersey. It is September 20, 2022 and the number of CCW permits issued in Somerset County stands at...............ZERO! My completed application was sent to the County judges over five weeks ago. Somerset County judges are not signing off on any of them. They are sitting on them and waiting to see what the state of NJ is going to do. THIS is how the state of NJ respects Constitutional rights.

Location as a restriction has been addressed as illegal in writing by the Supreme Court. Only a few areas were addressed as a legal restriction. I wish the state government, who is supposed to be following the oath they swore to, would actually read with integrity the ruling, act accordingly and not illegally put restrictions in place and force we the people to fund a law suit to force them to follow the law. Any one of us citizens would be locked up immediately after breaking the law. Why aren’t they?

Just the ccw qualifications is mandatory but supplemental classes are highly recommended and help with approval.

As a firearm owner im happy to have the chance to conceal carry. I don’t mind prohibiting where we can go with our firearms(schools, government buildings, etc) as long as they don’t try to pass anymore restrictions as far as anymore qualifications and requirements to be approved for a concealed carry permit. Big win for the law abiding citizens of New Jersey. I hope that we all stay safe and protect ourselves

These regulations are here to prevent people in NJ from exercising a right. Of course it’s good and frankly necessary to have training but they don’t care about safety. The state has these regulations as a way to deter people from owning firearms. But I guess that’s what the voters want since we keep electing democrats.
