Yeah, but look at the lack of training and the damage it can cause. I knew that car was sliding into that unit before contact was made just looking at positioning and understanding the condition of the suspects vehicle. I was so afraid for the lives of the officers in the truck that got hit. But with the lack of training I now understand why NMSPD requires authorization.

I get so angry here in my city and wonder how did they get their license, who taught them to drive if they don't know to always immediately get over and even stop if ambiance, fire truck or police are coming through? What I really liked was One person shouted he had commands - so there weren't 10 people shouting at once, and they said ok we've got 3 people so that's enough (instead of a big pile), and they really boxed the guy in, instead of parking 20 feet away to protect their cars. Those units not in the pursuit doing great at blocking off roads and preventing traffic from entering the highway leading to the less possiblity of a fatal crash. IF the guy was able to stop and flee, the officers in the pursuit can quickly dismount and a foot chase is on.

@@russkepler I live in. Missouri and have 7 acres of woods on my property. I would never live in an area with so few trees. I appreciate all of my trees (except in late fall when I have to deal with the fallen leaves) . I have oak, cedar, redbud, black walnut, ash, dogwood and others and now when they are budding out for spring is my favorite time. I visited New Mexico and parts of it, mostly the northern part, are beautiful but didn't care for the more arid ares. And I have plenty of blue sky and the night sky is wonderful.

Because the cops are only getting paid when actively pursuing someone, right? The other way you can look at it is that those cops are getting paid regardless. Now they are working for their money, not just sitting beside the road watching for speeders and watching TikTok. And some would say you don't put a cash value on the price of catching a criminal. If you want to add up the costs of arrest, jail, trial, incarceration, 99% of criminals cost more to punish than they ever stole. If we only punish people who steal more than it costs to deal with them, we will be limited to congressmen and bank execs. Dumb idea.

Of all the chases I've seen on KZbin, this one sticks out the best. Communication was fantastic. The number of officers involved in this situation was overwhelming. Till the chase was terminated, we had no idea how many units were involved in this chase. I'm guessing at 30 or more. Criminals, be aware, you WILL, be caught.

It's nice to see NMSP can PIT vehicles. It's too bad the troopers are limited on speeds no higher than 35 mph in order to PIT. That causes more tax dollars to be used and more lives and property at risk. Arkansas State Police PIT vehicles at speeds up to at least 90.

Yeah Arkansas has advanced training on the PIT which allows them to pit at that speeds but also they have policy that allows them to pit while NMSP has policy that says they can’t PIT except when it’s approved by the supervisor and other parameters have been met.

A pit at 35 is not as effective. The momentum is a lot less. Also Arkansas also has to have supervisor approval. They just give it more often. By the time ASP joins the pursuit, approval has been given.

Until otherwise notified, Arkansas remains the pursuit pinnacle of excellence. They've completed dozens of high speed PIT maneuvers that resulted in significantly less damage & put nobody in as much risk as NMSP did in this situation at 35 mph or less. It was surprising to see NMSP perform the PIT with vehicles lining the side of the highway.

NMSP does not have advanced training in the PIT maneuver because NMSP has a no PIT policy unless being approved by a supervisor, the vehicle is under 35mph, and certain other parameters need to be met such as traffic, weather conditions, danger level to not only the public but to officers etc. NMSP is trained on PIT but nothing advanced.

I understand that unless you are in that situation you really don't know what is going on and the objective is to stop the criminals. Great Video! It is good to see people stop on the side of the road for the pursuit. In a lot of videos, people do not get out of the way and sometimes you can tell them are trying to impede the law enforcement. I watched one video where a kidnapping was in progress, a driver looked to me like they were deliberately impeding the officer. Luckily, they stopped the car!! Wonder how that person felt the next day when it hit the news. Be safe out there on the roads!!

In Arkansas, the state troopers pit vehicles at any speeds… doesn’t matter if driving 10 or 120 mph. Don’t let criminals know if they maintain a certain speed they can literally get away. In California they’ll slow speed chase doing 5mph for 6 hours till someone runs out of gas or chase is called off when they have all departments including a helicopter involved. 😂

Officer Montoya did an excellent job on the pursuit. Ive been in pursuits on LE side before. This was effortless for him except for the crazy public not moving out of the way. Trooper Donavas did an excellent job with spikes and pit maneuvers. I loved how in control he was. Never mess with New Mexico law Enforcement. They are bad ass!

terrible timing on the pit ,you could see what was going to happen before he did it very lucky he didn't hurt the officer in that unit. too much adrenaline, man just wait a few seconds till he passes your guys l it all worked out but id be a little pissed if it was in the f-150 unit and i would let him know it too ,
